Volume 1 Chapter 12 Genderbent Female Knight, A Sudden Duel
"Choose your weapon, but they're all wooden."
"Hmph, quite a variety. I'll take this longsword since it's all I've used."
Eleonora said that, then picked up a wooden sword shaped like a two-handed sword. Even with an iron core, it was still wooden. It would hurt if it hit, but it wouldn't kill unless one's luck was extremely bad. She practiced a few swings to get the feel, then placed it on her shoulder.
"...Is that armor really okay?"
Gustavo referred to the leather armor he had brought from his family home. Boiled or not, it was leather. Its defensive capabilities couldn't compare to plate armor.
"I'm poor, so I've never worn plate armor. This is what I'm used to."
"...If you get hurt, it's your responsibility."
"That's obvious."
In contrast, Gustavo donned his plate armor, holding a shield in his left hand and a versatile sword called a Bastard Sword in his right.
"Seems you have some basic readiness. I can't forgive you more, though. Your body shows you've trained and fought."
"My dad died before I could learn, so it's all self-taught."
"...Hearing that, I can't lose. You could have achieved more with a proper teacher."
"In ten years, I'll be an adventurer. I don't need it."
With those words, they both took their stances. Gustavo made the first move, stepping in and swinging his sword horizontally. Eleonora dodged with a backstep, then advanced, thrusting with her shield ready. She swept his shield and sword to the right, causing Gustavo to lose his balance, spin, but remain grounded, facing Eleonora.
(What absurd strength! I thought I'd have to carry my shield!)
"You've got guts. Most who fight me fall with a light hit and don't get up. This is refreshing."
"Sure, but I don't have time to enjoy it!"
She struck with a reverse slash, not even checking her opponent's reaction, and followed up with a shield bash, sending him flying backward.
Eleonora turned her left shoulder and grinned, even though she felt the touch of flesh on the shield.
"I see, I enjoyed your elegant swordsmanship. Now, let's show off my barbaric swordsmanship."
Eleonora put power into her thick legs like logs and approached Gustavo in a single leap, swinging her longsword as if scooping. The shield, which Gustavo had thrust forward to defend, was scooped up and lifted with her left hand. Then, a knee was slammed into his exposed stomach.
"Gah!?"
Gustavo made a sound like a crushed frog, his stomach pushed in by the dented plate armor with a "thud." Eleonora swung her longsword from above as if to stab the bent Gustavo. Gustavo received the impact in a bad position and put his hands on the ground, getting on all fours.
"Use everything you can, you fool. You are like that because you are only using both hands honestly."
"Y-you..."
"Besides, you can't damage plate armor with a sword, so you just have to give it an effective impact."
Where is the fool who knee-kicks a lump of metal! Gustavo swallowed the sour and hot thing that came up his throat, wanting to shout. Perhaps out of consideration for Gustavo, Eleonora moved away a little. Gustavo decided to use his mass to win.
(This is plate armor, and if it combines with my weight, it's quite a thing... No matter how good the physique, there should be pain! I will grapple there!)
"Oooooooh!!!!"
Gustavo shouted and started running, holding up his shield. The shield bash, loaded with the weight of the armor and his own weight, should break a bone. Gustavo could not lose as a member of the martial arts family; he could not tarnish the swordsmanship passed down through the generations.
Therefore, Gustavo could not understand. That a knight would throw away his sword.
"Huh!?"
Gustavo's feet stopped involuntarily, and he reflexively swung his shield, dropping his sword. For that instant, his vision was blocked by the shield, and the sword was knocked down. There, his vision opened. Eleonora was there, swinging her right hand.
"Take this!"
A straight fist caught Gustavo's jaw. The sensation of his jaw dislocating and his brain being violently shaken in his skull made him give up standing. Because of his tangled feet, he fell backward, and his weight and armor escorted him to the ground. With a heavy thud, the consciousness of his target, Gustavo Di Retonto, fell into darkness.
