Volume 2 Chapter 28 Let's Make Magic Tools! III

"Phew, now I think I'll be okay while I'm in the Frontier Count Shield area."

Cain muttered while looking at the magic tool labeled [Hot Water] on the table.

"Oh no, I need to make a [light] magic tool. The 'Bathhouse' will go completely dark. At the 'Bathhouse', since it's humid and gets dirty with soot, Cain uses [light] every day for the lighting. But still, parchment makes no difference. Maybe I can solve this with the new magic I just learned?"

Remembering the newly learned [Magic Circle Magic], Cain chants 'Status Open' and thinks.

"I see, I connected the [Mana] charging magic circle (that absorbs [Mana] into the magic stone) with the [Hot Water] magic circle, so I learned it. When I imagine the [Magic Circle Design] [magic], the symbols for connecting circles come to mind."

Cain's mind conjured the "++<" symbol used to connect magic circles, along with the symbols for connecting 3 magic circles.

"Right, if I change the [Magic Circle Design] to make the [Hot Water] [magic circle] a magic tool that instantly produces 300L of boiling water, it'd be easier to use, I'll just tweak the symbol here..."

Cain modified the [Hot Water] magic tool to produce 300L of [Hot Water] at once.

"Next, [Magic Circle Miniaturization] is still the same [magic], I wonder what's so great about this? Maybe it reduces space when transferring to parchment? Wait, I think [Magic Circle Transcription] could also be done on magic stones too."

Cain took a goblin magic stone, given to him by Benjamin, from his desk drawer and placed it on the desk. Then, he selected a [light] magic circle from his stock and used [Magic Circle Miniaturization] to shrink it to about half the size of the magic stone, and then transcribed it with [Magic Circle Transcription].

"It went super smoothly, but is it okay? Oh, the magic stone is a little blue, and I can see the magic circle inside. Guess I'll try it, [light]!"

He chanted "[light]", and a light appeared directly above the magic stone. Then, the magic stone shattered.

"Aaaah, I transcribed it before charging [Mana], so there wasn't enough [Mana] and it broke? I should have checked first... What a fool I am..."

Cain slumped down on the spot. He was dejected for a full 5 minutes.

"Depression over! Time to switch gears and rebuild!"

Cain, recovered, prepared a magic stone from a purchased Forest Wolf, charged [Mana], and transcribed the [magic circle].

"This time, it should be fine. [light]! Yes! Success!"

The magic stone didn't break, and light floated directly above it. Later testing revealed that copying information into the magic stone would consume its [Mana]. Also, when using [light], if the user clearly visualizes the location, they can fix the light there, so I made 2 extras just in case.

Cain quickly took the [Hot Water] and [light] magic tools and went to Randolph to explain how to use them. Since he hadn't explained the [light] tool beforehand, he got a bit scolded.

Then they went to the "bathhouse" and tried them out. Randolph said it's useful to fix the [light] in one spot, so they modified part of the wall to hold the light in place. The [Hot Water] was honestly a defective product. It was designed to produce 300 liters of hot water, so it couldn't be stopped until all 300 liters poured out. Randolph warned Cain to be careful when using it. Cain didn't remake it, but he vowed to make an improved version someday.
