Volume 3 Chapter 6 Which One Should I Choose First?

Two weeks have passed since Husband and Wife's Day. The cold is gradually easing. Snowdrops and flowers are sprouting in sunny places. Cain hopes it will soon be warm enough to enjoy the sunshine outside.

Perhaps because it's spring, everyone's expressions at the mansion are very gentle. Especially the members who made the cake still thank Cain even now, after some time.

"Thanks to Sir Luke and Sir Cain, my wife is so kind." "My wife is happy and smiling every day."

It's hard to tell if it's gratitude or just bragging.

Speaking of Luke and Lydia, they have been close since then. From an outsider's perspective, they just seem to be flirting. Probably because Randolph will return soon, they are enjoying it now.

Cain has been staying in the library recently in the afternoons, thinking about his next business. He pondered alone for about 2 days but couldn't come up with any ideas. So today, he gathered Gardy and Barvish for a discussion.

"Today, I want you to help me think about the next project."

Cain arranged three wooden boards in front of Gardy and Barvish. The boards had pictures of a wall, a bath, and a hole. But to others, the pictures looked quite artistic—though honestly, they were quite poorly drawn.

"Sir Cain, what are these pictures? Is this a bath? And the other two? Umm, what are they?"

Barvish asked with a straight face, tilting her head, unable to think of anything besides the bath picture.

"A door? No, a gate? There's no entrance, Sir Cain... could it be a wall?"

Gardy also turned the wooden board with the wall picture and looked at it upside down before asking.

"Umm, well. These are... walls, pictures of town walls, public baths, and sewage systems. But they are hard to understand."

In the end, Cain answered with a voice so faint it almost disappeared. Cain had his forehead resting on the table and was sunk in thought. He stayed like that for about 5 minutes. Then he suddenly got up and smiled happily.

"You know, I don't care if my drawings are bad. There's no point worrying. People have different skills. When Lala comes back, I'll ask her to draw for me."

Cain muttered to himself, as if explaining to no one. By the way, maid Lala has the skill to draw with her abilities. (She told Cain secretly before.) She is the best artist in the mansion.

"This is a plan for my future business. I want to write down how long it will take to finish, the estimated costs, and the price I want to get."

Fully recovered, Cain began explaining the wooden block prints.

"The drawing──no, never mind. It's easier for the person receiving the explanation if I show the picture, costs, and price all together. They don't need to memorize everything."

Barvish noticed how useful the wooden block prints were and got a little excited.

"As expected of Sir Cain. Even if you cannot read, this makes the explanation easy to understand."

Gardy nodded and praised the wooden prints while asking himself questions.

"It's not such a big thing. If you praise me like that, I'll get embarrassed. What I wanted to ask you both is about the time and cost to finish. I will make everything using [Earth magic], so I think it will be quick once I start. That was also true for Cobblestone. When the villagers come to watch, it takes a little more time because I need to ensure safety."

"I really appreciate the support. Seeing that gives me energy. But if I need to narrow down the [magic] effect range, it will take more time."

Gardy and Barvish listened carefully to Cain's explanation. Barvish even took notes on a small wooden block print she took out partway.

"Also, I am worried about the fees. Because I want to improve the town, I think free is fine. However, considering what happens later, I thought it would be difficult to make Cobblestone outside Sanroze territory. And also, when making town walls, I thought it might be a problem."

"Regarding the reward, it is very important for Shamrock household servants."

Barvish also started to worry. Gardy mumbled while thinking, looking worried.

Then, they all gave their opinions and argued for 4 hours.
