Volume 4 Chapter 18 Reunion

Volume 4 Chapter 18 Reunion

In the hazy view, a girl was peering at me.

 Huh, what happened?

I fought against Larkan and lost. I couldn't even lift a finger and was completely defeated. Just before I was about to be killed, someone saved me, and my consciousness became unclear from there.

 Was I dreaming?

Certainly, Glaive and Larkan were fighting right in front of me. It was a real battle where lives were at stake and pride clashed.

Wait, that's strange. I left Glaive behind at that time. I only found out that Glaive had died when I found his body during the search the next day.

The surrounding forest was torn apart as if an explosion had occurred, telling the story of the intensity of the battle.

But I didn't actually see it.

I can imagine it from the traces of the battle, but there were many techniques I had never seen before, and the current scene was not just an illusion. There was something truly approaching.

 What was I seeing?

 "...Are you okay?"

Thinking that far, I was called out by the girl who was peering at me.

That's right, now is not the time to remember what happened in the dream. I was defeated by Larkan and someone saved me.

In the clearing vision, the girl's face became clear.

It was a face that I somehow recognized. Snow-white hair that was not typical of Japanese people and ice-blue eyes. They were round and resembled a small animal.

That's right, she was one of the "Keys" I met when I fought against Tarim.

 "Yunea-san?"

"Yes, long time no see. It seems like you're conscious."

 "Ah, yeah."

I didn't know why she was here, but I knew who had saved me.

It was Irial. She must have ambushed me from a high place with her magic to save me. But one wrong move could have cut her in half from the back.

And now it seemed that Yunea-san was taking care of me. I was in a position where she was supporting my head with her lap.

"By the way, I was surprised. The knight from that time was you, huh?"

 "Huh? Ah, yeah."

I realized when she said that.

I had returned to my normal state, the activation of magic had been released. Of course, I couldn't maintain magic in that state.

"Sorry, I couldn't talk about various things."

"No, there's no need to worry. Both my sister and I are here now thanks to you."

Yunea-san said calmly, beyond her age. She was younger than Lisha, but she was overwhelmingly composed.

"More importantly, how are you feeling? I did as much treatment as I could with my magic."

At those words, I moved my hand and touched my chest. It felt like the flesh was tense. It seemed that the wound was closed, but it didn't seem to be perfectly healed. If I moved forcefully, the wound would probably reopen.

But if I had left it alone, it would have been a fatal wound. I was saved thanks to Yunea-san.

"It seems like I'm okay. Thanks, I appreciate it."

"I'm sorry, my magic was limited."

"No, it's not like that. I managed to survive."

As I tried to get up by putting my hands on the ground, Yunea-san hurriedly held my shoulder.

"You can't stand up yet! That wound could have killed you."

"Lisha is still captured. I can't rest for too long."

"But you still need to rest for a while."

 That won't work.

Larkan's goal is not the God-Demon War, but me. The possibility of harm coming to Lisha is low, but there is another demon (mazoku) in that place.

It was probably that person who left Kanami on the verge of death. Lisha's safety is not guaranteed.

I can't afford to be leisurely.

 "Agh...!"

Just as I tried to shake off Yunea-san's restraint and stand up, a severe pain ran through my body. My muscles screamed, and my internal organs revolted. My strength left me, and my head fell back onto my thin thigh.

This is bad, it's not a level where I can endure it. My body is refusing to move.

"Please refrain from doing anything reckless. You should still be resting."

I heard a new voice, and when I looked over, there was a beautiful woman who seemed to have grown up just like Yunea-san.

Ah, as I thought. My prediction was correct.

 "Irial-san"

 "...Long time no see."

She looked down at me with her usual emotionless slanted eyes and bowed her head.

Maybe it's because she found out that I'm a knight, but it feels uncomfortable when older women use polite language with me.

Since I can't sit up, I just nod my head.

 "Thank you for helping me."

"Compared to before, this is nothing. Originally, we were also surveilling them. But it was impossible to win against two of them, still we couldn't ignore them or intervene."

 "And then you came."

 Irial-san nodded.

Maybe Larkan and the others also noticed Irial-san's presence. But they deliberately ignored it.

In that regard, I'm grateful that Larkan was fixated on me alone.

 But Irial-san seems unusually restless.

 "What's wrong?"

When I asked, she hesitantly replied.

"No, well, since I was surveilling from the beginning, I overheard the conversation."

 "Conversation?"

 "Well, about your true identity..."

When she said that, Irial-san slowly knelt down and bowed deeply.

I can only blink in surprise at this sudden turn of events.

"For all the countless rudeness, I apologize! It was all my ignorance that led to foolish actions. Once this battle is over, I will make amends with my life!"

Ah... come to think of it, Kanami said something similar a while ago.

I see, they must have heard about me and Larkan as well. Even if it's special for Kanami, it's a story that can't be overlooked by the church people.

Yunea-san, who is wavering between me and Irial-san, seems unsure of what to do. Maybe she doesn't understand what we're talking about.

"Irial-san, please raise your head. I am no different from an ordinary person now. Thank you for saving my life."

"No matter the circumstances, you are still a holy being. What I did was only natural. Despite being someone who should have fought alongside you, I regret my weakness until that time."

Huff... What should I do about this?

When I am revered like this, I don't know how to react. I'm not that extraordinary of a person.

But in a situation where I can't deceive with pressure and atmosphere like I did with Kanami, it's not easy either.

"Indeed, I was called a Hero. But as you can see, I am just an ordinary person. It's more troublesome for me to be revered by an older woman, especially someone who saved my life."

Yunea-san seemed to gasp at my words. It seems she really didn't know that I was a Hero.

Irial-san couldn't be satisfied with just those words and persisted.

 "But..."

"Please continue to talk to me as you always have, thinking that it's for my sake. It puts me at ease."

 "..."

Irial-san showed a gesture of thinking for a while and reluctantly nodded.

"Understood. I will do my best as much as possible."

 "Thank you."

It would be unreasonable to ask someone from the church to speak without honorifics to a Hero.

While thinking about such things, the other person who had been frozen finally started to move.

 "Um, um... Hero-sama, is it?"

Yunea-san, who had been opening and closing her mouth, asked with wide eyes.

"In the past, I was called that sometimes, that's all."

 "Ah, ah, ah, um..."

 "Yunea⁉"

Yunea-san almost fell backward, but Irial-san came to her rescue just in time. By the way, due to the vibration at this time, I fell from my thigh and hit my head on the floor.

Come to think of it, Kanami also fainted when we met on Earth.
