Volume 12 Chapter 5 Mirabell's Urgent Situation(Ask)
Once I parted ways with Margaret, I started strolling through the street stalls as planned.
There were various shops selling sweets, snacks, intricately crafted items like stones and metals, as well as stores offering reading materials and artwork.
The variety of street stalls was so engaging; I never got bored just looking at them.
I bought some sweets from a shop that caught my eye, and also purchased a few crafted items.
I thought I'd give these as souvenirs to everyone in the guild.
"I think Nina will be delighted with this."
It was a cute pendant in the shape of a dog.
As I continued walking around the shops, I spotted a petite girl ahead.
"Oh, is that Mirabell...?"
There was a line forming at a street stall facing the main street, and she was standing in it.
"I think this place was a popular snack spot even in the capital city."
I heard that their take-out sandwiches are quite popular.
And Mirabell finally got her sandwich and left the shop with a smile on her face.
"I finally bought it... yay yay"
Sitting on a bench, she eagerly began to eat.
Just then, our eyes met.
"Ah, Rain."
Mirabell approached, holding the sandwich carefully.
"There is urgent news."
"Urgent?"
Had the remnants of the Light Dragon King appeared?
Or was it some other trouble?
"This sandwich is incredibly delicious."
Mirabell said happily as she took another bite.
"Is that so... I'm glad for you."
"It's all mine."
"I'm not asking you to share."
I replied with a wry smile.
"Hey."
"Wh-what is it?"
"I'll defend it to the death."
"I don't want it."
"Then, fine."
Mirabell replied, smiling, and finished the sandwich.
Then, unexpectedly, she offered the last piece to me.
"As expected, just a little bit."
"Huh?"
"You're always looking out for me. Mirabell is really loyal."
"Oh, uh, thanks."
There's only about a square centimeter left, but I gratefully accepted it.
...Yeah, even this tiny piece tastes delicious.
"Urgent Situation"
Mirabell said again.
What could it be this time?
"I missed out on getting my reward."
Mirabell stares at me.
"The reward for accompanying the battle with the Light Dragon King. I should have received a decent amount too."
"Yeah, you did put in some effort..."
"The reward was meager. It was mostly Rain's."
"Well, I did defeat the Light Dragon King, so..."
"We defeated it together. In other words, I practically defeated the Light Dragon King myself."
"That's quite a leap in logic, isn't it?"
"Basically, I need to get my share of the reward from Rain for defeating the Light Dragon King."
"No, that's not right."
"Rain's reward is my reward."
"This reasoning is too forceful..."
"I want it, I want it."
It's become a straightforward demand without any logic or reasoning...
