Volume 2 Chapter 3 It Seems That Even High School Girls Enjoy Yakiniku
The date with Nakagaito and Shinonome-san ended safely for now.
Nakagaito's reaction was expected, but Shinonome-san's was surprising.
Shinonome-san is good at observing and acting appropriately, so such actions are not unexpected.
Today, after the midterm exams, we decided to have yakiniku with the study group members.
The members are me, Saikachi-san, Shinonome-san, Namiki-san, Nakagaito, Shibata-san, and Gouriki-kun, a total of seven people.
I also invited Kokonoe-san.
"Ah, Kokonoe-san? We're going to eat yakiniku together. Would you like to join us?"
When I said that, Kokonoe-san responded with a big smile and broken japanese.
"Is it Korean barbecue? Can I join in? If so, please let me."
Oh, in America, they call Korean barbecue, huh?
"Well, even though it's yakiniku, it's not an expensive place like JOJO-en. It's the 3500 yen all-you-can-eat course at Gyuan, so I hope you don't expect too much from the taste of the meat."
When I said that, Kokonoe-san tilted her head.
"Ah, yes... I, understand."
If you order various things at JOJO-en, it can easily go over 10,000 yen per person... including alcohol, of course.
On the other hand, Gyuan is not a restaurant for people who want to eat expensive yakiniku that talks about A5 grade, marbling, or redness of the meat. It is a very cost-effective place where you can eat reasonably good-tasting meat for around 2,000 to 4,000 yen for yakiniku.
"We have 8 people, can we use one table?"
"Ah, yes. If it's for 8 people, the tatami room is available. Please come this way."
We were taken to a room with straw mats and two grills on the tables.
"I see, this is okay for eight people."
The room with straw mats is good for a happy gathering with many people.
"Okay, then let's sit anywhere——Shinonome-san, you're fast."
So, Shinonome-san, who sat down, signaled for me to come over.
"Hata-pippi, please grill the meat just right for me and let me eat."
"Okay, okay. Shinota-kun, you're so demanding."
With that, I sat next to Shinonome-san.
"Please... take care of me."
Kokonoe-san said in broken japanese, smiling, on the opposite side.
Well, they seem like people who would take quick action without hesitation in times like this.
"Okay, if we add things like salad and ice cream, I think we can cover the cost, so I plan to go for the 3500 yen all-you-can-eat option. But if anyone wants to order separately, please go ahead."
When I said that, Shinonome-san replied.
"Since Hata-pippi is paying anyway, why don't we all choose the all-you-can-eat option?"
"Well, that's true. Let's go with that."
So, I told the staff that we're going for the 3500 yen all-you-can-eat deal. First, they brought out appetizers like beef galbi, pork sausages, and chicken thighs.
"Hey, everyone, good job on those midterms. Looks like our efforts paid off, and everyone did well. Let's boost our spirits today by enjoying lots of yakiniku."
"Itadakimasu!"
That's when I started grilling the galbi and other meats on the grill in front of us.
On the other grill, Saikachi-san and Namiki-san used tongs to put the meat on.
If you pick the course at the start, you can use the touch panel to order more stuff like Caesar salad, kimchi, eringi butter, shrimp, and squid during the meal.
"At times like this, it's best to use fatty beef toro, right?"
Shinonome-san ordered beef toro.
When it arrived, she grinned and said, "Hata-pippi, please."
"Okay, okay."
"I want the roast, please."
Kokonoe-san also wants meat.
"Got it."
Then, I grill the meat on the shichirin (charcoal stove) until it's cooked, and put it on each plate.
"Everyone, sorry for the wait."
"Hooray!"
"Thank you, very much."
And Shinonome-san, who took a bite, said with a smile.
"As expected of Hata-pippi, it's well-seasoned."
"Yes, it's, delicious."
Kokonoe-san seems happy too.
It's nice here because the time from ordering to serving is quite fast, so it's not stressful.
And they clean up the empty plates quickly too.
Considering the price, both the seafood and vegetable grills are surprisingly delicious.
"But seriously, getting a perfect score in all subjects on the mid-term exams, that's surprising."
When Shinonome-san said that, I responded with a somewhat wry smile.
"Well, high school exam questions always have a right answer. Compared to things like university research, where there are problems without clear answers or no answers at all that need to be solved in the world, I think it's easier. Besides, I had plenty of time to prepare for the exams."

After that, the beef toro was grilled perfectly and served on Shinonome-san's plate with lemon sauce.

"Well, it's definitely harder than just saying it."
One reason I got a perfect score this time is because the difficulty level of my high school exams is not ridiculously high. By studying together with everyone, I was able to find an effective study method for myself. Fumi-chan's help in selecting the right exam preparation questions also played a role in my success.
Well, personally, I find it easier to solve problems when I have prepared answers. We all had a good time chatting and ordering different dishes, enjoying lots of grilled meat. I also noticed that high school girls really seem to love yakiniku.
It's really nice that now, even if I eat fatty galbi, my stomach doesn't feel heavy and I don't dislike the fat. It's great to have a young body.
