Chapter 27 The Angel Will Eventually Spread Her Wings - SIDE Rebecca -

Chapter 27 The Angel Will Eventually Spread Her Wings - Side Rebecca -

My student Sara Grandchester is an existence that far surpasses my imagination.

When I received a letter from Rob after several years, my fairy whispered, "It's a letter from someone you're waiting for, isn't it?" But I wasn't particularly waiting for a letter from Rob. He's not the kind of guy who would send a letter without a reason.

As I opened the envelope and read the contents, it was just as I expected -- a bland, business-like letter with no unnecessary words, typical of a noble's correspondence.

"Hey, Fey," I called out, and my fairy started flying around me in circles, saying, "What is it?"

"He wants me to be the governess of Arthur's daughter, Sara."

"Arthur? Isn't he Rob's brother who fell off a horse?"

"He didn't fall off a horse, but his carriage fell off a cliff."

"I know that. But when we met, didn't he fall off a horse and pass out?"

 "Haha, yeah, that's right."

I remembered the day we went on a distant ride with Rob and Arthur. On that day, Arthur fell off his horse, and I suddenly discovered my light-attribute healing magic. That's when I also met my light fairy, Fey.

"I was taking a nap in the woods because Revi was using her outrageous magic to recklessly cast light-attribute spells, and I almost fell off my horse in surprise!"

"Well, it was my first time using magic, so please forgive me."

"I'm not angry. I'm just happy to have met you, Revi."

 "That's good."

Fey stopped flying around and perched on my right shoulder.

"So, being a governess means becoming a teacher for Arthur's daughter, right?"

"That's right. Since Arthur eloped and lived as a commoner, his daughter must have grown up as a commoner too. I'm sure the Grandchester household would be uncomfortable for her."

"Is Rob being mean to that child?"

"Ugh, His Excellency the Marquis and Edward's family are living in the royal capital's mansion, and it seems the daughter coming to Grandchester Castle soon. She might have been kicked out of the royal capital's mansion, who knows?"

"Those guys are just a bunch of weirdos, anyway."

"Well, if it's Rob, we can relax, I suppose."

"Yeah, but what if the kid who's going to become Revi's student is a total brat and got kicked out of the mansion for being a handful?"

I thought about that possibility for a bit, but immediately rejected it.

"Arthur wrote in his letter that the kid is a good kid, and it's hard to believe that a kid raised by Arthur and Adelia would turn out bad."

"Hmm, then I'll go take a look, Revi. If I take the fairy path, I'll be there in no time."

Then Fey created a rift in the empty air and slipped into it. I have no idea how it works, but this is the fairy path that only fairies can use.

We're currently at the Orson estate on the outskirts of the royal capital, and it takes about half a day to get to Grandchester Castle by carriage. But if Fey uses the fairy path, she can make the round trip in just 10 minutes.

About an hour later, a rift similar to the one before opened up, and Fey poked her face out, looking flustered.

"Revi, it's a trouble. That kid has all attributes!"

 "What?!"

"It seems like she has already developed water magic, too."

"But that kid isn't from a royal bloodline, right? I mean, there was a princess from the Grandchester family who got married into the royal family a while back, but..."

"Yeah, her face looks just like Arthur and Adelia's, so it's definitely their daughter."

 "She's a real beauty, isn't she?"

"Yeah, she is. Even from a fairy's perspective, she's undoubtedly a beautiful kid. And her magical aura is incredible, too. She's definitely going to be loved by the fairies."

"Is that... a good thing for her, I wonder?"

"Hey, are you dissatisfied that Revi is friends with me?"

Fey started circling around my head at an incredible speed, looking indignant.

"Stop it, Fey. You're making me dizzy. I'm happy to be friends with you, Fey. But it's also because the people around me are hiding their abilities to protect me."

 "Hmm."

Fey, who had stopped moving, stood still in front of me, his feet crossed and his body posed as if he were sitting in a chair.

"I'm able to live a long life thanks to Fey. But, that's also something that other noblewomen would envy."

 "What a joke."

"Humans are creatures like that, you know. And I'm a valuable magician with the power of light, and a healer too."

"That's not a bad thing, is it?"

"Yeah. But from the perspective of the royal family and the church, I'm a valuable asset who can use healing magic for a long time."

"You're a saint, loved by humans."

"Yeah, that's right. But I'm not interested in being a saint, and I don't want to be tied down by the royal family or the church."

"You don't want to be used, right?"

"That's right. But Arthur's daughter... her name is Sara, and she's a commoner, so she doesn't know how the royal family and the church see her. And Ed will definitely use her for his own gain."

"Ah, that guy would do something like that."

I've had a long relationship with the Grandchester brothers, but to be honest, I don't think I can get along with Edward. He always looks down on me, never says anything nice, and is just an unpleasant guy.

"I'll take on this request. She's Arthur's daughter, after all, and I have to protect her."

"You're not doing it just because you want to see Rob, are you?"

"Well, I do want to see him again after a long time, but that's all."

"Hmm, Revi's not being honest, is she?"

 "Hey, that's not fair!"

A few days later, when I met Sara at Grandchester Castle, she was a very intelligent child. Her polite way of speaking was probably taught by Arthur. If she's a bit more refined, she'll be at a level where she won't be embarrassed as a marquis's daughter. Although she can't speak like a noble, her witty conversation choices give off an air of refinement.

And she has an angelic face, too. In a few years, she'll be able to captivate the young nobles of the capital just with her smile.

I was amazed by her mathematical talent, but what really left me speechless was her incredible ability to control her skills in practical situations. People like me or the Grandchester brothers can't even come close to her level. She might even surpass the Marquis.

And the cherry on top was her magic class. On the first day of magic lessons, Sara displayed multiple attributes and combined them to create magic after magic. There were even some magic spells that I had never seen before. What's more, unlike ordinary kids who would have exhausted their magical energy by now, Sara showed no signs of fatigue and was having the time of her life, casting magic left and right.

"Hey, Fey, what am I seeing here?"

 "Don't ask me."

"That kid, when will she realize she's surrounded by a bunch of fairies?"

"It won't take long, I suppose."

 "Are you not going, Fey?"

 "I'm friends with Revi, so..."

 "Thanks, I guess."

I had planned to carefully teach Sara about the dangers of having abilities, but after just a brief warning, she quickly understood. She might be able to handle it on her own without my help.

As I watched Sara, who had exhausted her magical energy and was lying on the training room floor, I had a sudden premonition.

"Ah, this kid won't be content with just the Grandchester territory. She'll outgrow this country too. Someday, Sara will spread her wings and fly away from this narrow world."

Meanwhile, I was thinking as I called the maids waiting outside the room to carry Sara away.

"But I'm sure we'll become lifelong friends. Right now, we're student and teacher, but it feels like we're friends of the same age."

And that's exactly what happened, many years later.

Author: She looks like an angel, but inside, she's an old man.

Sara: That's rude. I can't deny it, though.

Author: You mean we're the same age, but you're actually older, right?

Sara: I'm planning to live a long life with the blessing of the fairies, so it's just a minor mistake, isn't it?
