Volume 4 Chapter 18 Why Would You Bring a Bomb?

 "Big Brother! Something terrible happened!"

 "What's wrong?"

"Gaspar said, 'I should find the treasure in the underground of Sevenstar Academy!' and he brought out a bomb!"

 "And then what happened?"

"Ms. Rangella beat Gaspar to a pulp, and the bomb got frozen solid with a 'Clank clank'!"

 "..."

Horace recognizes that what he has is 'irresponsibility,' but it's true that he believes 'you can do anything as long as you don't cause trouble.'

People can't always do what they want or can do, and imposing obligations from above won't solve anything. It just builds up dissatisfaction.

That's why 'freedom'... or rather, 'rights' come into play, making it so that people can essentially do anything they want.

 Just don't cause trouble.

If you can argue that, then I think you can do anything you like.

It's because of this 'premise' that I don't really understand the nature of people like Gaspar.

"...So, what's going on with the pulp Gaspar?"

"Clearly it's terrorism, so there's been a lot of talk about it."

 "A lot of talk... huh..."

After all, Gaspar is at the top of the Permanent Council Members of the world conference.

A half-hearted judgment would be meaningless, and even if you try to give a heavy penalty, he has the power to make it disappear.

"...It looks like Valzeil and the others are saying 'What are you doing?' while dealing with it."

"It seems like they're actually taking the matter to Mr. Valzeil."

 "But, terrorism?"

"They're talking about treasure and whatnot, but there's no proof it even exists, and it's all rumors in the first place. So if someone brings in a bomb over that, it's not something you can just let slide. That's why it's been labeled as 'Guerilla Terrorism,' which seems plausible for his character."

"The interpretation that it could be 'Guerilla Terrorism' is a bit..."

Still, it's fair to say that a grown adult got serious over a rumored treasure and brought a bomb to dig it up.

Since Dragonstone Kingdom has the Great Mine of Gold World (Kinsekai) dungeon, it's not surprising that some incredible metal is hidden somewhere in the country.

But still, rumors are just rumors. Without solid evidence, no one would normally think about acting on them.

Or rather, it's hard to tell who started these kinds of stories in the first place.

It could be a 60-year-old grandpa telling his great-grandchild, and that small kid talking about treasure──normal stuff like that happens.

Honestly, it's just people getting overexcited for no real reason. Besides, most of the people in Dragonstone Kingdom are pretty reckless anyway.

But conspicuously, Gaspar's style is to bring in bombs without any warning.

"Ms. Ellie was pretty surprised too. We decided to toss him into some prison dungeon and have him pay off his debt to clean things up."

"Wait, he's really that the blunt about his plans?"

"He told us everything just by being carried on my shoulders, squeezed tight by my thighs."

 "I see."

Gaspar stays steady, and Ellie stays steady too.

Horace understood that this would end up like that. The world's really gone to hell.
