Chapter 33 The Secret Garden
As we finished eating and were about to head back to the tower, Sara noticed a small door in front of her. Although it was still hidden by weeds and couldn't be seen clearly, it looked like a well-crafted metal gate.
"Hey, Eliza, what's that?"
"It's not on the blueprint, is it?"
Apparently, no one knew about it.
"I want to take a look inside."
"It's still difficult right now since the garden's maintenance isn't finished."
"Then, once the weeds are gone, we can go take a look, right?"
"That's right. I'll have the servants clear the weeds up to that point."
'Wow... this is where magic comes in handy!'
Sara generated a wind-attribute blade and cut the weeds straight to the gate. Next, she used earth magic to dig up the roots and level the ground, and then gathered the cut weeds to the corner of the garden using wind magic.
"Is this okay?"
"...probably okay, I guess."
Eliza nodded in agreement, looking amazed.
"Then, let's go."
When Sara called out to everyone, everyone except Rebecca was stunned.
"Lady Sara is using magic, isn't she?" Theofrastos muttered, and Alexander added, "And without chanting, too... her magic control is perfect."
"I'm also from Grandchester, so it's not strange, is it?"
'No way, that's definitely strange!'
At that moment, everyone except Sara was on the same page.
Indeed, if one is a noble, it's not strange to have multiple attributes of magic. But for an 8-year-old child, it's limited to blowing a gentle breeze. Even children of high-ranking nobles who receive special education can only manage to create a gust of wind.
Moreover, magic enhancement and magic control are subjects learned at the Academy, so it's common knowledge in this world that noblewomen can't use strong magic. While there are noblewomen who have mastered magic through self-study, magic textbooks are extremely difficult, and not something a child can read.
However, the maids in the office had already grown accustomed to Sara's "eccentricities," and the guild members also understood that Sara was not ordinary after the incident in the conference room last time. The 3 new female companions were completely enamored with Sara. Rebecca, of course, already knew, so she wouldn't be surprised anymore.
The only one left behind was Fran, but he basically thought, "Let's not try to understand the nobles' affairs too much," so even if he noticed something strange, he wouldn't intervene.
And so, Sara and her cheerful companions moved towards the door in a row.
The door was rusty and wouldn't budge, but when Fran added a bit of force, it creaked and fell outward.
"I'm sorry about that. I'll repair it later."
"It's old and deteriorated, so it's not Fran's fault. Don't worry about it."
Beyond the door was a tall hedge directly in front of them, and to the left, a stone-paved path continued in a gentle curve. Since it hadn't been maintained for a long time, branches were growing out of the hedge, and weeds were overgrowing the path.
Sara cut the branches and weeds with weaker strength than before and proceeded down the path. The other members were too surprised and tired to react.
After passing through the path, they found a ruined garden-like area spreading out before them. Various plants were growing wildly, forming a dense thicket, but it was a fairly large space. There was a building like a gazebo in the distance, but the path to it was blocked by plants.
However, due to the strong sunlight, it was dazzlingly bright, making it hard to focus their eyes.
Suddenly, Amelia rushed forward and exclaimed, "Wow, this is amazing! They must have cultivated medicinal herbs and plants here!"
Before Sara could even respond, Alexander, Theofrastos, and Alicia started running, each beginning to observe the plants. It seemed that this place was of great interest to the pharmacist and alchemist.
"This is juniper, isn't it? I thought it wasn't cultivated in Grandchester territory."
"Is that belladonna and foxglove? We could make poison with those."
"There's chamomile too!"
Alexander let out a sigh of admiration.
"There are even plants that are hard to obtain, even for the Pharmacist Guild. The way they're cultivated here is completely different, and it's surprising to see such plants thriving in this place. I wonder what kind of method was used."
To Sara, it just looked like a ordinary thicket, but apparently, it's something amazing. Then, Rebecca, who was walking behind Sara, started talking to her.
"This place is protected by fairies. It seems that Paracelsus had many fairy friends. They asked by Paracelsus to protect this garden."
"Can Miss Rebecca talk to fairies?"
"Of course, I can chat with my friends."
"Wow, that's so enviable."
When Theofrastos and Alexander heard Rebecca's words, they turned to face her, their expressions tense.
"So, the rumor that the young lady of the Orson family is friends with fairies is true."
"I've also heard that she can use high-level healing magic."
Rebecca smiled elegantly, but her eyes didn't smile at all, and she gave them a "noble" look. "However, I'm aware that it's impolite to ask her directly about it."
""Ah, I apologize.""
The 2 men, who had been extremely rude to the noble young lady, hastily bowed their heads deeply.
"If you're careful, I'll forgive you this time. But there won't be a second chance."
Until now, Sara had been standing out, but Rebecca had been quietly standing beside her. However, Rebecca wasn't just a gentle noble young lady. She would firmly grasp what needed to be grasped. That was not only her attitude as a governess guiding Sara but also her pride as a Viscount's daughter.
Although they were forgiven this time, the 2 of them learned that they must never think, "If I apologize, I'll be forgiven."
By the way, Fran, who was standing beside them, was still not involved in the noble's affairs. For commoners who often worked with nobles, having skills like this was extremely important.
Rebecca turned to Sara and continued their conversation from earlier.
"Paracelsus used to call this place the 'Secret Garden', you know."
"It's kind of cute."
Because of the awkward atmosphere created by the adults, Sara made an effort to stay cheerful.
"The fairies said that we can use the plants here freely, but we should leave the seeds behind."
Amelia, who was nearby, reacted to Rebecca's statement with "Really?!"
"Yes, it's okay."
"If there are any unknown plants, they'll teach us their names and effects."
"That's amazing! Ah, I want to be able to talk to the fairies too!"
Amelia was extremely excited. She had completely forgotten about what the adults had done earlier regarding the fairies. The adults all started sweating nervously, and even Sara, who could read the atmosphere, felt a bit tense.
However, Rebecca simply replied "I understand how you feel" with a smile, ending the conversation, and everyone let out a sigh of relief.
