Chapter 79 It Feels like a Long Time

Chapter 79 It Feels Like A Long Time

 "Phew, it's so fast."

"Yeah. Maybe that's why it's a little chilly."

"It's okay, you can just lean on me. Look, pull your cloak closer to your face. Yeah, this should keep you warm for a while."

 "T-thank you."

With that, Rosalier-san entrusts her body to me. Even through the cloak, does it feel warm somehow? Is it just my imagination, or is it a matter of feelings?

Feeling embarrassed, I take out the skewer I hastily made this morning for Centrena from my inventory.

 "Wanna eat?"

 'Kuu!'

She turns slightly toward me and opens her mouth. I reach out and feed her the skewer. Centrena faces forward, chews, and then swallows.

 'Kuu'

"Here, here. Here's another one. I only prepared five today. You can have more later, okay?"

 'Kuu'

I pour water from the bottle and let her drink. Then feed her a skewered hot dog. After she eats the fifth one, I give her some more water. How about taking a breather for now?

 "Feeling better?"

 'Kuu'

 "Okay, then, here you go."

 'Kuu'

Moving on to a more advanced altitude, it seems like she's trying to catch the wind. She's flying with the scenery around us, zooming past like a background.

Sometimes, she flaps her wings to maintain the altitude after dropping. Occasionally, she catches an updraft, lifting us gently higher. It's like how you might have seen a hawk fly in a video or something.

Maybe her speed isn't too fast because her shape is like a chicken, creating air resistance. Still, she's way faster than a carriage could ever be.

Now, we're flying directly above the road, and the trees on both sides of the road look tiny from up here. I wonder how many times taller than the trees he's flying?

In the distance, I can see the sunset starting to paint the sky. When I look back, I can't see Daioraden anymore.

 "Can you see it, Rosalier-san?"

 "Y-yes, it's very beautiful."

Through the gap in the cloak, she look outside. It seems like heights don't bother her.

 'Kuu'

Centrena replies as if to say, "That's right, isn't it?"

 "You're amazing, Centrena."

 'Kuu...'

"Don't be shy, it's all thanks to you. Because of you, I can move without shaking. I'm grateful to have met Centrena and Alesion. Right, Rosalier-san?"

 "Yes, it's always fun."

 'Kuu'

Sometimes, I touch the base of Centrena's wings and use the "Recover (Healing Spell)" on her. By doing this, her body doesn't accumulate fatigue easily. I don't want to push her too hard, but since she's not always flying, she's bound to get tired.

And before I knew it, I noticed that I can hear Rosalier-san's sleeping breath. She's always busy, going out for investigations here and there, so I want to let her sleep at times like this. I just wonder if she's not cold.

Since it's already winter, it's actually cold up in the sky. But thanks to Centrena's neck blocking the wind, I don't feel much of it. So it doesn't feel extremely cold for me.

Certainly, when you're moving so quietly, without any shaking, I start to feel sleepy too. Oh, is this bad? If by any chance we were to fall, I wouldn't die, and I wouldn't let Rosalier-san die either. I never thought I would end up fighting sleepiness on Centrena's back while sipping on fruit water.

The sky is gradually getting darker. The sun is about to set on the other side of the horizon. It's dim no matter which direction you look. Looking down, I can still see the straight road, so I can confirm that.

What time is it? Yeah, it's around 7 pm. It's early, only another hour. It looks like Rosalier-san is still asleep. Amidst the faint sound of the wind, I can hear her breathing while she sleeps. She must trust me, otherwise she wouldn't be able to sleep. That's normal.

"'Recover', umm, because it gets cold, let's 'recover' Rosalier-san too."

Sometimes, I apply 'recover' to Centrena and Rosalier-san. Well, the journey between Daioraden and Watterhill's is quite long, after all.

Perhaps this road is the closest? So, I believe there's no margin for error in terms of the shortest distance. Most importantly, I just instructed Centrena to "go to Watterhill." So, flying along this road means that this route is the closest.

