A few days after that eventful day, Cain and his group arrived at a spot several kilometers away from the Sanroze town. The weather was clear, the sun felt warm, and a gentle breeze made it pleasant. In front of them, a river flowed slowly.
They stood on a small hill. For some reason, Cain felt a strong sense of nostalgia as he looked at the scenery.
"Sir Cain, Sir Cain? Are you okay?"
Barvish called out to Cain, who was staring at the river.
"Ah, sorry. I was just lost in thought."
Cain turned around after hearing Barvish's voice.
They had come to the place where the sewer exit would be built. Since the Sanroze town was located a bit higher than this spot, the plan was to bring the treated sewage here and release it into the river. A special magic would prevent backflow, but if the river water rose above the drain level, the sewage couldn't be released. So, the drain needed to be built higher than the water level.
"Sir Cain, the magic stone installation is done. It's quite far from the town, but is that okay?"
Gardy returned to Cain after setting up the magic stones for marking.
"If we split it into a few trips, it should work, right? I checked earlier with [Earth Scan], and there are no rocks or minerals blocking the way."
Cain replied with a small smile, remembering the recent meteorite incident.
"Well, we should get going soon, or we'll be late for our meeting with Tony."
Barvish urged them to move.

When Cain and the others returned to the new city gate in the Sanroze region, Tony and his group were already waiting outside.
"Cain, you're late. Hanako got so bored waiting that she ate all the grass in front of the gate."
Tony pointed to the area beside the gate with his thumb.
Indeed, when they left that morning, there had been a lot of weeds, but now they were neatly trimmed, as if cut.
"Hanako, thank you. I'll tell the Head of the Maintenance Bureau later so you can get your weed-cutting allowance."
Cain approached Hanako and patted her head.
"Well, Tony. I want you to introduce the slime you made your familiar."
"Understood. It's waiting in the forest over there, so let's go."
Tony pointed to a forest a short distance from the town gate.
Led by Tony, they moved near the edge of the forest and grassland. Just as they were about to enter the forest, Tony stopped and whistled. After a moment, the bushes rustled, and about a dozen slimes appeared.
The slimes were blue and green, with some slight color variations, but mostly blue and green.
"Amazing, Tony! To be able to contract so many slimes as familiars!"
Cain sincerely admired and praised him.
"If you praise me that much, I'll get shy~"
Tony's face turned a little red as he tried to hide his embarrassment.
"At first, there were only a few. After contracting them, I brought food like trash, and they split and multiplied."
"That's amazing, Tony! You already did what I was about to ask!"
Cain thanked Tony while waving his hands excitedly.
"So, Cain. Where are they going to handle the sewage? I think it was, wasn't it?"
"That's right. I think Tony should see it before we start. Since Tony's familiars will be working there from now on."
With that, Cain reached out to touch the ground.
"Sir Cain! Please wait. Surely, you're not planning to make an entrance here, are you?"
Barvish quickly stopped him.
"Yes, but? What's wrong?"
Seeing Barvish looking worried, Cain stopped using magic with a confused expression.
"From here, the entrance would be fully visible from the gate. If you're going to make an entrance, please do so a little further into the forest."
Barvish explained, and Gardy nodded strongly beside him.
