Volume 3 Chapter 22 The New Town Wall Completion
The carriage arrived at the construction site of the new town gate, and the gate swung open. On the other side stood the Head of the Maintenance Bureau, wearing a warm and welcoming smile.
"Good morning, Sir Cain! I look forward to working with you today."
"Good morning, Head of the Maintenance Bureau. I'm glad the plans for the new town gate are finally complete. I'm really looking forward to seeing the design."
Cain responded with a smile of his own.
After exchanging greetings, they followed the Head of the Maintenance Bureau into the tent where they had held their previous meeting.
""Good morning, Sir Cain!""
The members inside the tent quickly stood up and greeted Cain warmly.
"Good morning! Thank you for your time today."
Cain returned their greeting with a polite nod.
"Now, without further ado, let's begin the meeting for the construction of the new town gate. Sir Cain, please take this seat."
The Head of the Maintenance Bureau pulled out a chair at the upper end of the table and gestured for Cain to sit. As Cain slowly took his seat, the other participants followed suit, settling into their places.
"Everyone, I apologize for not finalizing the plan the other day. However, I'm proud to present a design that I believe meets all your requests. Please take a look."
The Head of the Maintenance Bureau spread out a large piece of parchment, about the size of a poster. On it was a beautifully detailed, stylish yet modest design for the new town gate.
"Oh, this is an impressive gate. It will truly be the new face of our Sanroze territory, won't it? But it seems quite expensive."
The Director of Finance Bureau examined the design and confirmed with the Head of the Maintenance Bureau.
"According to our calculations, it can be built for about 3/4ths of the cost of the previous Finance Bureau plan."
The Head of the Maintenance Bureau replied confidently.
"However, the amount of assistance required from Sir Cain has increased."
He added apologetically, his voice softening slightly.
"What about the defense aspects? Head of the Maintenance Bureau,"
The Knight Order Commander asked, studying the design intently.
"We've implemented three defense measures. First, an outer moat will be built outside the gate, with the outermost gate lowered for crossing. Raising this gate will prevent monster intrusions. Even if it remains open, the second gate will block entry. Finally, closing the town side gate will ensure complete security."
The Head of the Maintenance Bureau explained, meeting the Knight Order Commander's gaze directly.
"Hmm, with three gates, the defense seems more than adequate."
The Knight Order Commander nodded, appearing satisfied.
"Now that everyone approves, I'll explain the specific construction plan."
With that, the Head of the Maintenance Bureau began detailing the plan, covering everything from start to finish and assigning roles.
Cain's role was straightforward: foundation work, creating the outer moat, and building the base for the first gate. As he listened, Cain estimated his work would take about a week to complete.

The next day, Cain arrived at the site with Barvish and began construction.
"[Stone Wall][Stone Wall], is today's schedule finished with this?"
"Yes, Sir Cain. Good work. Tomorrow, we'll start on the outer moat, and the day after, we'll begin constructing the first gate."
Barvish answered, glancing at his memo.
"Thank you, Barvish. At this rate, it looks like I'll finish my work ahead of schedule. I'm really looking forward to seeing it completed."
Cain gazed at the construction site, imagining the vacant lot transformed into a bustling town, filled with buildings and life.
