Volume 5 Chapter 18 Ferl, the Jeweled Ice Sea Domain

Volume 5 Chapter 18 Ferl, the Jeweled Ice Sea Domain

There are 4 big dungeons in the Chaos Stone Dragonstone Kingdom.

One is the Great Mine of Gold World (Kinsekai), another is the Myriad Legion troop base, and the third is called Wrath of the Heavens.

The last one is named 'Ferl, the Jeweled Ice Sea Domain.'

For 'Wrath of the Heavens,' it is a 'Natural Type' dungeon. It has a forest with strong, easy-to-use trees at the front, and the main area is all sea where monsters appear.

As for Ferl, it's a very rare 'Sea-type' dungeon. Except for the forest at the front, there's no land anywhere else.

The sea is a giant circle, and the final boss waits in the center.

To be clear, the closer you get to the center, the stronger the monsters become.

If you defeat boss monsters in each area, you get special items called 'Ice Cores,' besides other drops.

Placing these Ice Cores on your ship's deck makes monsters, especially strong ones that can damage the ship, almost stop appearing in that area.

Also, collecting all Ice Cores from the outer 33 areas makes monsters in the next 33 areas a bit weaker. Gathering Ice Cores from those areas weakens monsters in the following 33 areas.

Once you collect all Ice Cores in that area, the monsters in the final area become weaker, and the last boss waits further inside.

That's how this dungeon is designed.

 Basically,

you first build a ship using the trees from the forest in front.

Then, you go around the outer half and collect 33 Ice Cores.

Next, collect Ice Cores from the middle area, one layer inside.

After that, gather Ice Cores from the last 33 areas.

Finally, go to the final area, defeat the last boss, and complete the dungeon.

That's the usual way to clear this dungeon.

The reason this dungeon is one of the 'Four Major Dungeons of Dragonstone Kingdom' is...

"This is the first time I've seen so many sawmills in one place~"

"Honestly, when I heard about the dungeon's design, I thought, 'Yeah, that's exactly how it should be,' just like I imagined."

Ulrika nodded excitedly, while Ramella looked tense.

The forest in front of the sea is likely there so players can use the trees to build boats and move forward.

Since the dungeon entrance is far from regular water routes, without this forest, it's impossible to travel through the sea.

Even if you force a path, the dungeon entrance is too small for big ships used for long trips.

You'd have to process the wood outside, carry it in, and build the ship inside.

It's very difficult and, honestly, almost impossible.

But if it's too hard, no one would try, so they used high-quality wood that shipbuilders would love.

Since the main area is the sea, the forest is quite safe. There's almost no food inside, so you need to bring it from outside. If you guard the small dungeon entrance, no one with bad intentions can sneak in.

There are no monsters, and it's truly peaceful.

Because of the dungeon's design, trees grow back quickly.

So they probably thought, 'Let's bring in lots of sawmills to process the wood!'

Of course, since the main area is the sea, the forest is smaller than it looks, but complaining about that would be unfair.

"It's really strong. Easy to cut but hard to break."

"Rangella, saying that while punching it doesn't sound right."

 "You're just all muscles..."

Rangella, being strong, punches the wood, leaving Horace and Tiaris amazed.

"Hmm. It's wood, but it doesn't burn easily. Good for houses and furniture, but not for firewood."

"Even in a bonfire, it's still burning strong!"

 "...Tch."

"Ms. Ellie, don't make that obvious sound."

Nousa puts the wood in the bonfire and nods, Cindy watches impressed, Ellie makes a sound, and Deus scolds her.

Still, everywhere, wood is used to start fires. It's a main choice for that.

Of course, it's easier to make cooking tools than process iron, but it's not common to use it that way.

Many magic tools are being made now, but people still use firewood to stay warm. If this wood can't be used for that, it's not good for selling.

It's also hard to tell apart from normal wood. If someone keeps it thinking it's firewood and then can't use it, they might suffer in cold weather.

The Dragonstone Kingdom knows this and has rules to make sure it's used correctly.

 So, with that said...

Horace, Nousa, Deus, and executives of Luster Report.

Eight people and one group visited 'Ferl, the Jeweled Ice Sea Domain.'

As expected, they're here to get the last piece from the innermost part.

This isn't a tour of a sawmill. Just to be clear.
