Volume 3 Chapter 33 Apostle → Special Seat Audience

Volume 3 Chapter 33 Apostle → Special Seat Audience

"Horace has shown up. That means we won."

As Horace emerged from the back room, Sora's words hung in the air.

 "Seems that way."

"If your body were taken, you become a god. In that case, you can't leave 'Thy Name' for now. I've been waiting for you to show up."

"I can't give advice due to the constraints, but I think I won pretty well."

The Key of Pharos originally led the Adventurers community 'Forever', with Eudynes as the leader.

But considering Arzent had been using Eudynes's body and kept him as a subordinate under absolute obedience, he should have a deep hatred for Arzent.

 "...What about them?"

Rangella and the others were no longer in the room.

"The moment Arzent fell, we felt something similar here. After that, Rangella said, 'I'll go back first' and left, taking the other 5 with her."

 "...I see."

Why Rangella decided to do that was unclear.

Whether she thought there was no need to ask, or that asking wouldn't change anything – it was uncertain...

"Phew, well, we won. That guy's sword was a real pain, though."

"Yeah, the 'Divine Sword Ephemera'. Eudynes made that to challenge Arzent."

"It hasn't been enhanced since the challenge. In fact, Arzent didn't even have the skill to enhance it."

"I see... So, the original name wasn't 'Divine Sword Ephemera', right? It doesn't seem like someone from 'Forever' would give their sword such a name."

"Yeah, the original name was 'Name-Canceling Sword Crossout'. It's made with some super special metal. When Eudynes used all his power as a Golem Master at the highest level, he could even make a god's name disappear."

"Wait... he want to face the 'God's name' straight on?"

 "Yes."

Sora smirked and looked at Horace, teasing, provoking him.

"You thought it was impossible, right? Still, Horace, the world you know is pretty small."

 "...As expected of Eudynes."

"But, even so, he haven't died once, and he didn't mess around inside his body like a bone golem or anything. He has always been just a normal human."

 Basically...

"Arzent wanting his body ── does that mean he just doesn't understand how great Eudynes is, and thinks 'My side is better'?"

 "Yeah. Horace... you're beaten."

Though Remi told Horace he lost, Horace didn't look upset or annoyed.

"...Haa... So, what will you guys do now?"

"We lived as Arzent's Apostles. Now that Arzent is gone, no new orders will come. We don't have to fulfill our role as Apostles, but we can't do nothing else either."

"We quietly stay out of the world's way, in the corner. Those who die after becoming gods have a pretty strange afterlife. Eudynes can't look in from his side. I'll watch your story──good tales make good souvenirs."

"...Hey, Sid, I think it's okay to give him that."

 "Yes, I think so."

At Sora's word, Sid took out ten medals from inside his coat and handed them to Horace.

"They're no longer needed by us. The reward for defeating Arzent... you probably got ingots, right? But this is our thanks to you."

 "...Is that okay?"

"We understand how much effort we put into making this, and Horace, you know that too. Still, we want you to have it."

"I think Horace, you yourself made it, but probably only about 30 percent is good."

"Think of this as the price of watching you from the best seat."

"...I see, you three. Well, if that's the case, I'll take it without hesitation."

Horace took the ten medals from Sid.

"Lastly... as Apostles, we've done many unforgivable things. And there's no way to atone for them. We're still Apostles, bound by those constraints."

"Horace, you understood that but never once saw us as evil. That means a lot. Over the past century, others who discovered us called us villains, weaklings without the will to resist. But you were different."

"We're truly grateful that you defeated Arzent and saved Eudynes!"

Sora and Remi were in tears, sobbing openly.

"I'm genuinely happy. Thank you, Horace."

"...Well, I just have a lot of knowledge. I can see who's pulling the strings. So, even if they're causing trouble underneath, I don't care."

After replying them, Horace walked toward the door. But before leaving, he turned back once more.

"...Hey, about Five Divine Gods. If I defeat the remaining four and conquer 'Thy Name,' gaining an absolute name, can I say I've surpassed Eudynes?"

"We guarantee it. Though Eudynes wouldn't be bitter. He'd surely smile and praise you."

 "I see..."

 Horace sighed deeply.

"Then, I'll have to do something even more incredible to make him feel regret."

Facing the door, he raised his left hand in a wave... and left.
