Volume 2 Chapter 67 As A Thank You To Fumi-Chan, I Decided To Go Buy A Yukata And Go To The Tanabata Festival
Well, the final exams are finally over and we decided to have Shinonome-san's birthday party at her house to save money. We'll choose the gift at Seibu's Lost as usual with the usual members tomorrow, Saturday.
So, after that, we disbanded and I returned home, and there was Fumi-chan waiting for me.
"Atchan, welcome back. How did the test go?"
"Yeah, I'm back. Thanks to Fumi-chan, I think I did well this time too. Actually, I won't know until the test results come back."
When I said that, Fumi-chan laughed.
"Well, I'm sure it'll be fine. After all, I taught you step by step."
"Well, I think so too."
Actually, Fumi-chan not only helps me with the tests but also teaches me in a much easier and more polite way than any mediocre college student tutor. I think I understand much better in regular classes now than before.
While we were talking, my mother opened the front door and peeked her face out.
"Oh? I thought you were a little late, but what were you two doing in front of the house?"

"I happened to meet Fumi-chan in front of the house and were talking about how the final exams went."

Fumi-chan said, and my mother chuckled.
"Oh, I see. But dinner is already ready, so come inside. Fumi-chan, would you like to have dinner with us?"
My mother said that, so I asked.
"What's on the menu for dinner today?"
"Today we have curry, Caesar salad, and lassi."
That was the answer, so I told Fumi-chan.
"So, Fumi-chan, what do you think?"
"Since it's a special occasion, I'll gladly accept the treat."
So, we decided to go inside the house and have dinner.
I went to my room, put down my bag, changed into my room clothes, and then went downstairs.
On the dining table, there was a large plate of Caesar salad, potatoes, onions, carrots, and eggplants with plenty of vegetables such as cherry tomatoes and spinach in a curry, as well as a glass of lassi.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. Hmm, looks delicious."
I said that, and my mother scolded me.

"Well, even though it's called medium spicy, it's actually just normal spiciness, so it should be fine. But you're more of a sweet tooth, aren't you?"
"Well, that's true. I don't really like flavors that are too strong or spicy."
Then my mother says,
"But it's true that in the past, you couldn't eat anything less sweet than the sweetest mild flavor."
"No, isn't that normal for kindergarten or lower grades of elementary school?"
I say that, and Fumi-chan laughs and says,
"Was curry in school lunch okay for you after entering elementary school?"
"Oh, school lunch curry. At first, it felt spicy, but I feel like I got used to it."
"Getting used to it is important, after all."
Then my mother says,
"By the way, you two were talking about how your performance was on the final exams. How did it actually go?"
"Well, I can't say for sure until the test results come back, but I think I did pretty well this time. It's because Fumi-chan is really good at teaching."
Upon hearing that, my mother says with a smile,
"That's really something. If you're saying the results are as good as the midterm, you might even get perfect scores in all subjects again."
"Well, I hate to say it, but the high school Fumi-chan attends is one of the top schools in Chiba prefecture. Our high school isn't that low-ranking either."
And my mother says,
"That's true. But it's normal to spend around 30,000 to 40,000 yen a month if we send you to cram school or have a private tutor. We have to thank Fumi-chan. By the way, there's a Tanabata festival in front of the station the day after tomorrow. How about going there together? And as a thank you for teaching Akihiro, how about buying Fumi-chan a yukata? I'll pay for it."
My mom said that, so I thought for a moment and answered.
"So, on the day after tomorrow, we're going to see yukatas with Fumi-chan during the day and go to the festival at night, right? I'm fine with it, but is Fumi-chan okay with the plan?"
When I asked that, Fumi-chan nodded.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
"Well then, let's go to the kimono shop at Funabashi Station South Exit to see yukatas, footwear, and drawstring bags on Sunday."
"Yeah, I'm looking forward to it."
And so, it was decided that Fumi-chan and I would go shopping on Sunday for the Tanabata festival after that.
It's a bit unexpected, but it's not bad, I guess.
