Volume 1 Chapter 9 The Best Way To Find Out About Things You Don't Know Is To Ask Someone Who Knows

Volume 1 Chapter 9 The Best Way To Find Out About Things You Don't Know Is To Ask Someone Who Knows

Summary of the previous chapter: Planning is crucial, super crucial.

Now, I've put together a plan for everyone to enjoy the suburban orientation at Tokyo Destiny Land (TDL). Honestly, I'm not that familiar with it myself.

However, to have a good time, it's essential to know how to move around without wasting time.

In situations like this, where you don't know something, it's best to ask someone who does. Among my acquaintances, there's someone who loves Destiny, ah yes, she's quite nearby.

I tapped the name labeled "Yayoi-chan" in my phone's contact list and gave her a call.

"It's been a while since I made a call. I hope she picks up and hasn't blocked my calls or anything."

Yayoi-chan, also known as Hongou Yayoi, is my cousin who lives in a place that is close if you say it's close and far if you say it's far, near the station.

She is three years older than me and is now a college student.

When I was in elementary school, I often went to play with Yayoi-chan, accompanied by my mother, and sometimes she would come to play at our place.

But when I entered junior high school and became busy with club activities, and also because three train stations felt quite far for a junior high school student, I didn't visit her as often as I did when I was in elementary school.

So, Yayoi-chan was a big fan of Destiny Land, so I thought it would be helpful if she could give me some advice on how to navigate and stuff.

After a few attempts, the call went through.

 "Hello? Yayoi-chan?"

"Yeah, is that you, Ak-kun? It's been a while."

"You seem a bit down... Should I hang up?"

"No, I'm okay. Let's talk. Rather, can you come to my house now?"

"To Yayoi-chan's house? I can go, but is it urgent?"

"Yeah, if possible, I'd like you to hurry."

 "Got it, I'll hurry over."

I headed to Yayoi-chan's house in my blazer.

 ...

 ...

When I pressed the intercom, Yayoi-chan's aunt answered.

Although she's called an aunt, she got married right after high school and gave birth to Yayoi-chan, so she's younger than my mom.

 "Oh my, Aki-chan? It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Yes, Aunt, it's been a while. Is Yayoi-chan at home?"

"Yes, she's in her room now, but she seems a bit down."

 "Did something happen?"

"I think so. Aki-chan, could you listen to her and see what's going on?"

"Yes, that's why I came. Is her university life not going well?

Anyway, I'll go in for now."

I walked up to Yayoi-chan's room from the entrance.

"Yayoi-chan, is it okay if I come in?"

 Yayoi-chan's voice came from inside.

 "Yeah."

 "Alright, I'm coming in..."

 "Uwaaan, Ak-kun, am I heavy?"

While crying, Yayoi-chan said that while hugging me.

"Huh? Why? You're not heavy at all."

"Because, I got dumped, saying he can't date a heavy girl like me. Well, I gained some weight after retiring from the high school club and failed at dieting."

"I-It's okay. Yayoi-chan is not heavy at all!"

 "Do you really think so?"

 "I really think so."

 "Really, really?"

 "Really, really."

 "Really, really, really?"

 "Really, really, really."

"Can you swear to the gods and Buddha?"

"I swear to the gods and Buddha."

 "Would you risk your life?"

"Well, if you put it that way, risking my life is a bit..."

 "Say you'd risk your life."

"Well, I'd risk my life, I guess."

“Then, I’m not heavy, right? So why is it?”

“Well, I think that in Japan, both men and women have an excessive ideal of being too thin. Even though a BMI of 22 is good, aiming for 20, and the body types of fashion models or gravure idols being considered normal is unbelievable.”

 “So, I’m not heavy, right?”

In Yayoi-chan’s case, I think the heaviness isn't about physical weight, but about her personality. But if I were to say that, it would probably cause a huge explosion, so I'll deliberately ignore that.

Based on my experience in the adult industry, in such cases, there's no use in arguing logically, so the only option is to affirm until the person calms down.

In situations like this, it's best to lightly pat or stroke the area around the heart on the back, in a steady rhythm, like a mother soothing a child to sleep. This is the quickest way to provide comfort in such cases.

Human bodies are pulled by stable rhythms, and when that happens, the mind also calms down. That's why there's no choice but to gently persuade. It's quite time-consuming and troublesome, though.

After a while, it seems like Yayoi-chan has finally calmed down.

"It's okay, Yayoi-chan. You're beautiful, and your figure is good enough."

When I said that, Yayoi-chan responded with a hesitant voice,

 "I-is that so?"

"Compared to my mom, Yayoi-chan's aunt is slim, so there's no need to worry. Still, you have to be careful with what you eat because one tend to gain weight easily."

 "Being careful? How so?"

"For example, eating boiled eggs or sunny-side-up eggs actually burns more calories digesting one egg than the caloric intake from that egg, so it helps with weight loss."

"Oh, really? I've been avoiding rice and meat."

"If you do that, you may actually gain weight, so it's better to pay attention to the ratio of carbohydrates, proteins, and dietary fiber. I think you can achieve a balanced diet with onigiri, boiled eggs, salad, or apples."

"Oh, really? Thank you for telling me. By the way, why did you call me?"

"Oh, Yayoi-chan, you're a fan of Tokyo Destiny Land and you know a lot about it, right?"

"Yeah, I go alone and with friends too."

"I'm going on an off-campus orientation next Monday, so I wanted to learn about smart ways to get around."

"Sure, I can help you with that. Where do you plan to go for attractions?"

I explained to Yayoi-chan everyone's desired places to go and the spot for a commemorative photo, and after considering various options, Yayoi-chan gave me the best route.

"Yayoi-chan, you've been a great help. Thank you."

"No, thank you so much. Oh, since I'm in university now, I have more free time compared to high school. Let's hang out again."

"Like we used to in elementary school, fishing or rolling down hills with cardboard skis?"

I suggested, and Yayoi-chan gave a slightly wry smile.

"Well, we used to do those things back in the day, but... not anymore. Things are different from elementary school. Let's do something more high school-like. Shopping, karaoke, bowling, or maybe the arcade."

"Oh, yeah, that sounds good, but... I don't have outerwear suitable for going out with you. The clothes my mom selects are seriously questionable. I wonder how long she thinks I'll stay in elementary school."

"In that case, wear a blazer. Then, let's go shopping together."

"Yeah, okay. That would be helpful. If Yayoi-chan approves, I think I won't end up with a lame outfit?"

 "Why the questioning tone?"

"Um, I don't know if Yayoi-chan has good fashion sense or not?"

"Hmm, if you want to wear cool clothes, leave it to me!"

"Oh, yeah, I think you definitely have better taste than me. But, you know, Yayoi-chan, it seems like you tend to prioritize others too much. Maybe you should value yourself a bit more, be a bit more self-centered? Don't worry too much about what others think and have confidence in yourself."

 "Is that so?"

 "Probably."

 "Haha, you're saying something mature."

Yayoi-chan laughed while saying that, so maybe she's alright now.

But still, Yayoi-chan and I used to play together until the sun went down, getting all dirty, and even had wrestling matches, but she has become quite a girl now.

Well, I've never had a girlfriend before, and I've never confessed to anyone or been confessed to, so of course I've never been rejected. I don't know how painful or sad it can be, but if it can be a chance for her to recover, then I think it's a good thing.

Hello, we have other project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and asks them to join the war. But what does the MC say? They refuse. Is it because their love was rejected by the princess when they adventured together in the past or are they simply fed up? And are the MC will join later? You can find out by clicking on the following => [Link]
