Volume 3 Chapter 26 The Deranged Robert
Calamityshade Dragon Terra Disas.
Rangella and the others defeated the 'lingering individual' that was headed towards Jewel City Lapis.
Horace couldn't beat the 'main body,' but he managed to secure a special ingot.
Because of this, the disaster ended.
The sky cleared.
Reconstruction began in the Chaos Stone Dragonstone Kingdom.
"No... no! My sword! Where is it?!"
Robert panicked.
His sword was gone from his side.
It wouldn't be strange if this whole thing was blamed on Robert for bringing the dragon to Jewel City Lapis.
However, because hero community executives and Horace were in Jewel City Lapis, everyone expected the decisive battle to happen near there anyway.
So, bringing Terra Disas wasn't the right choice for him.
But it wasn't a bad strategic move either.
That was the Dragonstone Kingdom's official stance.
Robert wouldn't be punished.
But, for him, that wasn't the main problem.
"I don't care that soldier died. I can replace them anytime. But losing that sword is a disaster. Where is it? Where is it?!"
Robert screamed as he searched for his sword in Jewel City Lapis.
He most likely dropped it somewhere between where he first fought Terra Disas and the area near Jewel City Lapis.
The hero community encountered Terra Disas.
He should have had time to realize it was gone.
The fact that he didn't notice his sword was gone meant he was desperate to escape.
So, no matter how much he searched the town, he wouldn't find it.
But for some reason, he wouldn't leave the town.
"...Master, why is he so deranged?"
Of course, rumors of Robert's odd behavior had reached the hero's mansion as well.
Rangella seemed concerned about Robert's condition.
Horace was relaxing in the lobby during his 'break from work,' when Rangella's question made him ponder...
"To put it simply, the sword he had was made from some incredibly rare materials."
"Rare materials?"
"See, magic craves stability. In other words, 'drastic change' isn't the most compatible form for magic."
"Indeed."
"The same goes for the enchantment of metal, or alchemy. Including speculation, that sword of his took 30 years to refine the materials, and another 15 years to enhance the magic quality."
"So it's a piece that takes 45 years to complete. Losing it would be more than just a hassle."
"Well, it's partly because he's on the management side. But even for a regular soldier, it should take at least 15 years. The weapons of those 5 S-rank Adventurers, probably took 30 years to finish."
In summary.
"The soldier is probably dead. But losing a 45-year weapon and 5 30-year weapons is a big deal. Plus, you can't just mass-produce them because of the time it takes. The quality is top-notch, and it's likely that a craftsman would dedication their life to making them."
"Quality that good?"
"Yeah. When those 6 of them came to the mansion, Ramella wasn't there. But she probably would've lit up if she saw their weapons."
Ramella, the finest craftsman in the Luster Report.
But she was only 16 years old, and the concept of weapons that took '30, even 45 years to make' was likely a 'whole new world' she couldn't grasp at first sight.
"The Order of the Sealed Dragon deals with long-lived dragons. But since human life is short, we counter by investing time in our tools and techniques, passing them down through generations."
"Robert seems to understand that he's using something that took a long time to make."
As a weapon, it can break.
But 'losing' it is a bad look.
Of course, you take care of weapons, but you should expect to lose them sometimes.
Whether that's a 'crime' worthy of being sent 'down' depends on the organization.
Still, just not being sent 'down' doesn't mean Robert can go 'up'.
It's really up to him.
The administrator is a privileged class, but the strongest power is 'personnel power', which decides who gets those privileges.
After various assessments, the question is whether to evaluate 'a person who treats something made over a long period of time lightly'.
Probably not.
"Well, if things stay like this, demotion is certain, so he's probably desperate. If he messes up, he won't be able to stay in the administrator's side, the privileged class."
It's obvious that Robert is doing whatever he wants as a manager of the Order of the Sealed Dragon.
He even insisted on 'recovering' the dragon's ingots from Horace just because he belonged to the Order of the Sealed Dragon.
Also, solving problems with violence if he's unhappy wouldn't work without a 'sense of privilege'.
"He probably won't understand revenge. I think he'll just hate that he can't act like a person in power."
"Well, that's about all he can understand, and he probably doesn't understand anything more."
"What do you mean, Master..."
"In short, he thinks he can 'easily recover'. And that's with the added element of not seeing the current situation or the premise."
As he said that, the entrance to the mansion opened, and Ramella entered with a suspicious expression.
"Hey, Master. That Robert guy is saying he wants to see Master."
"...Haa. I got it."
Horace sighed and stood up.
He probably expected this.
Was it faster than he thought, or slower?
He didn't know, but he must have expected it.
"He needs some discipline. Really."
Horace muttered that and left the mansion.
