'Ahahaha! Talk about cutting it close! The timing is almost too perfect, don't you think?!!'
Hey, quiet down! I just jumped from a high place, so I'm feeling a bit nervous! I can't laugh as carefree as you!
'But you wasted no time punching that demon, huh?'
Of course.
He was about to swing his sword at the young lady── Aina. I couldn't let that slide without giving them a taste of my fist.
'But as expected of my partner. Always going beyond my expectations. If the door and windows won't break, you'd even smash through the ceiling. I can't even close my open mouth in amazement. Well, I don't have a mouth to close anyway.'
Same old boring jokes as always.
──Let's rewind the story for a bit.
The door leading to this hall was sealed shut by some kind of powerful effect. Even with a bunch of soldiers pushing and straining, it wouldn't budge. According to Gram, not only the door but also the windows were covered in a 'barrier'── probably set up by the demon inside── preventing anyone from getting in or out of the hall.
──So, I broke through the ceiling where there wasn't any kind of magic barrier and made a new way in.
'I don't think you can just leave it at "so, we did this" level, you know!'
By the way, the ceiling of the hall── which is basically the floor of the floor above── was really thick. I used Gram's butt end with the "Enchantment - Weight Increase" a few times to break through, but I'm worried about being billed for the repairs later.
Anyway, that's something to deal with once we get through this situation.
Mikage, carrying Kyunei, gracefully came down through the hole in the ceiling a little later.
On the way here, I told them everything about the young lady from our first meeting in the royal capital to the second encounter. I made sure to convey my genuine feelings that had sprouted during that time without holding back.

After giving them instructions, I faced the demon who was directing their anger towards me, holding my spear.
"I'm going to crush you bastard."
The demon's cheek was swollen. Thanks to the punch I landed, my anger had subsided slightly, but it was still less than ten percent of what it used to be. The intense anger still burned within me.
"So, this girl I was into just straight up dissed me. Don't think you can get away with this! I'll smash your balls open and make you moan!"
'Partner! That's the villain's line!'
"Ah, don't try to be funny at a time like this! I'd usually hit back with a witty comeback, but before I could, the demon made a move.
The demon raised their hand and suddenly, the monsters that were fighting the soldiers around us started heading my way. It's definitely the demon controlling them.
At first glance, there were more than ten monsters charging at us.
But──.
"Get out of my wayyyyy!!"
With an "Enchantment - Weight Increase", I swung the black spear, massively increasing its mass, and blew away all the monsters that came at me.
"──.!?"
"Urgghh!!"
With just one swing, the monsters were all sent flying, and the demon looked shocked, wide-eyed.
Without hesitation, I closed the distance and thrust my spear.

I had hoped to take advantage of the situation and overwhelm them all at once, but it wasn't that easy.
Even though I delivered a powerful blow that blew away more than ten monsters, the demon countered it head-on with the sword in their hand. The demon's feet scraped against the ground, and they took a small step back, but that was all.
"Who are you!?"
"Just a passing villager, that's who!"
"It seems you're not inclined to answer honestly!"
Well, about 80% of what I said was true... or so I thought.
'I'm starting to feel a little suspicious myself.'
Shut up! Don't interrupt with your jokes in such a serious moment!
'Alright, forget about that. When I give the signal, back off for a moment. It's really tough to push each other like this.'
Me and the demon are pushing against each other, like a fierce clash of swords, even though I'm using a spear.
'Three... two... one... now!!'
I follow the shout ringing in my head and pull my spear back to create distance from the demon. At the exact same time, the demon shifts their sword and tries to strike back with a smooth motion, but the tip that was supposed to catch me cuts through the air.
"What!?!"
"Take thiss!!"
I thrust my spear once again. Just when I thought I got it this time, the demon leaps back at the last moment, escaping the range of my spear.
'Keep it coming!'
"Bring it on!"
I step forward even more, aiming to pierce the demon's body with my spear. However, before the tip of my spear can reach the demon, they raises their palm towards me.
"Don't underestimate me, human!!"
A blade of wind was unleashed from the demon's hand, tearing through my body and sending me flying. I crashed hard onto the ground.
"Damn it, that hurts..."
My face contorted in pain from the impact and the cuts that covered my body. Just a quick glance revealed a significant amount of blood flowing from the wounds.
'Don't just stand there!'
As if saying it's my turn now, the demon charged towards me. Taking advantage of my unpreparedness, they closed the distance in an instant.
'Strike forward!!'
"Enchantment - Weight Increase!!"
I momentarily increased the mass of my black spear and swung it with all my might, slamming it into the ground in front of the demon. The force of the "increased weight" of the black spear shattered the floor, sending debris flying.
"Don't get cocky!"
Weakened by the airborne shards of the floor, the demon took a step back.
I quickly stood up, applying healing magic to myself in the meantime. It wasn't perfect, and the pain still lingered, almost unbearable. But at least the bleeding had stopped. I wished Kyunei could give me a proper healing magic treatment, but... I doubted the demon would give me that opportunity.
