Volume 7 Chapter 27 I Wish I Could Have Done It Immediately After Deciding To Do It

Since I received questions, I will answer them.

Regarding Victor's achievements in the previous battle, most of them have not been made public.

For example, in the battle between the Gardner-Hartfield alliance and the Empire, even in later documents, it is recorded under the name 'Red Hounds' instead of Victor's name, which shows how their names are kept hidden.

There are 2 reasons for this.

First, they sent troops without permission from the Dukedom, so Alan has asked Alfred and Lucian to keep their names hidden.

Next, as a result of the entire war, the Empire was the one that won. They are strictly controlling information that would undermine that victory.

Of course, this includes negotiations behind the scenes with the territorial nobles.

Instead of boasting about their victory, they are negotiating to be recognized for their own autonomy by the Empire.

By the way, Gustav knows about these matters. Knowing this, why does he go after Randy... I hope to depict that as we go along.

The next morning, Randy showed up at the branch principal's office with Liz. Ellie was off handling something else.

"...I see. Permission for investigating the Elements."

Lucius, the branch principal, was groaning on the sofa. Randy flashed him a smile and said, "That's right." Lucius sighed like the weight of the whole world was now stuck to his temples.

"By the way, I haven't heard anything about your election campaign. Is that alright?"

Liz slid a piece of paper into Lucius's hands. "About that."

It was the poster the three of them had come up with last night. A cute, chibi-style spirit character drew the eye. Underneath it, in bold letters, was a strange announcement:

 ---

Wanted: People brave enough to step into the taboo.

This time, election candidate Randolph Victor will conduct a special fieldwork session on campus. It's a hands-on event to connect with students.

 Event: Element Capture and Investigation

We'll observe and investigate Elements—those weird, untouchable things everyone pretends don't exist. By doing this, we hope to shed light on their true nature.

Message from the Candidate (exact wording):

 Hey, did you know?

There are things in this world people decided we just shouldn't touch.

No one talks about them. No one even looks at them.

But that doesn't mean they're not real.

Grown-ups get that look, like "don't go near it," but inside, they're dying to know.

So, let's figure it out together—what exactly is this "untouchable" stuff?

Take on a taboo with the academy's most troublesome student.

Don't worry, all the dangerous stuff will be handled by me, Randolph Victor.

Any complaints? Bring them to me too.

Also, the Church, the academy, and the government? Yeah, they're not involved at all.

If you're curious, come join us.

Saturday, 1:00 PM. Main gate of the academy.

 ---

Lucius read through the poster, then looked up with a tired grin.

"Element capture and investigation, huh. Whose idea was this?"

He handed the paper back to Liz.

"Normally, I'd shut this down. It's dangerous. Tell me—do you even have experience dealing with Elements?"

"Countless times," Randy said with a shrug.

"I figured," Lucius muttered. "The Elements are vague, sure. But even I've heard stories."

He leaned forward, voice serious now.

"It might be worth uncovering their true nature. We need to understand how the Church fits into all this too. But if we just expose things carelessly, people might try something stupid."

Randy almost said, "That's their problem," but held it back. Lucius probably got it—he just couldn't approve something that might put students at risk.

"I get it, Principal. But kidnappings by Elements are still happening."

 Lucius nodded quietly.

"You tell them 'stay away,' but they keep getting closer. Isn't it the academy's job to teach students the truth? Show them how to deal with it?"

Randy's logic was skating the edge of nonsense, but Lucius still found himself muttering, "Hmm..."

About half a year ago, the Elements stirred up real trouble on campus. The entire student council got pulled in. Even if Lucius wanted to forget, he couldn't pretend it hadn't happened.

After a moment, Lucius pointed to the poster again.

"By the way... It says 'on campus.' Where exactly are you planning this investigation?"

"I heard the dark Elements are sealed under the old school building... in the underground."

Character Notes:

Ellie - Ellis. Succubus from the countryside. Kind but stubborn, with a caring side once close. Trains under Lina as a Magic Swordsman. Fast enough for Advanced-tier speed, though struggles in real fights. Cautious, efficient, and quietly hidden from Kent.
