Volume 2 Chapter 74 This Video Shoot Is About Life During Summer Vacation

So, Shinonome-san's birthday party went well.

I managed to finish everything on my schedule before summer break.

And then, on the next day, Thursday, we had to film the video.

I messaged Nakagaito on social media,

'I'm filming again after school tomorrow, are you good to go? I'm planning to film just with you again.'

 She replied right away,

'Sure, no problem. It's just the two of us again this time.'

'Ah, yeah, it's easier with fewer people, and it's easier with you as my partner. By the way, this time we'll be talking about our summer vacation in the video.'

 'Got it.'

So, the next day after school on Thursday, we used the home economics room as usual to film the video.

"Alright, so today, just like always, we'll chat and film about our high school debut. As I mentioned in the social media message, today's topic is about our summer vacation."

"Yeah, it's always okay over here."

"Alright, let's get started then. Now then, with Kenji."

 "And with Otome."

"Welcome to Gudaguda High School Debut Channel. Now, today's topic is about life during summer vacation. Well, I'm gonna give you some rough advice and stuff."

"What kind of advice are we talking about when it comes to life during summer vacation?"

 I chuckled and said,

"Last time, we talked about how to handle summer homework, but this time it's more about the overall picture."

 "The overall picture?"

"Yeah, for starters, try to wake up at the same time you would on a regular school day, even during summer vacation."

When I said that, Nakagaito looked surprised and said,

"Why? It's summer vacation, so you should be able to sleep in."

"As I mentioned before, the reason for having summer homework is to maintain and solidify the habit of daily learning. It's not good to disrupt your routine by sleeping in late in the morning or staying up late at night just because it's a break. So, on weekdays, wake up at the same time as if you were going to school, and plan and execute your studies throughout the entire summer vacation as evenly as possible."

 "Is that so?"

"For example, how long do you think summer vacation is at a company?"

When I asked that, Nakagaito tilted her head, thought for a moment, and then said,

"About a week around the Obon festival, maybe?"

I nodded in response to Nakagaito's answer.

"That's right, when you enter the workforce, that's about the length of summer vacation. Of course, there's separate paid leave and all, but you can't really take a long, leisurely break."

"Hmm, that's not very exciting information."

"Well, in countries like Europe and the United States, even working adults don't have long breaks in the summer, unlike Japan where there's no long vacation like Golden Week or the New Year's holiday. Compared to the past, especially before the 1980s, Japan has actually increased the amount of time off quite a bit."

When I said that, Nakagaito seemed impressed and said,

"So, it's like practicing for working at the company even during summer vacation, just like doing homework. It's better to think and act that way."

I nodded in agreement while responding.

"Well, it means that. Besides homework, it's important to spend about 3 hours on studying, such as reviewing and preparing. I think it's a good idea to study for about 2 hours in the morning and afternoon. Of course, depending on your career path after high school, you may need to increase or decrease your study time.

If you're going into the arts, for example, you'll need to practice playing an instrument, singing, or voice training for theater. Either way, the most important thing to watch out for during your first-year summer vacation in high school is developing a habit of not studying. If that happens, things will become difficult starting from the second semester."

"Isn't it too early to think about what will happen after high school, when you just started?"

"Well, it's important to make long-term plans. What subjects do you want to focus on, either in math and science or humanities? Do you plan to continue your education after high school, or do you want to start working? What specific career do you want to pursue after graduating? Summer vacation is a good opportunity to think about future job opportunities."

"Do I really have to think about all this in such detail?"

 I nod at Nakagaito's words.

"Yeah. Because eventually, we'll have to get a job, so it's important to set goals beforehand and understand what steps we need to take to achieve them."

 "Well, yeah, I guess so."

"In reality, we also need to consider our parents' wishes and opinions to some extent, and it's important to consult with them. Right now, I think it's good to have multiple options instead of narrowing down our future goals to just one. If we plan to go to college, we should also think about the level of the school we want to apply to and maybe participate in open campus events to get a feel for the university atmosphere.

But at the same time, it's important to cherish our long vacation and spend time with our family, close friends, or even a partner if we have one. It's important to study diligently and also find time to have fun and relieve stress. If you're part of a club, I think it's great to work hard in the club and deepen the bonds with other members by participating in training camps and such. Since it's a valuable opportunity, let's make some good memories during the summer vacation."

"That's true. But don't you think you're doing too much?"

I chuckled in response to Nakagaito's words.

 "I can't deny that."

I said, and Nakagaito let out a sigh.

"I think it's not good to knowingly do things like that."

"Well, it's basically a once-in-a-lifetime thing, you know? I think it's best to act without regret. Of course, I don't think everything will go well, though."

As I said that, Nakagaito nodded and said,

"Well, that's natural. I don't intend to deny everything you're doing."

"Thanks. It's easier to work with a girl as a partner, after all."

I said that, and Nakagaito looked a little embarrassed, then said,

 "T-thank you."

And that's how the video shoot ended this time.

I guess it came together pretty nicely.
