Volume 3 Chapter 44 Where Will You Stay Tonight?
From just after noon, the weather began to look strange. The wind hadn't picked up yet, but Cain watched the sky from the driver's seat, thinking it might rain by evening.
Normally, a noble child like Cain wouldn't sit in the driver's seat, but today he insisted on staying there all day. He wanted to check the condition of the cobblestone road he had made.
"Gardy, it looks like it's going to rain soon, huh?"
He muttered, looking up at the sky.
"Yes, it seems like it'll start raining around sunset. Since we're camping tonight, let's hurry a bit and prepare early."
Gardy said this and flicked the reins, speeding up the carriage slightly.
The carriage moved faster than before, but the ride was smooth. This was thanks to the cobblestone road Cain had built through the town.
"Gardy, it's fine even if it rains. Today, I'll use [Earth magic] to create a roofed room."
Cain said this casually.
"Eh, Sir Cain. Please don't make it too flashy, okay?"
Gardy quickly replied.
"It's okay, it's okay. I'll make sure no one can see it."
Gardy swallowed his words, unsure if Cain's "It's okay" was truly reassuring.

About 2 hours before sunset, they arrived at the campsite. This was a familiar spot where Cain and others had camped before. It was quite open, and many travelers and merchants passing between Frontier Count Shield territory and Sanroze territory stopped here.
Since sunset was still 2 hours away, the campsite was mostly empty. Only 2 groups of traveling merchants were setting up camp. In a world where danger is common, even merchants can sometimes be bandits. So, before entering the campsite, Barvish got off the carriage to check on the merchants.
Barvish spoke briefly with the merchants and returned to Cain and the others.
"Sir Cain, it's fine. Both groups are members of the merchant guild in Sanroze territory. I checked their guild cards, so it's safe."
"Barvish, thank you for checking. Well then, shall we move to the far end of the camp?"
Cain pointed to the edge of the large campsite and gave instructions.
As Cain and the others entered the camp and passed the merchants, the merchants nodded in greeting. Barvish had already explained Cain's presence to them.
"Now then, shall we set up a wall for tonight's safety? Is it okay, Barvish?"
Cain pointed to the lines drawn on the ground to confirm with Barvish.
"Yes, it's fine. The merchants are also far enough away, so please proceed."
Barvish rechecked the surroundings and replied.
"Well then, ... [Stone wall]."
When Cain cast the spell, a 5-meter-high stone wall appeared around the area where the carriage was parked. The merchants looked surprised, but they quickly lost interest.
"Next, let's create tonight's lodging. ... [Create Clay]."
Cain imagined a small log house and recited the spell. The ground in a wide area began to rise, and like a 3D printer, a house made of earth took shape.
"Yay, it's finished! Ah, I didn't mean to show off, you know?"
Cain made a joke, and when he looked at Barvish, Barvish was holding his head.
"Sir Cain, that's too much... If it weren't for the stone wall, it would cause a big fuss."
"I wonder about that... I don't think it's that exaggerated..."
Cain looked at Barvish's reaction and thought, "Hmm?"
Later, Gardy, who had gone to fetch water from a nearby river, reacted the same way as Barvish. But Lala complimented Cain, saying, "Sir Cain, that's wonderful." Cain decided to listen to Lala instead of the two men.
By the way, the clay house made with [Earth magic] doesn't have a door, but he made 4 private rooms, a dirt floor, a living room, and a stove. It's made of earth, but it has beds with thick blankets from the carriage, and he added another blanket like a comforter.
He made small ventilation windows because it's still cold. Since it would be dark inside, Cain hung one [light] magic on the ceiling of each room and 3 in the living room.
Seeing the brightened clay house, Lala praised him again, so he got carried away and even made a bath. Lala, perhaps happy about the bath, offered, "Shall I wash your back?" but Cain politely declined, saying, "When I get a little older."
Barvish and Gardy just watched with a half-resigned expression.
