Volume 6 Chapter 51 Release Of The Power Of The Magic Stone
The Magic Stone shining fiercely in the town was beautifully divine.
But at the same time, it felt terrifying. I hugged little Rosamia tightly.
"Something's about to happen! Don't hesitate, kill them! Wipe them all out!"
Under the pressure of Sir Galeon's voice, the soldiers shouted, "Let's go!" and readied their swords, charging towards the Gem's People. The magic cast by the mages flew towards the Gem's People, who were huddled together, watching the unfolding chaos.
Sir Stefan's holy sword sliced through the magic, while Mr. Lucian deflected the soldiers' swords, cutting them down one by one.
"...It's scary, so scary..."
"Yes, it is scary, really, really scary."
I nodded at Rosamia, who clung to me in fear.
Fighting against monsters was frightening. But now, there were so many people.
Under Sir Galeon's orders, they were trying to kill the Gem's People.
Did the soldiers hate the Gem's People? Did they despise them?
Or was it just because it was an order, and they had to follow it?
Even though Nel-Nel was already gone. Still── the fighting wouldn't end.
"Filouz... what have you done?"
"There's no other way. The Prophet has left us, and my body will soon crumble. Many Bernard people look down on us, calling us ants, monsters, parasites, thinking of this town as an endless mine of Magic Stones and jewels."
"You spoke with Your Majesty. Was that not enough? Didn't Ms. Lydia's words and bravery reach you?"
"Not everyone thinks that way. Galeon's words are the truth. The Prophet abandoned us, but she granted us wisdom. There's no choice left but to do this."
Facing Sir Filouz, Sir Ciel shook his head sadly.
"I've been tied down for a long time by my mother's words of hating people and her words of forgiving them. Living rightly means protecting others without hurting anyone. To do that, I had to lose my own heart."
As Sir Ciel opened his hands, a strange, shimmering membrane appeared, wrapping around the shining Edelstein and enveloping the town.
"I guess I really did hate them. Galeon, who killed my father and abandoned my mother, and Clifford and Wilshark, who called me a monster and used violence against me. And the people of Bernard too."
"Sir Ciel..."
Suddenly, big tears overflowed.
For a long time, Sir Ciel had been calm. No matter what was said, he never got angry.
But the moment Mr. Wilshark insulted the people of Kirschtein, the anger he had been holding back must have burst out.
He had been pushing his feelings deep down for so long.
When someone says something terrible or does something awful,
it's only natural to get angry.
Feeling pain or sadness,
that's completely understandable.
No one has the right to belittle another person.
Sir Galeon believes he lost his beloved wife to Kirschtein. And he thinks he lost his precious daughter to Gem's People.
Sir Filouz had his son killed by Sir Galeon. The people of Gem have also suffered greatly.
The sadness and pain seem endless.
Where can we find an end to it?
I──when I get hungry, I feel sad, so I opened Lobelia.
I hoped that the number of hungry, sad children would decrease, even just a little.
There may never be an end to someone hurting someone else,
but if possible, I just want to have the same good mornings and good nights, and live through ordinary days──
that would be enough.
"But right now, I want to protect the smile of my precious person. They are kinder than anyone else. They accept everything and forgive me. They even called me a friend. With my own will, I will protect everyone, both people and Gem's People."
"I will unleashed the power of the Magic Stone. Only the Gem's People will survive. A huge explosion will happen, and the Kingdom will fall...!"
"Do you really believe Eirnelys's words? Filouz, even if you can see through lies, have you lost the ability to think for yourself? If an explosion of magical power occurs that wipes out people, the land will die too. Water, trees, animals, everything. And that's not all. The young Gem's People and others who can't withstand the magical explosion. Only a few Gem's People will survive, and nothing will be left afterward."
"No. The Gem's People are..."
"Eirnelys wasn't lying. But she is still a child. A young child with immense power. Did she think all Gem's People have the same strength? There are differences in magical strength and physical strength."
"What have I done..."
"It's not too late, Filouz. I will protect everything."
Sir Ciel said this quietly, then raised his voice loudly.
"I will contain the magic of the Magic Stone in the town. Those in the town must escape outside. Lower your swords, don't move!"
My heart pounded hard.
Scary. So scary. I don't want this.
I could feel something terrifying was about to happen. And Sir Ciel was again──alone by himself.
"Sir Ciel, I will help too, there's something I can do...!"
"──Don't hesitate! It's just a threat! Kill Filouz!"
"Sir Galeon, can't you understand the seriousness of the situation...!"
Sir Stefan scolded Sir Galeon, who was shouting.
A glowing magic circle appears at our feet. It pushes everyone and Gem's People out from the town of Edelstein.
One by one, people's figures disappear from the town.
Rosamia's parents rush over to her.
Even the sight of them breaking free from my arms to hug each other vanishes along with the appearing magic circle.
"Sir Ciel... No, I don't want this! Why... you idiot, Sir Ciel! I want to be with you too!"
"...I don't want to die. That's how I feel right now. I want to live with you. But, I have to fulfill my duty."
"Ciel, don't die."
"Come back alive. This is an order."
Mr. Lucian and Sir Stefan hold me back as I try to rush towards Sir Ciel.
"Yeah. You two, take care of those noisy old men. I don't want to say I'll leave Ms. Lydia to you."
Sir Ciel says that and smiles.
Then, his figure fades away from in front of me.
Before I know it, I'm standing with Sir Stefan and Mr. Lucian in the open field at the entrance of Edelstein, outside the town.
