Chapter 35 The Maidens Bloom With Love
Amelia, who had heard that she could become friends with a fairy, asked with a serious expression, "Please teach me the method of manifesting magic." The other 2 also nodded in agreement.
"Manifesting magic is about understanding the essence of attributes. Since people grasp the essence in different ways, it's very difficult to teach. Ms. Sara also experienced it, so she knows, right?"
"Yes. But I think I can give some advice."
'Maybe if they have an image that connects to a phenomenon that occurs nearby, it would be good.'
"Ms. Alicia, as an alchemist magician, how do you imagine water?"
"Well... I imagine the changes in state, like ice, water, and water vapor."
"Can you imagine creating each of those?"
Alicia closed her eyes and began to mutter, "Ice... water... water vapor..." and the fish fairy near her moved to her hand and started swimming around her right wrist.
After about a minute, Sara thought, 'Maybe I should give her a slightly different image?' when Alicia suddenly exclaimed, "Ah!" and small ice particles began to fall from her fingertips.
"I think Ms. Alicia's fairy helped her. Well, once you've manifested magic, you can use it by just imagining it, but be careful not to overdo it. The day I manifested magic, I ended up exhausted and slept for several days."
"Yes. Thank you for your guidance."
Later, Teresa successfully manifested magic by imagining the flames of a furnace, and Amelia by imagining the distillation process of making medicine.
"It seems like everyone has successfully manifested magic. Ms. Sara might have more talent as a magic teacher than I do. Now, let's become friends with the fairies. Put your hands out in front of you, palms up, and call out to your fairies to ride on your palms."
"I do it a bit differently, though."
"Ms. Sara has a lot of magical power, so she can clearly see the forms of fairies other than her friends, but normally, you can only see them as a vague light."
"That's right, isn't it?"
"And, this Secret Garden is a place where there are many fairies. So, we can find friends among them too."
When Rebecca said this, I looked around and saw small, mysterious creatures flying about everywhere. It seems this is a special space.
After a while, Amelia, Alicia, and Teresa exclaimed "I saw one!" in that order. However, the magical power they possessed was surprisingly low, and they couldn't even name the fairies.
"Does that mean they can't receive the fairies' blessings?" Sara asked, and Rebecca replied, "That's right. Magical power grows a little during the growth period, but it's hard to increase it after becoming an adult."
Sara, who had been expecting to have more friends with fairy blessings, gazed at the 3 with disappointment.
"I'm sorry. Did I disappoint you?"
Alicia laughed brightly at Sara's apology.
"Lady Sara, I'm not disappointed at all. I never thought I could be friends with fairies! Thank you so much."
Amelia and Teresa agreed with her.
"I can learn about plants from the fairies! It's incredibly wonderful!"
"The fairies can stabilize the furnace fire and adjust its strength, which is super lucky for me blacksmith!"
"Anyway, it's great that everyone has friends now. But, can we keep this a secret among ourselves?"
"""Of course, we can!"""
"Then, let's call Ms. Sara and the ladies 'The Maidens of the Secret Garden'!"
"Shouldn't we include Miss Rebecca too?"
"I'm a bit old to be called a maiden..."
"A woman can be a maiden forever!!"
Sara, who had been wondering if she was too old to be called a maiden, shook off her doubts and smiled brightly.
The girls who had made friends with the fairies had firmly promised to keep each other's secrets and had returned from the east wing. Of course, they had to navigate through the plants on their way back, just like Moses parting the Red Sea. But Sara, who could now see the fairies, realized that they were the ones moving the plants.
The fairy leading the way was Fey, a friend of Rebecca's, and the fairies living in this garden were following Fey's instructions to move the plants. By the way, Fey was currently in a dog form, but usually took on a human form.
As they approached their original location, their respective guardians were watching them with worried expressions.
"Everyone, you're being taken care of so well, aren't you?"
"My dad is always so overprotective, you know," said Alicia.
"Fran is always noisy, even though he's working at a different workshop now. He still acts like a brother," said Teresa.
"Sir Alexander is kind to everyone, after all..." said Amelia.
Amelia's comment made Teresa the Blacksmith girl turn around with a start.
"It seems like Mr. Alexander has a crush on you, Ms. Amelia even though you're his assistant."
"What, no way! We just happen to live nearby, and he's been like an older brother to me since we were kids. Besides, Ms. Teresa, aren't you and Mr. Fran going out?"
"No, we're not! We're just siblings in the same trade!"
"Eh, I've always thought you 2 were suspicious, but..."
Alicia the alchemist girl couldn't help but join in on the love gossip.
'Ugh, this is such a perfect topic for us girls...'
The girls who had shared secrets and gossiped about love exchanged glances and shared a quiet laugh with each other.
