Chapter 25 I was calmly scolded again

Chapter 25 I Was Calmly Scolded Again

"It's a small mansion in my name, but would you accept it?"

 "Yes?"

I mean, I initially thought I must be hearing things. As soon as I arrived at work, the head manager of the Adventurers' Guild, Privia-san, talked to me about giving me a house.

"It's a mansion my father had built, and I lived in it until I was still single. However, it only has four rooms, so it became a bit tough to live in, and it had been left unattended for many years. I was planning to have Soutome-dono use it and was in the middle of cleaning it."

 "I see..."

"Of course, the bath is equipped with a magic tool that heats and circulates the water. What do you think?"

 "Is that okay?"

The word "bath" immediately piqued my interest. That bath is great. There's always fresh hot water waiting. Being able to take a bath whenever I want, there's nothing happier than that, right?

"Oh, it's not difficult at all to keep renting a room at the guild from a financial standpoint. Three meals a day and moderate drinking. Leisurely drinking on the eve of a day off. The rewards for treating Oso (Dreadful element) poison and injuries are the same as Daioraden (over there). I hear you're satisfied with this, but I wonder?"

 "Well, yes."

"Soutome-dono, you might be satisfied because you're not paying any upfront costs, but the fact is, it's too cheap. In reality, you should receive more rewards than even the head manager - no, as a noble. However, it's not right to simply pay you in money. So, I came up with this idea. Instead of money, let me give you something else. I've heard that Soutome-dono likes baths, right? That mansion would be just perfect. Even if you can't accept it at worst, just using it would be fine. What do you think?"

"If Privia-san doesn't mind, I would be grateful for your hospitality."

I only had baths on my mind. A mansion with a bath like that inn. Isn't it quite attractive? If it means I can save money budget-wise instead of paying for accommodations at the guild, I don't mind it.

"That's good. I've been cleaning since yesterday. I was wondering what I would do if you didn't take it."

How much did she think I was obsessed with the bath, assuming that I would accept it?

She said I could move in as early as that evening, so I was looking forward to it. When I went to the site, it was just a few minutes' walk from the guild. It felt like a quiet residential area. Maybe even the important people from Watterhills live around here.

There's a small garden, like a house with land. Since Privia-san, who is slightly bigger than me, lives here, the ceiling is high, and the kitchen and bathroom are spacious and easy to use. With a spacious living-dining room, it feels like a 4LDK (four rooms, a living-dining room, and a kitchen).

She said there were only four rooms, but one room is about four times the size of the room I used to rent at the inn. When I thought cleaning would be difficult, I decided to request cleaning services from the guild for a while.

The best thing is that the bottom is two levels, with the lower part slightly lower. The bathtub is a large oval shape, so even when I spread my arms, there is enough space on both sides. I can soak up to my shoulders and even stretch my legs, but they still won't reach the other side. It's an incredibly luxurious bathtub. The water is constantly circulating, and it's always as clean as the water in the inn.

"The bath is amazing... Maybe this style isn't uncommon in Watterhills. Anyway, it'll keep me warm since winter is near."

* * *

Morning and evening temperatures have been getting colder, making me realize that winter is here. It's been a while since I moved to Watterhills. I still spend six days on treatments and take one day off. I have a light drink and my own private bath waiting for me, so I'm okay with the mental fatigue.

Every day, as efficient training for increasing mana, I repeatedly cast the 'Pulse (Pulsating Auxiliary Spell)' and 'Resurrect (Resurrection Spell)'. I regularly cast 'Full Recover' on myself, so I never accumulate fatigue.

Because Watterhills is located between the demon realm and the human realm, it has become a gathering place for merchants from various places. Thanks to that, I learned that there is a tea called 'Mana Tea' that helps recover mana.

Of course, it's all-you-can-drink with guild expenses. I drink so many cups a day that I don't even know. However, when combined with Mana Tea and 'Mana Recover (Magical Power Recovery Spell)', the recovery efficiency increases to the point where I don't feel like my mana runs out.

As a countermeasure for the wanted poster problem, I came up with a solution. Assuming that I am pushed into a corner, I make sure to practice 'dying' once a day to always be accustomed to such a situation.

But, I wonder why? I've gotten used to it, and it's becoming a hassle to walk to the usual cliff. How long does it take for the "flashback" to happen? It feels like it happens in an instant before hitting the ground, and I'm starting to think it's difficult to recreate.

Yesterday, I reported to Privia-san, the head manager of the adventurer guild, saying, "I found a way to not die, although the method is a secret." In response, she said, "What are you joking about?" and scolded me in a calm manner.

Since she didn't believe me, I had no choice but to take her to the cliff in question and "showed her that I died" in front of her. But then, she scolded me again, saying, "Never do that in front of me again." It's unfair because I only did it to make her believe me.

After finishing work, I came to the riverbank to train in resurrection techniques. There's no other cliff higher than this one, so I have no choice but to climb it, but I'm getting tired of it. However, I can't think of any other good methods.

While thinking that way, I was trudging up the hill, but when I reached the top of the cliff...

"You came here without hesitation, didn't you?"

I heard a familiar voice from behind. There was no mistaking it. The owner of this voice must be the 'woman who saved my life', with her beautiful eyes and tanned skin. She was the first woman I felt indebted to, as she was the reason I came to Watterhills, even though it was because of an accident.

"Well, of course. Because you told me, I believed and came here——"

I felt a discomfort below my right jaw. Was it because it was chilly outside? Something warm was flowing down my arm from somewhere, and at the same time, my vision went dark. I remember falling backward.

My consciousness, which had momentarily stopped, should have come back immediately. As I hadn't trained before, the 'Display Self-Status' screen was still open, showing that 'only 10% of my vitality remained'. From that, I probably died instantly. The only thing I knew was that she must have killed me.

In the absence of any lighting around, she probably couldn't even notice. She never would have thought that the blood that should have gushed from my neck would rewind time and return to its original state.

There's a prickly sensation at the back of my head, as if small stones are rolling around. I must have fallen on my back.

"There was no other way for me to do this... Please forgive me."

I hear her voice from above my face. She's probably leaning over my face.

Her apologetic voice and the sensation of her hand stroking my cheek. I weakly open my eyes. Her eyes are still as beautiful as ever, and she looks so sad, as if she's about to cry. In fact, tears have gathered, and they seem like they're about to spill over.

Even though I'm slow, I thought that things couldn't go on like this.

"...What is causing you so much pain?"

 "Huh?"

Hello, we have other project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and asks them to join the war.
