Volume 1 Chapter 34 Karaoke Is Really Convenient For Hanging Out

After we eat lunch at a family restaurant and have some drinks at the drink bar, we talk about what to do in the afternoon.

"There are other options like bowling, the game center, karaoke, batting, archery, darts, and billiards, but I think karaoke is the safest choice."

When I said that, Shinonome-san looked confused.

 "Why?"

"Well, batting and archery might be difficult for girls trying it for the first time, so they might not enjoy it as much."

When I said that, Shinonome-san nodded.

 "Yeah, you're right."

"And for darts and billiards, they might not be too hard even for girls, but I think it's a bit troublesome to understand the rules, especially for billiards which is quite challenging."

When I said that, Shinonome-san nodded again.

 "That's true too."

"And as for the game center, it's not really suitable for a big group of people having fun together. So, after considering all the options, karaoke is the only one left."

 "Yep, I guess that's right."

"In that case, I think we should go with karaoke. What do you guys think?"

 Saikachi-san spoke up first.

"I haven't done karaoke before, so I think it would be a good choice."

 Hirose-kun nodded as well.

"I haven't done it either, so karaoke sounds good to me."

"Does anyone have any objections to karaoke?"

I asked, but it didn't seem like anyone did, so we left the restaurant and went back to the karaoke place to have some fun.

"Alright then, let's start singing together."

I said, but it might be hard for Saikachi-san, Namiki-san, Hirose-kun, and Gouriki-kun to pick songs on their own.

In situations like this, Shinonome-san seems reliable...

"It might be better to choose different songs from last time. I wonder what to do..."

They seem unsure about choosing songs, so I guess I'll have to go first.

I put a song in the karaoke machine and bring the microphone closer.

"Okay, I'll start. I'll sing 'Only Love' by Johnny's idol group, Tornado."

When the music begins, I start singing and finish the song, looking around.

 "How was that?"

 I ask Shinonome-san.

"Yeah, not bad, but not particularly good either. It suits Hata-pippi better than the one you sang before."

 "I see."

And while I'm watching the karaoke machine, I'm seriously looking for a song.

"After Hata-pippi, I can sing confidently. Alright, it's my turn. This time, it's a Back Number song!"

Shinonome-san starts singing happily, and it seems to be a man singing this time?

Hearing that, Namiki-san also says excitedly,

"Then I'll go with Queen & Prince!"

 It's a bit surprising that Namiki-san chose Johnny's.

"Did you choose it to match me, Namiki-san?"

 When I asked...

 "Hehe, how about it?"

 Saikachi-san responded with a smile.

I wonder what Saikachi-san will do?

 "What song will Saikachi-san sing?"

"Well, um, I will sing a song by Nogizaka46."

"Oh, that seems to suit you really well."

 I said that and laughed.

 "I-Is that so?"

 As for Gouriki-kun...

"I...I like Kenshi Yonezu, so I'll give it another try."

 And Hirose-kun...

 "I'll go with Romeo Melon."

Karaoke is convenient because even without smart conversations, if everyone sings songs that they seem to know, it can still get lively.

It can be difficult to have a conversation because of the noise around, but on the other hand, you can still enjoy it together without having to think too hard about conversation, and it's fun to see others enjoying themselves. It's also surprising to see someone who is usually quiet singing intense songs or being in high spirits.

When others are singing, if you clap your hands or use tambourines and maracas to match the atmosphere, it creates a sense of unity too.

It's different from bowling because there are no clear winners or scores, which is nice.

Well, you can keep score if you want, but you know. That's why it's important to choose the right songs so the atmosphere doesn't get awkward.

In my "past" TRPG group, someone would sing weird songs like "Figyu@Friend" and "Saikyou Yes No Keikan." It's something that only works in a close, all-male karaoke session.

In a karaoke session with tipsy hostesses, Bowie's "Only One" might turn into really explicit parody songs, which might make male employees uncomfortable. But then again, that was fun in its own way.

Hello, we have other project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and asks them to join the war. But what does the MC say? They refuse. Is it because their love was rejected by the princess when they adventured together in the past or are they simply fed up? And are the MC will join later? You can find out by clicking on the following => [Link]

We also have a similar genre returned from isekai but has different MC's characteristic. The story is punishing someone who troll in SNS, someone who cheat and many more. You can find out in => [Link]
