Volume 7 Chapter 25 A Special Individual Who Is A Brainless Mad Engineer

By the time lunch break ended and afternoon electives began, Randy, accompanied by Ellie and Liz, visited the Magic Tool Research Club again. Since they'd been coming daily, even Liz seemed to have gotten used to the eerie atmosphere and no longer looked scared.

However, this time it was just the three of them. Everyone else had afternoon electives, and after yesterday's events, they couldn't afford to skip class. This applied not only to Randy's friends but also to Emma, the vice president of the Magic Tool Research Club.

Despite everyone being busy, thanks to yesterday's impact, there were quite a few students in the club.

"Probably more will come after classes end."

Noah mentioned, smiling. Just that morning, they'd received numerous inquiries from members.

"Not exactly election campaigning... but it's true we're getting attention."

 "Attention, huh..."

Randy furrowed his brows. He hadn't planned any of this, but as Noah said, the type of attention directed at them had clearly changed.

 "Finally, everyone's realized I'm handsome—"

 "No way that's true."

 "Right."

Randy pouted at the harsh responses, "Why not?!"

 "Hahaha. Mr. Randolph, you're loved!"

Randy smiled back, "Yeah, I guess so." He was happy that not only Ellie but also Liz had started treating him casually, closing the distance between them.

 "Well, jokes aside..."

 "Yeah..."

Noah's smile shifted—now the smile of the Magic Tool Research Club president.

 "The photoglyph plate—"

"Yes, but also, since we have such talented members, can we assign them to verify some concerns?"

As Randy spoke, Noah turned to the lobby, where the students gave them a thumbs-up with smiles.

 "Thanks."

Randy smiled back. He began, "Speaking of concerns..."

What Randy was concerned about was why the Illusory Strain Crystal, once used for measuring magical power, was considered inaccurate.

"It just glows and changes shape, so how did they determine it was inaccurate?"

 "Ah, that's because—"

"The previous user's magical power remains. ...Right?"

Randy smirked, and Noah looked surprised, "You figured it out." He explained that this fact was discovered when the Illusory Strain Crystal was in use, which is why it's no longer used.

"When I projected magical power onto it, it emitted seven colors of light. That's when it clicked."

The magical power Liz had used before Randy was still lingering inside the Illusory Strain Crystal.

"So, last night I tried something—"

Randy showed Noah a photo. Not regular-sized, but enlarged on a copier. It showed Liz and Ellie sitting on a sofa, with Randy's smug figure faintly visible above them.

"I see. By converting light into magical power and projecting it, your image remained."

"That's it. And I thought I'd leave the solution to this issue to the club."

Saying that, Randy took a folded memo from his pocket and handed it to Noah.

"I got a few ideas from a super-talented magician, just for reference—"

Noah opened the memo and his eyes lit up, "This is..." He turned to the members.

"Everyone, this is simple but interesting."

As Noah waved the paper, the members gathered around, gasping, "What's this circuit...?" "Wow..." "Amazing..." Their eyes sparkled as they focused on Ellie's scribbled notes.

The memo mainly described a method of resetting the Illusory Strain Crystal by projecting specific magical power onto it. This would clear the remaining magical power in the lens after the transfer was complete.

It was a simple but effective method. Of course, the circuitry and mechanisms behind it were complex enough to pique the club's interest.

"I'll leave the Illusory Strain Crystal we used yesterday here."

Liz pulled a large Illusory Strain Crystal lens from thin air and placed it in the lobby. Almost simultaneously, the memo passed from Noah's hand to another student, and everyone clustered around the Illusory Strain Crystal, carrying it to the lab.

"I wish I could join them..."

Noah's eyes sparkled. Randy patted his shoulder, "What are you saying?"

"I need your opinion on this..."

Randy whispered, taking a flat, white board from his magic bag. It had no visible purpose. Noah asked.

 "This?"

 "Yeah."

 Randy nodded, turning to Liz.

"Liz, can you make a prototype copier?"

 "Got it."

Liz replied, pulling out a prototype from thin air. Randy attached the photoglyph plate to it. He removed the space for the large photosensitive paper, and it fit perfectly, as originally designed.

Then, he attached yesterday's photo to the prototype and pressed the button. Everyone—Noah, Ellie, and Liz—watched intently as he held the button down a bit longer.

 "That should do it."

Randy said, removing the photoglyph plate. A photo printed on a thick board was revealed. Except for the thickness, it was identical to yesterday's transfer.

 "Hmm?"

Noah tilted his head, then extended his hand to Randy, "May I see it?"
