Chapter 70 Please Be Careful On Your Way Back Home

I borrowed Risleyria-san's spellbook and decided to open it. As usual, I can read it, but the wording is really outdated, long-winded, and overall a hassle to read. As I flipped through the pages, huh?

"It's completely blank? What is this? Oh, I see."

 "Do you understand something?"

"Yes, probably this. It's the part where I took the magic. Oh, this too. And here. I see. How should I put it, sorry. It's my fault."

"It's okay. That spellbook is already yours. It's a great thing to have given my son such abilities. By the way, in my room back in my home country, there are still several spellbooks sleeping. I'll bring them soon."

"I'm not sure if I can read them though."

Perhaps this spellbook can only be read by someone who possesses the Healing Attribute and has reached a certain level. I think I was able to read it because I happened to become a high-ranking user here.

"Ah, it's okay, my son. If you can't read it, it's just an old item with no value."

Old things, I see. No matter how old a spellbook is, if you can't read it, it's not even a book.

Now, I will return to Watterhill in five days. Privia-san will go back there before me, so we will walk together to the stable to see her off.

The front door of the stable was already open. I guess the overnight staff from yesterday has already left. Maybe it's the day shift staff? I could hear voices and movements coming from various places.

As we continued towards the back, I could see a door at the end. Privia-san unlocked it with her own key. As the door opened, there they were, in white and black. Their eyes, four golden eyes with a hint of yellow.

Alesion and Centrena. Both of them noticed me and stood up, coming closer and resting their chins on my head one by one. Then they pressed their cheeks against mine, so I hugged them with both arms in return as a greeting.

"Oh? When did you become so close?"

"Yesterday, I came to meet them with Rosalier-san. At that time, we became a little closer. Sorry about that. I'll open the door at the back."

Centrena obediently listens to what I say. Alesion, on the other hand, seems reluctant but playfully bites my head. Come to think of it, those horses that pulled the carriage also became friendly with me right after they recovered. I guess they understand too. Even if they're not human.

Now, I open the door on the opposite side, facing the pasture (meadow). Maybe because the lake is nearby, or maybe because winter is just around the corner, the morning dew-soaked grass is visible. Speaking of which, I wonder what they eat?

 "Privia-san."

 "What's up?"

"What do the two of them eat?"

"Oh, it's nothing special. They eat the same meat as us, but it shouldn't be heavily seasoned. Alesion can eat raw meat if it's fresh. Centrena won't eat it unless it's lightly cooked. They also love bread, milk, fruits, and such. But they don't drink liquor, of course."

Hoho. So it seems like we have a similar taste. Maybe, if it's a light flavor like this instead of that, it might be good.

 "And, are they strong?"

"Yeah, of course. If it's a Magic Beast smaller than them, it's like dealing with a child. It's almost pitiful to watch."

"I see. Alesion, please take care of Privia-san."

 'Guu.'

In response to my voice, he obediently lies down without doing anything, waiting for Privia-san to get on. Oh, right, he has been Privia-san partner, traveling to various guilds for a long time.

 "Well then, Soutome-kun."

 "Yes."

"Let's meet again in 6 days."

"Yes. Actually, it's 8 days later."

"Hahaha. I'm looking forward to our reunion, my son."

She treats me like a child, hugging me tightly with both hands. It's been about 20 years since someone treated me like this. I had forgotten for a long time.

"I will definitely come back. You see, I won't die even if you kill me."

 "Oh, right. I'll be waiting."

With a smile that truly resembled that of a tiger, she had a bold and lively expression.

 "Well then, let's go, Alesion."

 'Guuu.'

 'Kuu.'

 'Guu.'

Alesion and Centrena exchanged greetings as well. Although they were used to parting ways, it had been a while since they had seen each other off.

After that, they dashed forward with great momentum, spreading their white wings. They lightly kicked the ground and floated gently. Normally, they would glide slowly and descend back to the ground, but Alesion could be seen ascending higher and higher.

"Wait a minute, what's wrong with you? Oh? Hey, what's happening?"

 "Hahaha. You're surprised, you're surprised."

 'Kuu.'

After spending a little more time with Centrena, I returned to the guild. Julienne-san, Etoelise-san, and me had a meeting in the infirmary for about five minutes.

Today, I've decided to try a slightly different approach to treatment. The procedure itself won't change, but I'm going to set up five chairs in the treatment room hallway and have the patients with Oso (Dreadful element) poison sit there.

I've come up with the idea of treating all five patients at once by moving around. After all, it's a simple process of touching the shoulders of the patients who come for treatment and using the 'Dis Recover (Cure Disease)' and 'Full Recover' spells. As long as I don't run out of mana, I thought it would be possible.

"Alright, got it. Let's start preparing, Etoelise-chan."

 "Yes, Julienne-san."

I'll drink some mana tea and cast the 'Mana Recover' spell to complete the preparations. The people lined up in the hallway still don't know what's going on. They're just sitting quietly on the chairs that have been set up, waiting.

"Well, let's do our best today, too."

* * *

As the evening approaches, it's time to finish work for today. But can you believe it? I treated over 150 people today alone. The waiting time for the next shift increased, so I ended up having some free time. On the bright side, Julienne-san and Etoelise-san were completely exhausted. But when I cast the 'Recover (Healing Spell)', they quickly regained their energy.

Once I get used to it, I'll be able to finish treating everyone in this town in about 10 days. If I use the same method in Watterhill, I should be able to make progress at a decent pace. I don't know how many times more people they have over there, though.

By the way, Rosalier-san returned in the evening and after talking with Julienne-san, she came over to me. She had a genuine expression of friendship on her face. I think it's a good thing, definitely.

After returning to the inn and finishing our meal, I went back to my room and received a report from Rosalier-san.

"Was that the drainage basin we were looking at before?"

"Yeah. Is that not what you call it around here?"

"No, it might just be my ignorance."

"I see. Anyway, people can get by without knowing much about construction materials."

"That's true. Now, about the destination of that water—"

Sure enough, there was no waterway further back. Judging from the gradual slope cut from the lake towards the drainage basin, it seems that as the water in the basin decreases, the water will naturally flow from the lake.

As I feared, Rosalier-san also cannot dive into the water. So, it's just a prediction, but it seems there must have been a way to draw water up from the bottom of the basin. It would be too unnatural to return the water from that place to the lake, and the mechanism for that is also not visible.

It's more natural to think that only the water around the Magic Tool was detoxified. That's the hypothesis we came up with.

By the way, I wonder what happened to that Kermiot guy who was a butler?

  2. An isekai work about the MC returning by death before being transported to another world along with his classmates. There's betrayal and conflict among them. Discover more here.
  3. Another fantasy project about an MC who is a magician with only enchanting spells. He is a member of a guild, reputed to be one of the strongest on the continent. However, due to the guild master and his fellow members not needing him as he is just an enchanter, he is exiled. Discover more about it here.
  4. Another project revolves around the MC whose heroines aspire to become his mother instead of his lover. Read this unusual story here.
  5. Our latest work also into the genre of Second Life. It's about the story of a former s*x worker who wants to avoid loneliness and find fulfillment in his second life. Experience his conflicts and resolutions as the protagonist progresses. Read it on here.
  6. Additionally, we have a worth-to-read project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and she asks him to join the war. But what does the MC say? He refuses. Is it because his pas love was rejected by the princess when they adventured together in the past, or is he simply fed up? Discover the answers by clicking here.

We hope you enjoy reading these works!
