Volume 4 Chapter 37 Black Market
"I've managed to give all the students an experience that only I can provide, so maybe I should also do a live broadcast of defeating the dungeon boss," Horace said.
"That would be fine~," Ulrika replied.
"Broadcasting the defeat of the final dungeon boss isn't something you can usually do," Nousa added.
In Horace's workshop, located in the Sevenstar Academy's school building, he was crafting a coffee server magic tool while chatting with Ulrika, Nousa, and Ellie, who looked happily comfortable on Nousa's lap pillow.
"We need to do something big around here," Horace remarked.
"Hm? What do you mean?" Nousa asked.
"It's almost two months until the experience period ends, so the students are discussing what kind of farewell present to give~," Ulrika chimed in.
"Sevenstar Academy sure changes gears quickly," Ellie noted.
Indeed, the initial plan was for Horace's teaching experience and Rangella's school experience to last for two months. Of course, there was a possibility of extending it, but Horace himself hadn't considered it.
"Since there's a time limit to challenging the God of Sealing Shildress, I was planning to end the teaching experience after two months and move on to dungeon conquest, but it seems the students also thought it would end completely after two months," Horace explained.
"The latest trend at Sevenstar Academy seems to be 'Rice Ball Ingredient Russian Roulette,'" Ellie said.
"Free?" Horace asked, confused.
"The Chaos Stone Dragonstone Kingdom has a nearby sea suitable for fishing, and they're blessed with a variety of seafood, so they're enjoying putting all kinds of fish in it~," Ulrika explained.
"Haa..." Horace sighed.
"The loser gets wasabi-loaded tuna tartare that's like hell. I thought I was going to die," Nousa recalled.
"Did you eat it?" Horace asked.
Ellie probably isn't into gambling.
"That one's amazing. They sweat profusely and their eyes sparkle," Nousa commented.
"Photos of Ellie at that time are being traded in the Sevenstar Academy black market~," Ulrika added.
"Huh, I thought I was pretty good at detecting signs of intrigue, but I didn't notice at all?" Horace wondered.
"It's hard to sense things without negative emotions, and since no one's unlucky, it's difficult to detect~," Ellie explained.
"All sorts of things are circulating around~," Ulrika said.
"Huh... like what?" Horace asked.
"There's a black history notebook written by Principal Velto from a long time ago~," Ulrika revealed.
"Did such a time exist?" Horace questioned.
"It's incredibly well-written with 'Gai's Last Words' on the cover~," Ulrika said.
"Did you actually read it?" Horace asked.
"I read it while laughing out loud with Lady Lucia in front of the author~," Ulrika admitted.
"..."
Horace's expression was like that of a bitter bug being crushed, his cheeks completely pulled back.
"No one ended up unhappy with that?" Horace asked.
"Principal Velto was laughing out loud too~," Ulrika replied.
"As expected... right? For the principal himself, it's been several decades ago," Nousa commented.
Principal Velto, roughly speaking, is a very patriotic and kind-hearted old man. Perhaps he's happy to provide laughter for his fellow countrymen. Additionally, the people of this country are fundamentally lolicons. Lucia is fourteen. Ulrika is fifteen. They're within range, and Velto has no complaints.
...For Horace, still twenty-seven, it's a realm beyond understanding.
"So, was there anything interesting related to golems?" Horace asked.
"Something brother might be interested in...?" Nousa wondered.
"Wait a moment... Nousa, Ulrika, Ellie. Have all three of you ever been to the black market?" Horace asked.
"Of course," Nousa replied.
"It goes without saying~," Ulrika added.
"I have no reason not to go to the 'market,'" Ellie stated.
Is Horace just stupid? Or are the women's intuitions sharp? I wonder which it is. Probably both.
"There weren't any notable items related to golems~ Which is mainly metal, and in the Chaos Stone Dragonstone Kingdom, the country properly collects them~," Ulrika explained.
"So the black market is officially recognized by the country," Horace noted.
"It started because some whimsical students wanted to give off a 'seems like they're plotting something' vibe, so they gathered in a place with few teachers patrolling, according to the rumors~," Ulrika said.
"I don't know whether to praise or be appalled by the style of directly asking the teachers for a place with few patrols..." Horace mused.
"I was appalled. Anyway, that's how the assets behind Sevenstar Academy, as they're called, have been gathered. But, as expected, there are hardly any metal-related items," Ellie explained.
"I see, it's a shame but also natural," Horace acknowledged.
"I mean, even if something did happen, I don't think it would be anything from the 'deep layer' class of the Great Mine of Gold World, right?" Nousa said.
"That's... true," Horace agreed.
Even Horace would be surprised to see such a rare item on campus.
"So, in short, the students are choosing their farewell presents from that underground market, right?" Horace asked.
"That's right. There are things like 'Ultra Aphrodisiac: BakiBaki Ahn~' too, so it's a bit concerning," Ellie said.
"Why is something like that in the school in the first place! This school is strict enough to ban such things between students and teachers by rule──," Horace exclaimed.
Horace's face turned bright blue.
Yes, Horace remembered. He is being protected now. By the rules of this school!
"...Sooo... teacher experience. Maybe I should extend it a bit more," Horace muttered.
"You'd better stop quickly, the maids in the mansion are going to cause a big commotion," Ellie warned.
The biggest problem was recognized by Horace's fate, how will it be.
