Volume 2 Chapter 6 Ruins Of The Light Dragons
We proceeded into the interior of the ruins.
The path was not overly complex, and we hardly got lost.
The real challenge, however, was the guardian monsters that live the place.
Every few meters, there would be a small hole where a monster lay in wait.
We had to defeat them in order to move forward.
After a while, one of those guardian monsters appeared.
It was a gigantic knight clad in armor.
It was a B-rank monster, an Organite.
"This is where I come in."
Lily stepped forward.
Since entering the ruins, she had single-handedly defeated most of the monsters.
Whenever I tried to join the fight, she would stop me.
"I'll be the one to fight, at least until we reach the location of the high-level dragon."
"But won't that be too much for you to handle?"
"I'll be fine."
With those words, Lily leaped into action.
As expected, she was fast.
She charged at incredible speed, leaving an afterimage, and swiftly swung her sword.
With my enhanced +300 strength, she effortlessly cleave through the monster's neck in one strike.
"Phew, my blade is truly impressive, Rain-sama."
Lily turned back and smiled cheerfully.
"You're the real deal. Taking down the guardians of the highest level dungeons with lightning speed."
"The monsters that appear along the way are no big deal. The real challenge lies in facing the high-level dragon that protect the swords, and—"
*Thud,* the ground trembled.
"Looks like it's time for the mini-boss to make an entrance."
"Yes. There are three super powerful monsters strategically placed somewhere in the ruins... and it seems one of them is getting closer."
I can sense it just from its presence.
This one is unlike any monster we've encountered before.
"Let's move to a more open area."
Lily suggested.
"In narrow spaces, there's a risk of being overwhelmed by enemies that spew flames or lightning."
"Got it."
We made our way through the corridor and eventually emerged into a hall-like space.
This was supposed to be the place where the guardian monster was.
However, the guardian monster had been crushed.
"I've been waiting for you."
It seemed that someone had gotten here before us.
The one from earlier—the one with immense power.
"The Earth Emperor Beast (Bephimos)...!"
Lily groaned.
Bephimos, a Rank A monster.
It was about five meters long and not particularly large for a beast-type monster.
However, it possessed a powerful ability to control the earth.
Some individuals even had intelligence surpassing humans and could wield magic.
"Oh... so you're a knight chosen by the 'Miraafa the Crimson Phoenix Sword'."
Bephimos growled.
Its eyes were fixed on the sword Lily was holding.
"Huh?"
Lily looked at her own sword.
"Does it have such a name?"
"What? You're using it without even knowing its origin. So, you haven't overcome any trials, have you?"
Bephimos roars.
"Well, fine. Only the strong are allowed to proceed through this ruins. If you can withstand my blow, then go ahead. Otherwise... vanish."
The figure of Bephimos blurred.
No, it charged at an almost imperceptible speed.
"Kyaaa!?"
Even Lily couldn't react in time and was sent flying.
"Are you okay, Lily?"
I hurriedly ran over and lifted her up.
"Rain-sama..."
Lily clung onto me, whimpering.
"I'm sorry. I made a mistake..."
"You've done well to come this far. Thank you."
I expressed my gratitude and laid her down.
"It's time for a substitution. I'll take it from here."
And I readied my sword.
