Volume 5 Chapter 44 With My Victory, The Scenario Is Set

 Horace wore pure white armor.

 Rio held a golden handgun.

The fight between them started, fierce and intense.

The handgun shot out a super-dense laser.

It looked like it could cut through anything. Even though it wasn't thick, a powerful laser was scary.

Just pulling the trigger and moving it left and right showed amazing strength. That's the power of a weapon that shoots strong lasers.

But Horace charged, swinging his magic sword.

He cut through all the lasers and kept going.

"Haha! Cool! Normally, cutting lasers doesn't work like cutting bullets, but you're cutting them like they're one big thing!"

"The magic sword learned that. I didn't know it could do that."

Before, Horace stopped lasers by changing the air or space around them.

Now, he sees all the lasers as one thing and cuts them in one swipe.

It's like his thinking got fixed after being messed up many times. It's hard to understand.

Magic needs belief to work. If you don't believe, it doesn't matter how strong the magic is.

How can someone think like that? How do they believe it and use it in a fight?

Anyway, Horace Glasha's strength has clearly grown.

"It's like your talent took over what the magic sword knew. Even Laris can't match that!"

 Rio kept firing lasers happily.

Horace cut and destroyed every single one.

Not many people come here. The key to this place was held by Laris, a being from a thousand years ago. For Rio, it's been a thousand years since anyone visited.

There's probably a lot he wants to talk about.

There's probably a lot he wants to say.

 Horace listened to everything.

"Come on, Horace! Show me everything you've got! The scabbard holds a super powerful sword. Prove you're worthy of it! Show me your strength!"

"...I'll come back to life, so I won't hold back!"

 "Let's go!"

In the next moment, the magic sword Duran released a huge burst of energy, like a volcano erupting.

 It was overwhelming.

The air shook, and even space seemed to bend.

 "...That's amazing."

"This old monster beside me who can stop this monster-like 'pressure' is just as impressive."

"Mr. Lucibes is amazing, isn't he?"

"Yeah, Nou-Nou. He's using a barrier, so he can't move, but it's still incredible. Sometimes I wish he'd just fall over."

"Artia, I'll beat you up later."

Ginji, Nousa, Artia, and Lucibes watched from the sidelines.

The fight between Horace and Rio was beyond brutal—it was like a myth, not something humans could do.

The wind from the fight could cause a lot of damage.

But Lucibes raised his right hand, and a semi-transparent wall appeared, blocking everything.

It even stopped Rio's golden laser. When the laser came close, Artia and Ginji got scared, but the barrier held strong.

"That magic power is like a volcano. How much power do you have inside? But if you can't control it, it's useless!"

 "No..."

Horace gripped his magic sword tightly.

"No matter how strong you are, it doesn't matter. I'm going to win."

 "...What?"

"Since you took human form, you've barely moved. You're like a fixed gun at a base."

 "So?"

"Your only attack is that laser. So... my victory is certain."

 "You said it, kid."

Rio aimed his pistol, gathered magic power, and started charging.

The magic power grew quickly, so he'd finish charging soon.

The magic power from the gun and the magic power from the sword clashed.

 Both powers faced off...

"...Horace, I want to ask you something."

 "? "

 "You're not just human, right?"

 "...Yeah."

"I'm stuck here and can't enter the 'Cross Palace.' I don't know what's happening in the world. But I saw you control your body like a golem. There's more to it, isn't there?"

"...Twelve years ago, I died and came back as a monster using a resurrection item."

"...I see. When the warriors attacked you, I didn't feel anger from you. You accepted that killing monsters is right. It makes sense now."

 "So, what now?"

Rio closed his eyes for a moment.

Until now, it was just an idea.

He seemed to be deciding whether to ask.

"If you're a monster, you should have skills. Humans have nerves that make magic stable. Monsters don't have that. They have 'symbols' inside them and use magic by combining them."

He opened his eyes and looked at Horace.

"Humans call that combination 'skills.' Even if you became a monster later, you should have skills. What's your skill?"

After saying that, Rio raised an eyebrow, like he felt something.
