If I only listened to Dad's story, I think I would have been even more confused.
Because in the Kingdom, it was believed that Sylphina was a bad Witch, and that God Theobart and Goddess Alexandria protected this country from her.
But since Eir-Eir gave me Sylphina's memories, and I got to know Mr. Lucian, the prince of Kirschtein, I can understand it all smoothly now.
"The long-lasting war has settled down, and a nameless country became a great nation by taking land from Kirschtein, becoming Bernard Kingdom. Theobart married a powerful woman from the country and connected their bloodline. If the seal on the Witch is ever broken again, we will be able to protect the people with the holy sword given by Alexandria."
"I see. I thought it was strange. Why is the blood of Theobart and Alexandria split between the Bernard royal family and the Rest Priest Family? If they loved each other, their blood should be one."
Sir Rail said with a cheerful voice, as if he was happy to confirm his doubts.
"They never came together and didn't leave any descendants. Alexandria created me as her other half. It's what you call a virgin birth."
"Really?"
"...Dad, you shouldn't say that in front of Lydia."
"Stefan, Lydia is already a grown-up."
"No way, Dad...!"

"Stefan, how long are you going to treat Lydia like a little girl?"
Sir Stefan seemed a bit flustered.

Dad tapped the table with his little front paws, calming everyone down, so I straightened my back.
I got scolded. And in the end, I still didn't really understand what it was all about.
"──The Alexandria that brought me into existence was originally a tool, the Goddess's spring, to identify the Kirschtein people who had sneaked into the Kingdom. After leaving me behind, it returned to the moon, engraving an apology on a monument. I am the only immortal left on the ground. However, I did not have the power to heal someone like Alexandria."
"Why is that...?"
"Originally, immortals are bound by the principle of not interfering with humans. Alexandria broke the taboo and caused chaos in the Kingdom. Therefore, I was only given the role of watching over and advising. And, like a human, someone among Alexandria's children, my children, will inherit the power to heal. That child will save Sylphina."
"Until now, there should have been Saints of Alexandria, right? With Dad around, why couldn't the Goddess's wish be fulfilled?"
Sir Rail said curiously.
That's definitely true. Why has Sylphina been suffering all this time?
"That's because... I married a wife. She was a really cute wife."
"Dad, sudden bragging..."
I poked Dad's face at his sudden bragging as a married man.
"She was cute. She looked like Lydia. Thanks to Theobald's arrangement, I got the surname Rest. As Arjuna Rest, I became a priest, connecting the bloodline of Alexandria."
"Father... so that means, you are my, very very, old grandpa..."
"That's right. ...My wish, however, was never fulfilled. After Theobart passed away, as the reign changed, the Rest Priest Family and the Bernard royal family conspired and hid the truth. They created a history where the Bernard Kingdom is just, and Kirschtein is evil. Sylphina is the bad Witch, and Alexandria and Theobart saved the country."
"So, that's the current history, huh?"
At Sir Ciel's words, Dad nods.
"Yeah. When the Saint was born, I conveyed Alexandria's wish to save Sylphina, but it never came true. It was more convenient for the Kingdom to have the evil called Sylphina. I was locked away as a troublesome presence."
"Dad... you seem to be locked away quite a bit..."
"They do terrible things to cute puppies. I wasn't a cute puppy back then, though. ...As I was locked away for so long, everyone forgot about my existence. When I finally escaped from the tower where I was imprisoned, I started to appear by the Saint's side while hiding my identity. ...I was disappointed in people, and I thought my words wouldn't reach anyone. So, I had given up on speaking."
Dad has been struggling quite a bit too.
I always thought he was just a cute puppy caught up in secrets.
But he's my ancestor, not just a father.
"One day, someone will realize the lies of history with their own power. They will understand the Saint's mission── that day will be when I reveal the truth, I thought. And then, Lydia. After that, the children. You all learned of Sylphina's lament through your own strength. ...That's why I was able to decide to tell you everything."
When Dad finishes telling everything, a brief silence envelops Lobelia.
As I gently rub Dad's head, I think of the red moon and the white moon floating in the sky.
