Volume 3 Chapter 5 The Villainous Guildmaster, to the Royal Capital
I left my hometown to open a branch of the Guild Gem of Heavenly Gift in Royal Capital.
"It's been a while since I came to Royal Capital♡ Right, Guildmaster?"
"Yeah, Rozelia."
Daytime in Royal Capital.
Next to me stands a beautiful red-haired woman──Rozelia.
"You chose me as your attendant... hehe♡ I'm so happy♡"
Her fiery red hair is tied up.
She's tall and slim, with long legs and arms──a truly stunning sight.
Even though she's an S-Rank Adventurer, today she wears casual clothes──a shirt and slacks, not light armor.
She's not carrying her usual rapier at her waist.
"You should start leading others soon. This is practice for that."
Rozelia is very smart.
Her combat skills are top-notch, but she's also a great leader and has a good heart.
She has the talent to be a leader.
To help her grow, I brought her along on this trip to Royal Capital.
"I always want to be by your side..."
Rozelia looks up at me with warm, serious eyes.
"Don't be silly. You can't stay a low-level forever. It's a waste of resources."
"That's not what I mean... You're such a cruel Guildmaster."
"I don't get it. Let's go."
I head to the Guild Association headquarters.
"Where first?"
"To greet the Headquarters Chief. Then we'll look for a property."
The Guild Association is as busy as ever.
It also manages guilds that aren't for adventurers.
"L-LOOK... THAT'S ACT AGE."
When I enter the building, other guild members watch me quietly from a distance.
"...So that's the famous skilled Guildmaster everyone talks about."
They say he was the one who built up Lawrence's party, who defeated the Four Heavenly Kings.
"You look so dignified," Rozelia said with a smile.
"As expected of the Guildmaster, you're famous."
"Nonsense. Let's go."
I headed straight to the association's Headquarters Chief.
When I showed up, the Chief smiled and motioned me to sit on the sofa.
"Act, have you finally decided to become the next Headquarters Chief?"
This guy keeps pushing me to be his successor no matter how many times.
"I came just to build a guild in the Royal Capital."
"You'll stay as Chief too, WON'T YOU~?"
"Stop saying stupid things. Let's get to the point."
"TCH... STINGY GUY. HAAAH. I'd trust you more if you took the job, Act."
I handed over the papers needed to get the Royal Capital business permit for Gem of Heavenly Gift.
The Chief looked over the documents, reviewed them, and stamped them approved.
"Here you go. No problem at all. Run your business however you like."
I gave the papers to Rozelia.
"Is it always this easy to pass the review?"
The Chief answered as Rozelia tilted her head.
"No way. It's because it's Act that the review went smoothly. He talks like a villain, but his achievements are amazing."
"Well...♡ As expected of the Guildmaster, you're trusted♡"
"Don't know."
I just do what I want.
I don't care what anyone thinks.
"Now that your activities in the Royal Capital are approved... what will you do next, Act?"
"Build the guild hall. Also, hire staff."
Just the business permit isn't enough.
We need a base building and people.
"Build it... from scratch? It'd be easier to rent a ready-made place."
"There wasn't a good rental property available. Better to build it myself. I already secured the land."
"Ah... you're already thinking and moving that far. You're really quick at your work."
Rozelia tilts her head.
"How do you build a building?"
"I've already talked to the Merchant Guild. Let's go, Rozelia."
I stand up from the sofa and leave Headquarters Chief.
"The Royal Capital has many Adventurers Guilds. The disputes between Guilds here are worse than back in the hometown. BUT HEY, IT'S YOU, SO YOU'LL MANAGE SOMEHOW. GOOD LUCK!"
Headquarters Chief says to me with a smile.
"See you."
I take Rozelia and leave the place.
Next, we head to the Commerce Guild.
"Construction... so this is the Guild where the carpenters belong."
"Yeah. I have an old friend here. First, let's visit him."
I arrive at the Guildmaster's room in the Commerce Guild.
"MR. ACT! LONG TIME NO SEE!"
A bearded dwarf man approaches me, his face full of joy.
"Torio. It's been a while!"
"Is this lady also a former Gem of Heavenly Gift?"
"Yeah, that's right, little lady! Mr. Act helped me when I was down! Ah, it brings back memories...!"
Torio gives my back a hearty slap.
"To grow up to be the Guildmaster of such a Guild... amazing, Guildmaster♡"
"ABSOLUTELY! THIS GUY IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST AT DEVELOPING TALENT! HAHAHA!"
"Enough of this silly talk."
I start discussing things with Torio.
We sit on the sofa.
"You've helped me a lot, Mr. Act. I want to fully back you up! But right now, I'm short on people."
"Oh, why is that?"
Rozelia, sitting beside me, tilts her head.
"We've got a job for repairing the outer wall of the king's castle. Everyone's gone there. Sorry about that."
I saw the commotion when we rode the carriage to the Royal Capital.
I see, so that's why.
"Well, we can't help it if it's the king's orders. Let's go, Rozelia."
"Eh...?"
Rozelia and the others opened their eyes wide.
"G-GUILDMASTER... WHERE ARE YOU GOING?"
"Are you going to another Merchant Guild?"
"No."
I looked at Rozelia and the others and said:
"If we don't have people, we'll find them."
