Volume 3 Chapter 24 Horace + Sid VS Calamityshade Dragon Terra Disas I
On the plains, a battle began between 2 humans and a dragon.
Of course, against a dragon soaring in the sky, almost all means would be meaningless...
'Hm?'
In the moment Terra Disas tilted its head, a flash burst from Horace's gun.
The flash released from the barrel, Terra Disas raised its hand.
Just like that, something like a 'vortex' appeared, and an 'eruption' occurred.
Lava blew wildly at high speed, swallowing the flash.
"Is such a thing even possible?"
Next to Horace, who had finished attacking, Sid was gone.
'Hmm...'
Terra Disas looked slightly up, where Sid was creating a huge 'spear'.
Sid fired it at ultra-speed.
'Mu...'
Terra Disas's eyes shone, and the spear made of water──or rather, slime──decomposed into 'just water', which blew wildly like a typhoon towards Sid.
"Such nonsense..."
Kicking off the air, Sid escaped the typhoon's range, continuously creating and firing spears.
Closing in on Terra Disas....
'Increased stability, huh?'
With just a swing of its arm, Terra Disas caused a tornado, wiping away all the spears.
At that moment, another flash came from below.
This one was clearly denser than before.
Terra Disas created another vortex next to itself and met the attack with an eruption.
'Magic is becoming more efficient... no, it's being theorized. Gai, Zetsu, and even my "lingering scent" can clearly be felt being imposed by just a human unilaterally.'
"Lingering scent?"
Horace said in a voice mixed with surprise.
'Hmm? *You don't know*, huh. Well, it's fine, I'll tell you as a "consolation prize" for challenging me. The "Keystone Dragon of the Four Source Divine" including me, possess overwhelming power, hence, immense magic remains in the traces we pass.'
Terra Disas spoke with interest.
'And, the magic seeks stability and turns into metal that holds dragon information. The 4 dragons were sealed together 1000 years ago, and I, with the most remaining power, revived earliest.'
"So, it means Gai Gigant and Zeth Halcon are still sealed somewhere, and they haven't been defeated?"
'Even as I was sealed, I could see bits of this world. Heh heh heh, surely that's not the full strength of Gai or Zeth.'
Terra Disas spoke with amusement, a hint of 'ridicule' in their tone.
Gai Gigant, who could tear apart the buildings of the capital, was too strong for Horace in his normal state, even when not at full power.
Zeth Halcon, who fought in human form and thus couldn't use his full strength, still managed to succeed in returning to 'human' after using the 'Ultimate Technique' against the Demon Lord.
Both dragons, if they appeared in different times and places, would have caused immense damage.
Yet, they were merely 'leftovers with solidified magic trails,' nothing more.
However, just defeating such dragons was enough to stir up the people.
Or rather, the tales of their 'despair-inducing strength' should have been passed down.
But no one knew they were this 'overwhelming.'
'With the remnants of my power... yes, it would be enough to destroy 5 countries in a month. Rather lenient, I'd say. If it were me now, turning several continents into uninhabitable lands in a month would be easy.'
Terra Disas spoke with a sneer.
Was it based on actual experience?
Or was 'calamity' simply meant to be like that?
...No, it was indeed the truth.
Eruptions don't last.
Typhoons don't last.
Every natural disaster may 'occur' periodically, but natural disasters don't continue.
But Terra Disas was different.
This dragon caused disasters just by existing, just by being there.
'Ah, indeed...'
Terra Disas looked down.
'While I've been talking, it seems you've been 'hiding and gathering' energy. But it doesn't matter if I make you visible, does it?'
""!?""
The spaces that Horace and Sid had each constructed were now visible.
While they talked, neither one let the time go to waste.
They built up a hidden space, charging up power for the next attack──but it looked like the enemy saw right through it.
"Damn... what a pain of a dragon."
"I have to agree with you," came the tired response.
Both of them dropped their disguise space.
Horace gripped a huge machine gun, its barrel gleaming under the lights.
Right beside him, Sid kept every single flask connected by tendrils of liquid, ready for action.
Horace pulled the trigger.
"'Sagittarius II.'"
A red flash burst out.
It blazed straight toward Terra Disas──
"'Conclusion: Hell Gate.'"
The flash shot through the black doorway Sid created, twisting and bleeding into a blackish-red beam.
Even now, he's still laying groundwork for something.
Terra Disas did not hesitate.
A blast poured from his jaws.
The attack pressed forward with the force of a laser, smashing straight into Horace's flash.
The two attacks locked, neither one giving way.
But then──
"Tch."
Horace clicked his tongue.
His gun sputtered, then went dead in his hands.
By that time, Sid had already slipped away.
Horace leapt after him.
As soon as they split, Terra Disas's breath slammed down onto the ground.
'If you had beaten that breath, you could've wounded me. But even if you lost, you still blocked my 'Stellar Pierce' move. Sneaky tricksters.'
That breath would usually tear right through solid earth──no problem at all.
But maybe Horace's blast changed something... The breath only gouged the ground a little when it hit, instead of punching through.
'Still, even if you train for your entire short little life, you'll never beat me with just that. Hmph. Not bad, though. There's style in the attempt.'
Terra Disas fixed his eyes on Horace.
'You're up to something. But whatever it is, I just woke up, and already I've got appetizers ready for me. Might as well enjoy my own welcome-back party.'
Terra Disas didn't bother hiding his amusement.
He coated his body in a shimmering magical sheath.
The barrier shrank tight, drawing in with sudden speed.
When the haze finally cleared, there stood the figure of a young boy.
Crimson hair blazing, eyes just as red shining underneath.
The air around him crackled with something utterly unnatural.
The outfit was plain──just a pure white sleeveless shirt, black pants, and boots──but anyone could see that body was built, muscle honed from years of training.
"Has the disaster calmed down a bit?"
"Heh, that's right. Whenever I take this form, the disaster slows. My resources flow into strength for battle."
"So you're not saying you were stronger as a dragon, huh."
"All kinds of creatures keep evolving, but a body stuffed with too many animal traits? It never feels stable. This one's better, trust me. Still──now that I've tried a human shape, let me say this: you're a strange man."
Terra Disas turned those piercing eyes on Horace.
No one could tell exactly what counted as 'strange' in their eyes...
Still, Terra Disas kept watching Horace, a thin, mischievous smile on their lips.
"Now, what's your move? Do as you please, but entertain me while you're at it."
The second round began.
