Volume 1 Chapter 26 Benjamin III
Today, Benjamin was in the forest again.
He had brought back a Wileyboar, but cute Alice gave him that look from under her lashes and said, "I want to try something else to eat." Benjamin just couldn't say no.
As he walked through the forest, he was thinking about the "Maintenance" training he had just done.
'That was close earlier. My MP is low, but "Circulation" worked well and gave me some serious power. When I teach the students at the academy, I'd better make sure they don't lift their arms too soon, or there'll be accidents.'
Unlike yesterday, he was in a more open part of the forest.
'The hunter, Rikka, said she saw guinea fowl around here, I think.'
He scanned his surroundings, pondering.
'If I use "Release" like yesterday, they'll probably just run away. Maybe I should try [Mana Vision].'
He thought that if guinea fowl use [Thunder magic], he might be able to see them with [Mana Vision].
He saw 5 points moving in the direction of his right hand.
'Alright, it worked. Let's move in slowly.'
Benjamin moved towards the direction of the 5 points without making a sound.
There was a small pond, a watering hole for animals.
Five guinea fowl were drinking water and bathing at the edge.
Always on guard, at least one of them was keeping watch.
'I can't get any closer than this. It's a bit far, but let's give it a shot.'
He performed "Circulation" 3 times more than usual and activated his "magic.".
"Ice Needle Rain‼"
Countless ice needles attacked the guinea fowl.
Two of them were pierced by multiple needles and stopped moving.
The remaining 3 were injured but managed to fly away.
Then, the somewhat larger guinea fowl spotted Benjamin and charged towards him.
"BZZZZZZ" The guinea fowl's body glowed, and multiple beams of light struck Benjamin.
"Ouch, is it using a "thunder magic" attack?"
Taking the hit on his left arm, Benjamin hid behind a large tree.
After that, several beams of light hit around the tree where Benjamin was hiding, and there was a slight smell of something burning.
"You birds better not get too full of yourselves. 'Ice Brit'."
The ice chunks hit the guinea fowl, killing it instantly.
"Phew, that was close. I won't let them get me, but if they get hurt, Alice would be sad."
Benjamin smiled as he brought back 3 guinea fowl total, hugging Alice.

Three days later, Cain finished his "Mana Control" training.
'That last smooth move... maybe Cain really did master [Mana Control]. I want him to keep getting better, so I'll tease him a little.'
He patted Cain's head, praising him.
"By the way, if you can throw a solid chunk of this 'Mana' like it is now, you can attack without magic spells."
Benjamin quickly did "Circulation" 3 times, then shot a ball of "Mana" from his right hand.
The "Mana" ball hit a tree around 50 cm thick and burst.
It left a big hole in the tree, which cracked loudly and fell backward.
Seeing this, Cain opened his mouth wide, dumbfounded.
'Alright, alright, did I keep my older brother pride with that?'

Two days after the new year, Benjamin rode in a carriage back to the academy.
He reread notes about what he learned during Cain's training while the carriage shook.
'This trip home really gave me a lot. Thanks to Cain, I found ways to improve "Mana Control" training. And I got to hang out with Cain and Alice after a long time. Though I didn't talk much with Father and Mother.'
'Next year, I'll come back for New Year's again. I'm responsible as Cain's teacher, after all.'
Benjamin smiled again and headed home, thinking about his next trip back.
