Volume 2 Chapter 50 Let's Improve the Town Road System II
Cain and his group prepared for camping at the campsite. Soon, Lydia and her group arrived. They were a bit early, but they should have arrived even earlier since they traveled on the Cobblestone road. Cain worried if something happened and ran to the carriage Lydia's group was in.
When Cain reached the carriage door, Lydia and Alice got off after Lala. They ran to Cain and hugged him tightly.
"Cain, this road is amazing! It barely shakes, and we can go fast. It's very comfortable!"
Lydia talked to Cain, unable to contain her excitement.
"Cain, thank you. I could rest and read books on this road."
Alice also spoke to Cain, excited.
"Wait, calm down. Mother Lydia, Elder Sister Alice, I'm glad you're happy. Please, one at a time. I can't hear if you talk simultaneously."
Cain gently separated them and calmed them down.
"First, Mother Lydia, please. But only one question. Weren't you supposed to arrive even earlier? Did something happen?"
"Sorry, let me explain why we were late first. We planned to arrive before noon, but Elder Brothers were late, so we left late. We were about 2 hours late, but we arrived this early because of the road you made! I want to tell Luke about this soon."
Lydia started talking to herself, perhaps thinking about various things, and entered her own world.
"Now it's my turn. Thanks to the road Cain made, I didn't feel sick on the way. The trip was honestly tough for me. Thank you, I'm really happy that the obstacle to visiting Grandma is gone." Alice hugged Cain again.
After Lydia and Alice's emotional reunion, they started building the annual wall at the campsite. The Doughtons were quite surprised since it was their first time. They planned to leave a few hours earlier than Lydia's group tomorrow and start working, but they might be overtaken halfway. They considered advancing together, but they worried that if they fell behind, Lydia's group might not reach the campsite either.

The next day, they started preparing before the sun rose and left as soon as it began to brighten. The work progressed smoothly until they reached a narrow part of the road, where they had to shorten the distance they worked on at once. They joined Lydia's group around noon, had lunch, and resumed working.
"Sir Cain, it will be a long uphill road from here. How should we set the working distance?"
Barvish confirms with Cain while looking at the map and the slope.
"It's difficult to stop halfway, so let's try our best to reach the top. Also, since it's an uphill road, there might be more shaking, so roughen the stone surface a bit."
Cain's advance team reached the top of the hill first, about 800 meters away, just enough to see the flag. Cain slowly and carefully circulated [Mana] and performed [magic] on the road. The "Cobblestone" transformation progressed more slowly than usual and finally finished. The Doughtons waved the flag, indicating that the "Cobblestone" transformation was complete. The workers, including Cain, were very tired, but their spirits lifted when they saw the town, and they continued working with smiles until the end. Guards and residents welcomed Cain's group at the castle gate. The final [magic] performance was like a grand chorus.
"We're done! Everyone, thank you for your hard work!"
As Cain finished speaking, cheers erupted. Although it was quite tough, Cain had never experienced a job that could make people rejoice like this even during Michio's time. This sense of accomplishment was addictive, Cain thought.
