Volume 3 Chapter 13 The Changing Delinquents
In the Royal Capital, the delinquents from Villainous Guildmaster Act's are at work.
One morning.
One of the delinquents, Trish, wakes up.
"Mmm... I slept well!"
The girl stretches herself.
She is in an orphanage in the Royal Capital.
Thanks to Act's generous subsidy, it's quite prosperous.
The amenities and the clothes the orphans wear are of good quality.
"Alright!"
After dressing up, Trish heads to the staff of the orphanage to help prepare breakfast.
"Good morning, Sister!"
A composed woman stands in the kitchen.
This orphanage also serves as a church.
"Good morning, Trish. You're energetic today."
"Yeah! Lately, every day has been super fun!"
"That's good. We should thank Mr. Act."
"Yeah!"
Act introduced the orphanage to Trish and also gave her a job.
Thanks to him, she found a purpose in life.
She helps the sister and other staff make breakfast.
After a while, the orphans wake up and come to the dining hall.
"Alright everyone, let's say a prayer to God today."
The children gathered in the dining hall respond with smiles.
"""Thank you, Mr. Act!"""
"...But I keep telling you, God isn't Mr. Act."
Trish and the sister smile wryly.
To the young children, Act, who brings delicious meals and sweets, seems more like God than the unseen God.
They've been corrected many times, but it doesn't stick.
That's how precious Act is to the orphans.
After breakfast, Trish heads to her workplace.
"Alright then."
Thump...!
Trish kicks the ground and leaps.
The wind swirls around her, allowing her to jump to an amazing height.
This is Trish's hidden talent... [Wind User].
She can freely stir up the wind.
Running fast and jumping high is now possible.
Trish rushes along the rooftops at high speed.
"Huh?"
At that moment, she spots an old woman below.
The woman is looking around in a fluster.
Feeling curious, Trish stops and climbs down from the roof.
"Hey, grandma, what's wrong?"
"Huh? Oh... I dropped my wallet. What should I do?"
If this were the old Trish, she would have ignored her and walked by.
But seeing the troubled old woman reminded her of her past self.
She recalled the black-haired Guildmaster who reached out to her when she was down.
Because he lifted her from rock bottom, she is happy now.
"I'll help you look for it."
The words slipped out naturally.
Trish was surprised even as she said it.
Helping someone in need wouldn't make her any money, though...
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah! Just wait a second!"
Trish stirs up the wind.
Her talent doesn't just create wind.
She can even hear the sounds carried by the wind.
Trish listens carefully around her.
She picks out the sound of coins clinking in a wallet lifted by a gust.
"Found it!"
Trish zooms toward the sound and grabs the wallet.
"Grandma! Is this it?"
"Ah! That's mine! Thank you so much!"
She hands the wallet to the old woman.
The grandma takes Trish's hand and smiles wide.
"This was a gift from my late husband. It's more precious than the money inside. Really... thank you!"
Watching the grandma's smile makes Trish's heart warm and fuzzy.
She had never been thanked like this in her life.
Now, she finds joy in being appreciated by others.
She felt grateful to Act for everything.
It was because she wanted to help someone that she discovered her wind-controlling talent, all thanks to meeting him.
"No need to thank me! See you later, grandma! Just don't lose it again!"
With her cheeks flushed, Trish leaves the scene.
"Hehe... I got praised... Wait, OH NO! Damn, I'm late!"
Trish hurried to the job site.
The work had already started, and under the instructions of the dwarf Torio, the misfits were happily working away.
"What are you doing, you?"
"Ugh... Guildmaster."
Act was standing there as the site supervisor.
He glared down at her coldly.
"Sorry for being late... it's just..."
"EXCUSES ARE UNNECESSARY."
Getting scolded... Trish shriveled up.
