Volume 1 Chapter 76 Little Eiris

Volume 1 Chapter 76 Little Eiris

A girl with white skin and hair is sleeping peacefully, looking small.

Judal said that Eiris was still little when he found her.

Thanks to Sir Rail's magic, Eiris has been turned back in time, and she really is small.

From her long white hair, something that looks like long black ears is sticking out.

For some reason, her appearance reminds me of a white butterfly.

Sir Ciel and Mr. Lucian are standing in front of the girl.

Mr. Lucian pointed his sword at the small Eiris, who just looks like she's sleeping.

The well-polished sword sparkles like a mirror, reflecting the sleeping Eiris.

 "...!"

 I gasped.

I escaped from Sir Roxas's hand, which was trying to cover my eyes, and ran to Mr. Lucian.

 "Stop...!"

 "Lydia..."

It looked like he was about to hurt the young girl.

She might be the witch's daughter, a monster, but still.

She probably destroyed the town and hurt many people.

 But──still.

Mr. Lucian lightly shook his head.

Just as the raised sword was about to fall on the girl's neck──at that moment, the girl's eyes snapped open.

The red pupils in her completely black eyes stared at the sword that was about to come down, looking confused.

 Then──

 "Uwaaaahhh...!"

Eiris burst into tears, big drops rolling down her cheeks.

Her crying was so intense that it felt like the air was shaking.

Eiris's voice, which had been flat and emotionless, sounding neither male nor female, now truly sounded like a little girl as she cried out in a high-pitched wail.

Mr. Lucian lowered the sword he was about to swing down.

I stood beside Mr. Lucian, feeling relieved.

For some reason, Judal, who had become as still as a dead branch, started to chuckle softly.

 "What's so funny, Judal?"

"...So sweet, too sweet. You've bathed in blood, deceived people, and survived like a crawling worm. You really are that kind-hearted, foolish son of a dullard. You should regret showing mercy to the witch's daughter."

Judal said this with all his strength, then closed his eyes deeply, as if he had used up all his energy, and relaxed completely.

His chest rose and fell slowly, so it seemed he had lost consciousness.

I crouched down in front of Eiris, who was sobbing, and reached out to her.

 A small child was crying.

Eiris had fallen from the red moon with her tiny body. She must have been so scared.

All alone in a place she didn't know.

But──still. Eiris had done bad things. She had hurt Mr. Lucian and the people in the town.

It would be right to hate her, to be angry.

 But I──

 "...This is... not good."

 Sir Ciel whispered softly.

 Explosions echoed throughout the town.

Even though Eiris's destruction was over, flames were rising from the town. The sound of people was roaring like a waterfall.

Voices filled with hatred and insults created a huge wave that resonated through the town.

Crying, shouting. Mixed in with the angry shouts were the hard sounds of clashing swords and groans.

"Eiris's power is the forgetting of memories and the amplification of hatred. If that's true──then for the people of Kirschtein, who have long suffered under oppression, and for the Bernard people who hate them, it becomes poison. Their pent-up emotions burst forth because of Eiris's power."

"Sir Ciel... I'm sorry, it's because I stopped it..."

"It's not Ms. Lydia's fault. Either way, if we had ended Eiris's life, the magic that has been building up in her body for years would have gone out of control, and this chaos would have happened anyway."

Sir Ciel gently touched my cheek, brushing my hair away from my face.

"We're safe because we ate Ms. Lydia's cooking. I'm going to cast a sleep magic over the entire town now. The magic will last about an hour. During that time, we need to move Eiris somewhere far away."

After saying that, Sir Ciel created a magic circle at his feet and instantly moved to the sky above the town.

His long black cloak billowed in the wind as he spread his arms wide.

A huge magic circle, glowing purple, appeared to cover the sky.

Particles of light fell from the magic circle, extinguishing the flames rising throughout the town and calming the sounds of fighting and screams.

 "Uwaaa... ah... ah, aaaaaah..."

Eiris continued to let out a thin, cry-like wail.

Sir Rail crossed his arms, furrowing his brow in concern.

"How should I handle this? Even if I erase it, the magic will remain. In other words, even if we take a life with Roxas's power, and even if we destroy Eiris with Lucian's sword, the magic's rampage will continue. Not just in this town, but it could spread throughout the entire country."

 "Stop crying, girl. It's annoying."

"Roxas, getting angry at a crying girl will just make her cry more."

Sir Roxas glares at Eiris with frustration.

Sir Rail sighs in disbelief, and Mr. Lucian sheathes his sword.

 The girl is crying.

Right now, Eiris really looks like a scared girl, confused and sobbing.

Mr. Lucian picks up Eiris, who is crouched on the ground, with both hands.

"I'll throw you far away into the sea. If it's the bottom of the ocean, this annoying voice won't reach us there."

 "N-no, Mr. Lucian, please don't..."

I cling to Mr. Lucian's arm.

I feel something unpleasant in his tone.

As Sir Rail approaches Mr. Lucian, he raises his fist and hits him on the head.

 "Ow...! What are you doing...?!"

"At this point, the princess has come to save you, and yet you still plan to sink with that monster. With your beloved machine, you could sink straight to the bottom of the sea. And you wouldn't be saved."

"I... the only atonement I can do is this much."

"Thinking that dying will make up for everything is foolish. You only pretended to be someone else, and you haven't harmed the princess at all. It's like you were living under a fake name and background, just like a prankster. You might have plotted against the Kingdom of Bernard, but only we here know about it."

"Since my brother is also pretending to be an adventurer, it's pretty much the same. I want to say that you can do whatever you want, whether you want to die or not, but Lydia would cry. If you plan to take that child away, I'll make sure you can't move."

"Yes, the same. It's the same. I'm also Fox Mask, Lucian. You must not make the princess cry any more."

Both Sir Roxas and Sir Rail scolded Mr. Lucian, who looked down.

"So, what should I do...! If those who fell asleep from Ciel's magic wake up again, they'll start hating each other and killing each other... Are we supposed to make everyone eat Lydia's cooking? That's impossible...!"

"Mr. Lucian... um, I have a request."

I held onto Mr. Lucian's arm tightly and looked up at him.

Eris was just a scared girl who was crying.

 If that's the case──then I──

"I want to go to a place where I can cook. My restaurant... might not be the best idea. Somewhere in this town."

"In that case, let's go to the castle. They should have plenty of ingredients, and it should be safer than in the town."

When Sir Ciel came back from the sky, he spoke in a gentle tone.

I nodded. I'm sure it will be okay. I kept telling myself that it would go well.
