Volume 2 Chapter 32 Strolling Through the Village II
The villagers froze as they saw the vast field plowed in an instant, while the monster tamer boy (Tony) waited for Wayne's revival for 30 seconds.
"W-what the heck is this! Is the young master a big magician?"
"Eh, just a regular 'Earth magic' user?"
Wayne and Tony looked at Cain with expressions that clearly said, "Where's the big magic?"
"A-as promised, here's your pay."
"Y-yeah. You were lucky."
The villager paid and quickly left the scene.
"Now, let me introduce myself properly. I'm Cain, the 4th son of the Viscount Sanroze family."
"I'm Tony, a monster tamer. I'm the owner of this Cowcowbull and I work plowing fields for villagers instead of them."
"Tony, I think I'm younger than you, so just talk normally. Can you call me Cain?"
"O-oh, thanks, Cain."
Wayne was glaring sharply, but since they were kids, Tony decided to ignore it.
"But why did you help me? Even nobles can't just take Hanako from me."
"I'm not asking you to give her up. But if I'm right, you'll have to come to the Sanroze region's town."
"Sanroze region's town? Are you planning to make me do something dangerous?"
Tony began to feel cautious.
"I'm not asking for anything dangerous, so don't worry. But to get to the point, does Hanako produce milk?"
"Milk? What's that?"
"Uh, well, milk, breast milk?"
Cain tilted his head while listing similar words.
"Ah, milk, yeah. It does, but if regular people drink it, they'll get a stomachache."
"Oh, 'milk' works, huh? Well then, can I drink that 'milk' now?"
"If you go back to my sister's place and let Tonko, the baby cow, drink some milk first, then sure."
"Alright, let's go! Oh, but we should stop by the general store and get some herbs first."
Cain, Tony, Wayne, and Hanako trudged to the general store, bought fever-reducing herbs, and arrived at the barn where Tony and the others were staying.
"Hey sis, we're back! We got the medicine, so you'll be okay now!"
Cain and Wayne waited outside, as they heard a woman was inside. Faintly, they could hear Tony and the woman arguing. Then, the sound of things being tidied up, and then it stopped, and Tony came out.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. Uh, I apologize for the dirty place, but please, come in."
He invited Cain and the others in, as if reading from a script.
"Tony, why did you suddenly start talking so formally? Oh, excuse us."
Entering the dimly lit barn, the entrance was a dirt-floored area, with a 3-tatami-mat-sized wooden space to the left where a woman was sitting.
"Good evening, excuse me. I am Cain Sanroze. I have come to ask for some milk."
He greeted the woman, emphasizing "safety". The woman appeared to be around 18 years old, a little thin, but cute.
"Thank you for your kindness. I am Nana, Tony's older sister. I'm sorry for the cramped space."
Nana bowed her head in greeting, though still sitting.
"Likewise, I'm sorry to trouble you while you're sick. We'll leave as soon as I have the milk."
"I heard from Tony, but are you really going to drink the Cowcowbull milk? It might upset your stomach if you're not used to it."
"It's okay, we have a plan."
While they were talking with Nana, Tony returned with the milk in a wooden bowl.
"Sorry to keep you waiting, Cain, but are you sure you want to drink it?"
Tony offered the wooden bowl of milk, looking worried. Cain took it, saying "Thank you."
The milk in the wooden bowl was a slightly yellowish color compared to cow's milk. It looked rich. Cain took out a [purification] magic circle card from his pocket, poured in [Mana], and used it.
The milk emitted a soft glow and disappeared. Then, he took a sip.
"Delicious, a little rich, but it's good, Tony!"
"Sir Cain, are you alright?"
Wayne asked with a worried look.
"Yeah, since I used [purification] magic, I don't think you'll get a stomach ache. Want to try some, Wayne?"
Wayne, hesitantly, took a sip from the wooden bowl.
"It's my first time trying this flavor, but it's not bad. I think I'll start to like it once I get used to it."
He answered, a bit surprised. Cain smiled gently, already starting to think about what to make with this milk.
