Volume 4 Chapter 6 Who Is the Bad One? Who Is the Terrible One?

Horace, being Horace, was having a tough time with the 13-year-old boy and girl, but as for the class the other members joined, it had turned into a 'real mess.'

Nousa, joining not as part of the hero community but as Horace's sister, felt a bit out of place, though everyone was a beauty.

However, there was one commonality among the classes they joined.

This school is the largest in the Dragonstone Kingdom, aiming not to cultivate academic ability, but to foster a sense of national camaraderie.

Therefore, there's a set way of dealing with 'students from other countries.'

Simply put, they create a 'foreign student class' and dump everyone there.

...By the way, if you want to experience the 'advanced education only available in the Dragonstone Kingdom,' you should go to the 'top' school, not just the 'largest' Sevenstar Academy, but few children choose to study abroad here.

The reason is straightforward: the 'level is too high for outsiders to understand.'

Compared to the top educational institution of the Diamante Kingdom, the royal side offers considerable test exemptions based on 'title' rather than 'ability,' and the tuition fees are overwhelmingly high.

If a commoner were to enroll, they would definitely be housed in a dormitory.

The school provides a place for students to eat and sleep within the campus, but the school itself is surrounded by fairly high walls with 'gates' in all 4 directions, and you'll be scolded for approaching carelessly.

This creates a situation where 'commoners are less likely to rely on outsiders.'

Moreover, being summoned forcibly to a laboratory and extracting knowledge before being sent off is an everyday occurrence.

In short, it's a school that's like 'receiving nobility.'

In contrast, the Dragonstone Kingdom has a much lower barrier between nobles and commoners... or even the royal family.

It's simply a part of the national character; there's no concept of 'favoring nobles because they are nobles.'

The top academy in the Dragonstone Kingdom doesn't charge tuition, and there's no exemption for exams.

That's why only the truly brilliant students get in.

They don't prioritize enrollment numbers, so class sizes vary by year──it's a problem with their educational policy.

Because of this, when the children of nobles from countries where they pull rank come here, they often find themselves outclassed.

Some nobles even fly into a rage over "shaming their own child," but since the top academy is tied to the "Great Mine of Gold World (Kinsekai)," a system with numerous exclusive rights, the Bloodline Nation has no grounds to make demands of the Dragonstone Kingdom's top academy.

Therefore, most international students can all be enrolled in the "international students class" at Sevenstar Academy, the largest school in the Dragonstone Kingdom.

And yet... none of the Horace affiliates are in any of the international students classes across all grades.

* * *

 "Hey!"

 "Hm?"

 After school.

Horace is working on class materials, walking back and forth in the hallway fetching and returning items.

...There's a book with the title 'New Discoveries Guided by a Scholar Who Usually Fondles Maids'──an object that shouldn't exist in an educational setting──lying there, but he's supposedly "working on class materials."

"Why isn't there an international class in the classes we're joining? That's unfair!"

"Not much I can do if you're telling me that."

The one making a fuss is a high school freshman.

He's got blonde hair, blue eyes, and a decent build.

He's come to complain, but there's nothing Horace can do about it even if he did say something.

Horace doesn't have the authority to make personnel decisions.

"What the hell are you saying? If you ask, we're sure to get into your class, right?"

"Well, even if it's considered, that doesn't mean it'll affect the decision. We're just commoners, aren't we?"

In reality, if Horace spoke up, it would be taken into consideration.

But the Chaos Stone Palace side isn't stupid either.

They've got a pretty good idea of what Horace wants, and how he feels about this teaching gig.

After all, all Horace wants from the Dragonstone Kingdom is the right to use the Great Mine of Gold World (Kinsekai), nothing else matters if they don't push him.

He's teaching here this time, but it's Horace's choice.

Though... to be a bit sneaky, it was Velto, the head of this academy, who planted the '27-year-old unemployed' phrase on Nousa, but whatever.

He didn't come to this school for any big reason.

"What do you mean 'commoner'! You're looking down on me!"

"So, what exactly do you want?"

"Put the heroes in the exchange student class. Not for this pathetic country, but to teach in a class with me, from the Obsidian magic Dukedom, one of the Permanent Council Members, and the heroes should learn!"

 "Obsidian magic Dukedom... huh."

As the male student says, it's one of the Permanent Council Members of the 'world conference' where Bloodline Nations gather.

As the name magic Dukedom suggests, it's where the most magic research in the world is done.

Accordingly, it has the most schools in the world, and it's said that if a school is larger than a 'town', there is a magic school everywhere.

Its history goes back 1500 years, starting when the descendants of the 'Sage' who existed in the 'Great Summoning Era' 1800 years ago created a small school.

The 3 most outstanding students raised by that Sage directly built the current 'Three Great Houses', and they are the core of the Obsidian magic Dukedom.

The heads of these 3 houses take turns serving as the 'magic King'. That's how it is.

With that kind of national character, there's no doubt they have a strong attachment to the 'school' environment.

 However, yes, however.

The fact is, it doesn't concern Horace.

This boy is an exchange student.

However, the uniform I'm wearing is from this school.

It's true that it's customary for exchange students to wear this school's uniform, but it's not written in the rules that they must.

If you're going to study in this school's uniform, it's futile to demand modifications to the 'local' rules and expectations for your own sake.

"The noble families... judging by your appearance, you must be the second son of the Redless family. Certainly, it's you, Guilhem Redless."

"Heh, if you know about me, then the conversation should──"

"You'd better not get too carried away."

 "Huh?"

"I don't care about the virtues of your ideology either way. Feel free to say what you like, or be as picky as you want. That's just 'opinion'. But from there on, you demanding anything from me is not a 'given'. You're not qualified for that yet."

"Don't joke around! If you're going to lick the boots of the Obsidia Magic Dukedom, then you'll regret──"

Guilhem found himself at a loss for words.

 That was only natural.

If a man suddenly exudes such a chilling sense of dominance right in front of you, it's only to be expected.

"Make me regret? Me? From someone who understands nothing about the power dynamics of the world?"

Guilhem sweats as he takes a step closer.

"I'll say it again. I don't care about the virtues of your ideology. But if you think you can move me just by saying something, you're sorely mistaken."

As the pressure lifts, Guilhem collapses onto the ground.

Noticing this, Horace lets out a sigh and walks off.

(The Redless family... Ellie said they owe the hero community 20 million coins. Why does that son think he can act high and mighty with me? It's a mystery.)

He pondered such thoughts in his mind.
