Summary of the previous chapter: Communication skills are useful regardless of gender.
After inspecting the school facilities such as classrooms and completing the new student orientation within the school on weekdays, there was a group division for the off-campus orientation on the following Monday after the weekend. Those who wished could choose their partners, but the rest were arbitrarily grouped into fours.
Well, the four of us, me, Saikachi-san, Hirose-kun, and Shinonome-san, were able to form a group without any issues.
Even if I look around, there aren't many mixed-gender groups. There are more groups of just boys or just girls.
There are a few mixed-gender groups here and there, but the atmosphere is quite different between the groups formed voluntarily and those formed forcibly.
The former is lively and cheerful, but the latter feels somewhat awkward.
Anyway, let's start planning for the big day.
I want to make sure we have a setup that creates a fun atmosphere.
In the "past," I went on a Christmas Eve date at TDS (Tokyo Destiny Seed), but it was so cold that the conversation didn't flow, and the atmosphere was terrible.
Honestly, going to Tokyo Destiny Seed in the dead of winter or the height of summer is not a good idea.
It's important to gather the necessary information to plan things out.
Also, since it's an orientation, each group needs to take a commemorative photo in their favorite theme zone and submit it.
"So, let's decide. In which theme zone should our group take the commemorative photo?"
I ask the other three.
Saikachi-san says,
"I'd like the Fantasy Zone!"
And Shinonome-san adds without hesitation,
"Yeah, definitely the Fantasy Zone."
As for Hirose-kun, he says,
"I'm fine with anywhere, really."
I see, maybe he was reading the atmosphere.
"Well, Fantasy Zone is probably the most dreamy place, so isn't it good?"
With that said, without me giving an opinion, we decided on Fantasy Zone for a group photo by majority vote.
If it's World Bazaar Zone, we can clear the objectives quickly, but well, a bit of struggle might be a good experience.
"Now, each person, let's list one attraction that you definitely want to ride. In terms of time, if it's four attractions, I think popular ones would be enough to go around. Also, if there's something like a no-no for thrill rides or water attractions, let us know, okay? Considering the possibility that someone might have a fear of heights or water."
First to raise their hand was Shinonome-san.
"After all, Splash Coaster is a must, right? By the way, both thrill and water rides are okay!"
"Well, it's the number one popular attraction. But in the current season, the water might be a bit cold."
"Ah, don't say things like backing down."
Next is Saikachi-san,
"I prefer Miggy's house. I don't have any issues with screaming or water attractions."
"Yeah, that seems popular too."
It might be subtle if guys can enjoy it, but girls probably like it. The difference in their attraction choices seems to reflect their personalities, which is quite interesting.
And Hirose-kun,
"I like the Haunted House. No issues with screaming or water attractions."
"Got it. Hirose-kun, you've got a cool taste."
And finally, me,
"Well, I'm thinking of the Caribbean Pirate. How about that? Depending on the crowd, you can ride it in about 10 minutes on weekdays. It's pretty fun; you can enjoy both water and thrill rides."
"Then that sounds good, right?"
"If it's not too long of a wait and it's fun, I think it's a great choice."
"I don't see any issues with it either."
So we've decided on the attractions we want to ride.
"Since it's still quite cold in early April and we'll have to wait in line for the attractions, I think it's a good idea for everyone to prepare for the cold. So it might be a good idea to bring winter coats, scarves, gloves, and a few disposable hand warmers. If you have them stored in your dresser, I think it's a good idea to take them out."
When I said that, Saikachi-san nodded in approval.
"Yeah, it definitely sounds cold to wait for hours outside without anything."
"Well, it's definitely cold. Especially for girls wearing skirts, it must feel even cold. It would be different if pants were allowed. But at worst, we could buy a hoodie or something inside the park. It might be expensive, though, so it's better to be prepared from the beginning, don't you think?"
When I said that, Shinonome-san tilted their head in confusion.
"Well, it could be a good idea to buy souvenirs as a memento, right?"
"Yeah, it could work as a souvenir."
"But I don't think it's a design you can wear outside the park."
"Oh, that's true."
"As for killing time on the bus, I think it's a good idea to bring playing cards and Uno. Should I prepare them? If someone already has them, we can use those."
In response to this, Saikachi-san says apologetically,
"I'm sorry, I don't have them."
And Shinonome-san also says in a somewhat carefree manner,
"I think they're somewhere in my place, but honestly, I don't know where."
And Hirose-kun adds,
"There are times when I think I have them, but when I get home, they're not there, so maybe, Hata-kun, could you buy them for us? It would be helpful."
"Got it. Well, just in case, how about we exchange social media IDs and create a group? If you're not comfortable with that, I won't force it."
When I say that, Shinonome-san brightly says,
"I'm totally fine with it."
I smiled faintly at her nonchalant remark, but it's relieving that she said it that way.
"Well, I kinda had a feeling."
"I don't really mind, you know?"
And Hirose-kun also said,
"Well then, let's exchange IDs."
"Sure, got it."
Saikachi-san, holding her smartphone, hesitated for a moment but eventually said with determination,
"Well, then I'll do it too."
"Hey, Saikachi-san? You don't have to feel so pressured, it's okay."
"Even if you say that... it's my first time doing something like this with a boy, so I'm nervous."
When Saikachi-san said that, Shinonome-san chuckled and said,
"Come on, Hata-pippi is naturally carefree, so don't get nervous at all."
And then Saikachi-san pouted a bit and said,
"That's true!"
