Volume 1 Chapter 20 Let's use Earth Magic
"Alright, good. It's almost breakfast time, but let's try using some magic."
Cain was eager to hear the words Benjamin just said.
"Yes!"
Cain answered with a gutsy pose.
"My teaching method is a bit special, but I think it's good to consider the future, so I'm increasing the samples."
Benjamin flashed that terrifying smile again.
'What's with that creepy grin? Spare me the sudden rakshasa mode, will ya?'
Cain listened to the talk with a scowl.
"When you get [Earth magic], the spell just pops into your head. Normally, you'd recite the spell to activate the 'magic'. But my way is, after getting used to 'Mana Control', you do 'Concentration' → 'Circulation' → 'Maintenance' before reciting the spell. 'Concentration' to gather the 'Mana', and 'Maintenance' to hold it while you recite the spell."
"First, watch what I do."
Benjamin turned in the opposite direction of Cain and quietly did 'Concentration' → 'Circulation' → 'Maintenance'.
'Oh, I can feel the "Mana" pooling in my lower belly.'
"Obey my will, gather and manifest. Ice Wall!"
As Benjamin chanted with power, a 1m wide x 2m tall x 50cm thick ice wall appeared in the middle of the courtyard.
"Amazing. Whoa, it's cold! That's real ice."
Cain said while touching the ice wall, his hands slipping on it.
"Next, it's Cain's turn. Try casting [Earth magic]'s 'Stone Bullet' at this ice wall."
After Cain refined his Mana with 'Concentration' → 'Circulation' → 'Maintenance', he chanted the spell.
"By my will, strike the enemy. Stone Bullet!"
From the palm of his outstretched hand, 3 pebble-sized bits of rubble shot towards the ice wall.
"Rattle," The rubble hit the ice wall and bounced back.
"Yeahhhh! I can use 'magic' nowwww!"
Cain jumped around, super happy.
It was the first time he nailed a 'magic' spell after being reborn into this world.
"Wow, Cain. Most people don't just start casting magic this easily. Maybe you've got some sort of good 'Earth magic' compatibility?"
Benjamin scratched his chin, deep in thought.
"Let's save that thinking for later. Cain, next, try starting with a longer 'Circulation' and say the spell again."
Cain followed the instruction, doing twice as long 'Circulation,' and shouted the spell.
"...Stone Bullet!"
"Rumble, rumble, rumble," 3 bigger-than-before stones plowed into the ice wall, leaving scratches.
"Whoa, power-up? Eh, what's that?"
Cain swayed, feeling dizzy, and sank to the ground.
"Phew, being able to expand so easily sucks because you got 'Earth magic' as your gift. Oh, sorry, Cain. I made MP limit at 'Mana Absorber,' that's why the MP ran out."
Benjamin hurried to Cain, scooping him up.
"Training this morning ends here. After breakfast, I think I'll teach you some 'meditation' and talk a little about 'magic'."
Benjamin waved his hand, making the ice wall evaporate, then carried Cain back to the mansion.
Cain, with his dizzy head, kept thinking about what's next.
'Hmm, which spell should I try next...?'
