Volume 5 Chapter 45-2 [Cross Palace SIDE] The Legendary Dragons Speak At The Tavern

They looked toward where the voice came from.

There was... the Skyscraper Dragon. Real name: Oboroas. That was Boroas's dragon form.

It looked like a "blue dragon" without wings, just floating in the air.

And sitting on top of its head—Laris Glasha.

 "Wha, ah—hey! That's you, Dad!?"

 "Father. Nice to meet you."

Zethar and Gai both looked super shocked.

Rio got sealed 1800 years ago, and he wasn't allowed inside the Cross Palace.

Also, to meet him, you gotta take the "Trial of the Sheath."

So, for Zethar and Gai—born 1000 years ago and known as legends—this was their first time meeting their dad, Rio.

"Why are you even here...? And Laris too. What is going on?"

 "I saw a rare face."

Laris floated down gently, and Rio turned back from dragon to human form.

They landed together and walked to the table with alcohol.

"Basically, after Horace accepted it, I got a path into this place from Shildress."

 "...What does that mean?"

"For the deep stuff, just think of it like I was 'sorting my business out.'"

Zethar tilted his head. Laris answered casually.

 Gai didn't look convinced.

 "...Shildress is organizing his surroundings?"

"He picked up the fragments. He got the sheath too. It's clear Horace is gonna challenge him."

"He's also using the power of the magic sword, Duran. Horace should be strong enough to fight Shildress."

 "...Laris, you seem kinda happy."

 "Yeah."

 Laris smiled real soft.

"Even for me, Horace is someone worth liking."

 "You say it that strongly?"

"Honestly, even if he fought all 4 dragons here at once, he could still win."

"Yeah. One swing per dragon, done."

 "That's not even an exaggeration..."

In other words, Laris broke a wall you're not supposed to break with strength.

 Astral Dragon – Gai Gigant.

 Hoardspirit Dragon – Zeth Halcon.

 Calamityshade Dragon – Terra Disas.

 Skyscraper Dragon – Oboroas.

All 4 dragons' real bodies can beat each other with just one sword swing.

Depending on who goes first, it might even end in one hit.

A guy who can crush those monsters with just four swings.

That kind of guy being called "worth favoring" is totally insane.

"Laris always says the same thing when it's about strength, so whatever... but it's rare for you to leave the mansion and come into town."

"I came because Rio invited me."

"Actually, there was no one else to invite but me. That's more accurate."

A lot of legends walk around here in physical form.

Of course, some are from the Glasha family, way before Laris.

Some even challenged the "Trial of Sheath."

But the number of people Rio remembers is really small.

Laris is so strong and overwhelming that Rio forgets everyone else and goes, "Wait, who were the others again?"

So Rio went to the mansion and invited Laris.

 That's how this happened.

"Honestly, I figured Horace might be able to beat Shildress. But I totally didn't expect Dad to show up."

"I, like, completely forgot I had a dad!!"

 "I'm gonna break you."

 "Sorry..."

 Zethar apologized right away.

Rio's face got a little scary.

"...So, anything else to talk about, you kids?"

"Terra ate big bro (Gai)'s pudding last week without asking."

 "HEY! That—!"

"Terra, I've told you a million times. Stop touching my pudding!"

...Just now, Gai was the one stopping Zethar and Terra from fighting.

But now, after what Zethar just said, a vein popped on Gai's forehead.

 "...You're mad over one pudding?"

"He said he ate all 100 of them."

 "No wonder he's mad."

Rio let out a long sigh.

"YOU. TASTE THE GRUDGE OF FOOD, DAMN IT!!"

 "WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA!!"

Gai and Terra's chase began... and soon, they both left the tiny rooftop restaurant.

 "...Sigh."

Laris picked up a bottle of booze.

He flicked the cork with his finger toward the restaurant's corner.

...It felt like it hit something invisible, and then that something vanished.

 "...Who was that?"

"Probably Eudynes. Never met him, though."

He poured the drink into a glass and drank.

"...So, was there a reason you chased him away? Doesn't really matter if he's around."

"Rio doesn't know much about Eudynes. Well, someday he'll probably start calling him a bastard."

Laris grabbed some cheese and munched. It looked like nice cheese.

 "By the way, Zethar..."

 "Huh?"

"Shaved ice. Why'd you bring five?"

Zethar brought more shaved ice than needed. Enough for five people.

"Lucia heard wrong and turned two into five. Price stayed the same."

"Luster Report's involved, huh. That's way too much, even for fun. Well, whatever. I'll take one."

 "Sure, go ahead."

Laris took one and sat in a chair nearby.

 "...So now what happens next?"

As he thought about what might happen with his descendants...

he ate a giant bite of shaved ice and immediately—

 "KIINNN!"

 Brain freeze.
