Volume 6 Chapter 97-2 Leave It to the Experts

Above all, there were things only those 2 could pull off.

"Ellie. Liz. I've got a special job just for you, alright?"

At those words, Liz waited, dead serious, for what would come next.

"I need you to head to Braubelg. Let His Excellency, and Sir Cedric, know we're safe."

Liz's eyes went wide at Randy's words. "Wait, you want us to──"

"This one's gotta be the two of you. No one else I can trust with it."

Ellie was the first to nod, quick and certain. "Understood."

"One more thing... The old man's gotta be in Braubelg too. When you see him, send him off to Victor. Just time it right."

Randy grinned. Liz blinked, puzzled. "Sir Alan? Really?"

"He's the Knight Brigade's captain, after all. The guy was all fired up to go, but knowing him, he's probably lost already, wandering the wrong way."

 "...Alright. Got it."

Randy raised his hand to her nod, reaching for the doorknob. "I'm counting on you."

 "Randy!"

Ellie's voice made Randy stop and look back.

 "I'm totally fine. Promise."

He laughed, but Ellie just sighed and shook her head.

"You... Seriously, you're about to walk out there shirtless?"

At her exasperated voice, Randy froze, then scrambled to pull a spare shirt from his magic bag, mumbling, "I-I was... just about to put one on!"

"A-alright, then. I'm counting on you two."

 "Yes."

 "Of course."

Randy waved goodbye, watching Liz and Ellie slip away, then dashed into the chaotic hallway after Catherine and Leon, ready to help however he could.

The cathedral's hallways had turned into absolute mayhem.

Believers crammed in, desperate for reassurance.

People scrambling for updates from the government.

Dealing with the captured Pilgrim of Truth... and the whole empire mess.

 It was chaos.

Pure, total chaos, unfolding everywhere at once.

"Yeah, this is bad... Like, real bad..."

Randy muttered to himself, then turned his feet towards the main entrance of the cathedral.

The square in front of the cathedral, where followers should have been welcomed, was likely in the height of chaos.

And it wasn't just a few people; there was a flood of them.

In that case, he had to consider the worst-case scenario.

Randy, having pushed through the crowded nave, opened the door to the outside and saw Catherine using her calming Holy Magic on the pressing crowd of followers.

The faint light covering the entire square was visibly soothing the followers, bringing them down from their excitement.

 "Gotta do something..."

As Randy grumbled, a man who appeared to be a [Pilgrim of Truth] hiding among the followers charged at Catherine with a knife in hand.

This was bad. Randy tried to push through the crowd... but at that moment, Leon next to Catherine swiftly took down the rioter.

 "Gotcha, too bad."

As the man had subdued cursed out loud, more assassins leaped towards Catherine from all directions.

But they too were all swiftly restrained by the stern followers and Church Knights.

Watching the spectacular arrests unfold, Randy couldn't help but scratch his cheek and chuckle wryly.

"Looks like they've got this under control..."

Satisfied, Randy's next destination was the makeshift detention room in the church's basement.

Normally used for the training of priests and sisters, he'd heard it was now holding some of the people captured in the ongoing [Pilgrim of Truth] hunt since last night.

A temporary measure until the knights and guards could take over, he hurried there, suspecting that amidst this chaos, the detainees might try to free their comrades...

 "Secure."

 "This one's secure too."

The Church Knights were calmly apprehending the infiltrated [Pilgrim of Truth], showing their excellence.

"Oh? Sir Randolph, have you been called upon?"

"No... just thought I might lend a hand."

As Randy scratched his head, the Church Knights saluted him, saying, "We appreciate your concern."

"With Archbishop Ridley's orders and the Saintly Lady back, well..."

Randy, who had been indirectly told there was nothing left to do, gave a quick bow and muttered, "Yeah, right..." before leaving the scene.

The only thing left to do was ask Archbishop Ridley if there was anything he could help with on the government side...

"Definitely best to stay out of politics,"

 He mumbled to himself.

Randy turned and started walking back the way he came, as the hallway, still bustling, seemed quieter than before.

He muttered to himself, "I should've just gone home with them."

Just then, Annabelle appeared, struggling with a heavy load.

"Lady Annabelle, what are you doing?"

 "Ah! Sir Randolph..."

Annabelle noticed him, quickly bowing her head.

She explained that she was going to prepare food for the believers gathered around the Cathedral in need.

"Ah, well, sounds like you need some help then."

"Oh, would you really help us?"

"Of course, no problem at all."

With a big smile and a flex, Randy effortlessly picked up the heavy load Annabelle had been dragging.

"W-Well, the food's at the plaza, but... there are other supplies too."

"Got it. Leave it to me. You handle the food, I'll take care of the rest."

Led by Annabelle, Randy disappeared into the Cathedral, carrying the supplies with ease.

As expected, Annabelle, along with the Saint Catherine, Archbishop Ridley, Leon, and the Church Knights, were all busy at the food distribution.

And Randy, of course, was running around in the background, doing all the heavy lifting.
