Volume 3 Chapter 2 A Weeks Later
It's been a week since I got my sword.
"Welcome back, Rain-san!"
As soon as I returned to the guild, a young boy ran up to me.
It was Rath, an adventurer belonging to the "Blue Crystal" guild.
He was a swordsman, only fourteen years old.
Although he was still young, he was already a C-rank adventurer.
He was on the verge of reaching B-rank and was considered a promising talent for the future.
"How did it go?"
"Oh, I just defeated a Gigacyclops that was about to attack the village."
"What? You've already defeated it? Amazing, as expected of Rain-san!"
Rath cheered with excitement.
He looked at me with sparkling eyes.
It seems that he admires me a lot.
Also, I strengthened his sword, and he seems to feel a great sense of gratitude for that.
Since then, whenever something happens, he comes running to me, calling me "Rain-san, Rain-san."
It felt like I had gained a younger brother, and it didn't feel bad at all.
"Haha, you're fast at work today too, Rain-san."
As I approached the reception desk, Nina said with a smile .
"It seems that humans, livestock, and crops have suffered considerable damage, so it's good that we were able to handle it early."
"I'm sure the people in town are grateful too."
"Oh, when I was leaving, the people in town saw me off all together. It makes me happy to feel that what I did was helpful to those people."
I guess that's the thrill of being an adventurer.
And then,
"As expected of the ace of our guild. Of course, I'm still not defeated. Hahaha."
Bernard-san approached me with a hearty laugh.
He had the physique of a warrior, but he was a mage.
He was the former top-ranked person in the 'Blue Crystal' before I came, in other words, the ace.
Although I call myself an adventurer, I mainly work behind the scenes and don't often go to the front lines.
So, I learned a lot from the experienced Bernard-san.
"I took down the Red Wyvern. Look, here are the materials."
Bernard-san said, placing the wyvern's fang on the counter.
"Oh wow, when did you... that's amazing."
"With your strength, you could defeat a Red Type Wyvern in one strike, but predicting its habitat is difficult. I've become skilled at making such predictions through years of experience."
"You're perfect for the job."
Nina laughed.
"Well, if I had gone, it would have taken longer than Bernard-san. Thank you."
"Hmm, it seems you haven't forgotten humility. I'll share any knowledge I have with you. So, I'll count on you, Rain. I'm counting on you."
Bernard-san patted my shoulder.
"I'll do my best!"
I nodded confidently.
"Oh, both of our guild's top talents, Rain and Bernard, are here."
Guild Master Elsie-san arrived.
"So I just received a message from the association. They said our recent achievements have been remarkable, and as a result, the guild rank of 'Blue Crystal' has increased. It's all thanks to everyone's hard work, especially Rain and Bernard-san."
"Rank up? Congratulations!"
I smiled at Elsie-san.
"Yay, we did it!"
"Hmm, this means we're finally escaping the bottom."
Nina and Bernard-san also looked happy.
That's how we, the 'Blue Crystal,' were operating smoothly.
Surely, we will continue to grow and develop from here on out──.
