Chapter 93 Magic Tool

Chapter 93 Magic Tool

Rosalier-san did it again, reaching into the pouch up to her elbow. And when she pulled something out, it was a beast-like creature with a different fur color. She carefully placed it on top of another beast-like creature that was lying on its back on the reception counter.

She then placed the freshly made registration certificate towards the back of the counter, next to the drooping beast.

 "Could you please buy these?"

Zecreek-san, a man who looked human, was standing at the purchasing counter. He didn't seem flustered at all. Maybe this scene wasn't as unusual as my Space Attribute magic.

"Yes. Please wait a moment. Ben-san, Geo-san, please assist."

When Zecreek-san received Rosalier-san's registration card that was placed on the counter, he turned around and called out a name.

 "Got it."

 "I'll take it."

Then, a man who seemed to be from the same office as him, maybe Benneil-san, and Geoarm-san, both Beastmen, came out with a deep and lively response. Geoarm-san came over here and shouldered it with a grunt, taking it to the back. Similarly, Benneil-san also shouldered it and took it away.

They are Bearmen (Kyuujinzoku), so they look like bears. They are about 2 m (6,56 ft) tall. I felt like there were a lot of men in the office, probably because of this job.

"Would it be okay we take about half a day for the disassembly of the Magic Beasts (Majuu) and the calculation of the Magic Stones? Is that okay with you?"

 "Yes, please."

Oh, they are magic beasts. Those two.

"Here is your registration card. Good job today."

 "No, thank you too."

Wow. I heard that hunting was the main focus, but I didn't expect it to be so easy like this.

"Tatsuma-sama, sorry to keep you waiting. Shall we go back now?"

 "Yeah, by the way..."

 "What is it?"

"About those magic beasts? How big are the magic stones?"

"Well, let's see. About this size, I think."

Rosalier-san showed me the size with her thumb and index finger, and surprisingly, it was about the same size as the magic stone that was inside that magic tool.

"So, you mean the magic stone in that magic tool..."

"Yes, it seems to be about the same size."

 "Really?"

While walking, I ask questions about the knowledge of this world that I don't know.

"That pouch, is it a bag? How much stuff can it hold?"

"Well, it's like a slightly smaller square than my room, maybe? Surprisingly, it can hold quite a lot."

Can a Magic Tool do anything? I remember hearing that there's always a magic circle engraved somewhere on the tool. So, even if it doesn't go all the way to the inventory, I guess low-level magic can be reproduced with a magic circle for things that have been confirmed to have a certain attribute, huh?

That Magic Tool that sunk in the drainage basin, it probably had a low level of the Healing Attribute and maybe a low level of the Wind Attribute too. I can guess that it was made by combining them. But for Magic Tools like Fumihicho, I wonder how many attributes are intertwined and how complex they are. Some things are so difficult that even I can't easily guess.

So, basically, if you want to use that Magic Tool, you need to supply mana to power it up. For example, if the Magic Tool in Rosalier's pouch runs out of power and the magic stone inside turns transparent, what happens to the stuff stored in it?

Will it simply not be available until it's restarted? Or does it get forced out when the mana runs out? Only the person who designed the Magic Tool or someone who has tested it would know for sure.

As someone who loves testing things, I can't help but find those Magic Tools really interesting. Like, the heat Magic Tool in the fireplace, is that what it's called? I don't know how to use it, but Rosalier-san uses it like it's no big deal. I think it works with a magic stone too. If I had the time, I'd love to look into all this.

 During dinner, I casually asked,

 "Rosalier-san"

 "Yes. What is it?"

"Rosalier-san, what happens to those magic beasts after that?"

"Well, I sell the skin and magic stones. I'll pick up the meat tomorrow."

 "Meat?"

"Goshujin-sama and Centrena often enjoy skewers made from that meat. They used it for breakfast too, didn't you know?"

"Oh, I didn't realize that's what it was."

"Yes, they are quite fast and strong, making them a formidable species."

 "Was everything okay?"

"Yes, it's still relatively easy for them to 'just die'..."

 I wonder what that means?

As I took out my phone, it immediately started ringing.

 'Ping'

'Tomorrow is an important mission, so Maya will go to bed. Goodnight, uncle. Goodnight, Rosalier-san.'

 Maya-chan seems nervous.

 "It seems so, Rosalier-san."

"That's right. I also get nervous on my first missions..."

I wonder what kind of mission it is? Is it an adventurer's mission? Or maybe an assassin's mission? I was too scared to ask.

After getting out of the bath and returning to the room, I flopped onto the bed. I checked the 'Display Self-Status' mystery system screen and saw that it was a little after 8 in the evening. It was too early to go to sleep, but after seeing Maya-chan's message, I didn't feel like drinking any liquor when thinking about tomorrow.

I thought, maybe I'll take a little walk, so I got up from the bed, put on my cloak, and left the room. I left the mansion and wandered around. It's getting cold because it's already winter. Is it going to snow here? Or is it still too early?

As I was thinking about that, I realized that I had crossed the defensive wall outside the city and ended up at the riverbank. After crossing the bridge, I noticed the cliff I passed by every night for training.

"Oh yeah, I remember passing through here"

"Yeah, it feels nostalgic, doesn't it?"

"Oh? Rosalier-san, when did you get here?"

Before I knew it, Rosalier-san was standing next to me. I thought it was impressive that I didn't sense her presence.

"Do you really think it's safe to be out alone? But then, there's no one who can kill Goshujin-sama."

"Just how much of a monster am I?"

"Don't you think you're scary enough?"

"Well, you know, if I hadn't come here, maybe that thing wouldn't have happened in a way."

"Yeah, I heard that you were coming here, so I followed you and found you. I thought I could find you here."

 "Oh, I see."

"By the way, what were you doing here?"

At that time, we were on top of this cliff. Rosalier-san looked up at the cliff, asking with a curious expression. Ah, I see. She doesn't know, probably.

"Hey, you know what? I had this rule where I would die once a day."

 "...Huh?"

Well, I guess that's the expected reaction.

"I tried this thing called the 'Resurrection Spell' to see if it actually worked. This place was where I first tested it. I fell here and died to give it a try."

 "...Are you stupid?"

"Oh, Privia-san said the same thing."

"Well, it's only natural to say that. What if it didn't work?"

"Well, I'm sure it'll be fine. I confirmed that the healing spell was cast repeatedly, and I've tested the resurrection spell many times, like squishing a bug. Plus..."

 "...Okay."

"I thought it would be disrespectful to the people who came for healing if I didn't believe in my own Healing Attribute magic, you know?"

 "That might be true, but..."

"Right? That's why I decided to give it a try. It was scary, though."
