Volume 23 Chapter 14-2 Viscount Morgan And The Fitzs

Marcus and Lucas nodded in agreement with Fitz's words. Eric had said he wasn't treated *that* badly, but he was likely still kept in a muzzle and shackles the entire time.

Even that alone would be considered quite harsh treatment.

"By the way, what about Mr. Eric? He was taken early this morning. Al, do you know anything about it?"

I see, these three don't know the situation at all. Al explained that he had recaptured Eric along with Leda and captured Cole and his bodyguard Rachel.

"I see, so Leda wasn't captured. Is she coming here?"

"Yes. Right now, Lady Leda is joining a separate team of mercenaries from the Levy Merchant Guild along with Mr. Eric."

They should have already met up with Desmond and the others. The treatment of the injured should be done by now, and they might be on their way here. Fitz nodded once before frowning.

"I see. That's good. But, did you capture Cole and the other one without killing them? If so, be careful of the woman named Rachel."

Shouldn't it be Cole to be careful of, then?

"No, Cole is extreme, but there are a few like him in the Sylvester Kingdom's magician guild. They're obsessed with spell research, almost to the point of madness, and lack common sense. They're hard to handle but have no interest in anything else, so they probably have no malicious intent."

There are a few people like him... Al shuddered, imagining four or five people like Cole approaching with parchment and pens.

It was the right decision to leave the detection of the option to Eric and Leda.

"And Rachel, while posing as Cole's bodyguard, is probably a supervisor to keep him from going out of control. No, now that I think about it, she might be a spy. When Cole was compiling materials, she would read them next to him and ask questions, especially about the downsides of using the option. She might have been planning countermeasures. She also kept asking us about Al's social circle."

"I heard that Al and Lady Leda are in a romantic relationship."

"Ah, that's why you had Lady Leda announce it, right?"

I see. A spy from the Marquis Prentis family, huh? They did call Al a blond brat, so it might be true.

"Understood. Thank you. According to Lady Leda's information, Mr. Eric's mansion in Border City Lester is occupied by Viscount Lester's subordinates. We'll likely leave soon and head to Border City Parker. Will you join us?"

Fitz frowned at Al's words, thought for a moment, and then slowly nodded.

"I see. We must confirm with Mr. Eric, but we'll likely have no choice. If I remember correctly, there was a magician Mr. Eric was friendly with in Border City Parker. However, we're slow walkers. Won't we be a burden?"

If they can take a short break, a few of them might be able to ride on the 'Carrier' chairs. No, five might be too many. There will likely be injured people too.

"I'll consult with Guildmaster Levy about that. Mr. Fitz, please rest for now."

"Understood. Hm? Wait a moment, are you injured on your back? There's blood on it."

As Al was about to move to Guildmaster Levy, Fitz called out to him.

"Ah, I was shot with a bow, but it's fine..."

"With a bow? Let me see it, just in case."

Three people quickly removed his coat and leather armor. Fitz checked the wound, likely sniffing to see if there was poison. In the rush, Al had completely forgotten about it.

Speaking of which, he hasn't seen Orson around. He wonders if he's okay.

"The bleeding has stopped. The wound isn't that big. Do you have any medicine for it?"

 "Ah, yes."

"Then apply it just in case. It will be hard for you to apply it to your back by yourself. Marcus, Lucas, please help him."

Fitz said that and received the ointment Al took out from his belt pouch. It was a salve Al learned from Morris, his hunting master when he was young, for treating wounds.

He helped Marcus and Lucas apply it to the wound.

"Well, applying it like this should prevent it from getting infected."

 "Thank you very much."

"No, I should be the one thanking you this time. I truly appreciate it."

Fitz bowed deeply. It was surprising, but he probably genuinely felt his life had been saved.

 "Well, see you later."

 "Yeah"

 "See you later."

Al started running toward the plaza in front of the villa where Guildmaster Levy and the others were, seeing off the three of them.
