Volume 5 Chapter 1 A Weekend Date
The next day was the weekend.
I was having a meal with Nina.
It's the weekend meal we promised at the cafeteria.
"So, the 'Fang of the Beast King' people just went home."
"Yeah, it looks like they gave up on recruiting me."
I said to Nina.
"I'm glad... I thought Rain-san was going to leave from here."
"No way. I consider myself a member of' Blue Crystal' and I think it's a good guild. I never thought about going back to 'Fang of the Beast King'."
"I see."
"So, let's continue to get along in the future."
"Likewise, please take care of me."
Nina looked at me and smiled.
We finished our meal and were walking down the town street.
"That restaurant was delicious, huh?"
"Let's come again."
"Yeah, let's go together soon."
"...! Yes... We can go on another date together...!"
Nina was inexplicably making a small victory pose.
"What's wrong?"
"N-no, it's nothing."
Her face was turning red.
"Nina?"
"S-sorry, I... might be getting a little carried away..."
Nina muttered something unintelligible.
She seemed strangely emotionally unstable... What's really going on with her?
Despite feeling suspicious, I continued walking.
I passed through the main street and entered a deserted alley.
Nina's house is just ahead.
Once I drop her off, I'll head home myself──

'Guardian Gem'.
A type of protective item that takes a certain amount of damage in place of its owner.
Its original performance is not high, and it can't prevent fatal injuries.
It can only prevent 'a certain amount of damage'.
However, that's the story of a normal 'Guardian Gem'.
If it's the specially crafted 'Guardian Gem' that I've enhanced to +10000, then it's a different story.
Just like earlier, it easily took on an attack that should have been almost fatal.
All the 'cloth clothes' that I usually wear have Strengthening points applied to them.
In the case of clothes, they can defend against attacks on the 'entire body' like a Dragon's Breath, but in the case of attacks on 'part of the body' like now, they can only protect the part covered by the cloth.
In other words, the defense power against exposed parts of the body from the clothes is zero.
So, in order to compensate for that, I decided to wear these items.