Now, the surroundings are almost completely dark. I can barely distinguish between the road below and the forest.

 "Centrena"

 'Kuh?'

"It's dark around here, are you okay?"

 'Kuu!'

 "I see, please continue."

 'Kuu!'

Are dragons like Centrena different from reptiles? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that lizards don't have very good eyesight. Well, even though Centrena may look like a lizard, I don't think I should compare them. Perhaps, she might has some night vision to a certain extent.

Once I realized it, it was almost 9 p.m. It had been about three hours since we left Daioraden. I don't know how far we've come. I guess I could use the GPS on my phone to find our location, but that's probably impossible.

 "Centrena"

 'Kuu?'

 "Aren't you thirsty?"

 'Kuu...'

"I see, just wait a moment."

It sounded like she was saying she was thirsty. I can tell from the tone of her voice whether it's a yes or a no. I think I'm probably not mistaken.

I took out some water from the inventory and tried to make Centrena drink by tilting it directly into her mouth. Ah, I can feel the vibration. She's definitely drinking because she's thirsty.

"Do you want to drink a little more?"

 'Kuu'

 "Okay. How is it?"

 'Kuu'

"Let me know if you get thirsty, okay?"

 'Kuu'

 "Well then, do your best."

 'Kuu'

She finished the whole bottle of water. Even in winter, she gets thirsty. It's probably like a full-body workout for Centrena.

I was absentmindedly stroking Centrena's neck, lost in thought. As always, I could hear Rosalier-san's steady breathing coming from my chest.

It's cold, but not freezing. I regularly cast a recovery spell on Centrena and Rosalier-san. I don't have to worry about them, they'll be fine on their own.

Even though it was a little journey, it wasn't as tough as when I first traveled from Daioraden to Watterhill. I don't feel lonely because I can sense Rosalier-san's warmth from my chest and Centrena's warmth from my feet.

When I checked the time, it was past 10 PM. Tonight wasn't perfectly clear, but it was relatively sunny. When I looked up at the sky, I could see flickering lights that resembled stars. Since we're not flying at a high altitude, I can also see some clouds.

 'Kuu'

"Huh? What's wrong? Thirsty-- huh? What's that?"

I can see a light in the distance. It's like the last night when I was running and moving. The only difference is that the speed at which the light is approaching is insane.

 "No way? Watterhill's?"

 'Kuuu'

 "Are you serious?"

It's only been about 4 hours. Even if we rushed with the carriage, it must be two whole days... Centrena, you're unbelievable.

 "Rosalier-san"

"Hmm? Huh? Oh, um, I'm sorry. Did I fall asleep?"

"No, no, that's not the issue. Look, we can see Watterhill's, but it's still only 10 o'clock. It's been 4 hours. Centrena, it's amazing, seriously."

 'Kuu?'

 "R-really?"

If I remember correctly, the carriage goes about 6 kmh (3.7 mph), and even at its fastest, it's only 10 kmh (6.2 mph). So if we do a simple calculation, 48 hours times 10 km ( 6.2 mil) gives us a straight-line distance of around 500 km (310.6 mil). Let's say it's 500 km (310.6 mil), divided by 4 is 125 km (77.6 mil). I'm pretty sure I saw in a video that a Peregrine Falcon can fly at over 300 kmh (186.4 mph) in a steep dive, but when flying horizontally, it's around 100 to 110 kmh (62 to 68 mph).

Could it possibly be flying faster than that? No, no, it's different if you consider air resistance, right? Well, even if that wasn't the case, it would still be close to 100 kmh (62 mph). Seriously?

Hello everyone,

  2. An isekai work about the MC returning by death before being transported to another world along with his classmates. There's betrayal and conflict among them. Discover more here.
  3. Another fantasy project about an MC who is a magician with only enchanting spells. He is a member of a guild, reputed to be one of the strongest on the continent. 4. Another project revolves around the MC whose heroines aspire to become his mother instead of his lover. Read this unusual story here.
  5. Our latest work also into the genre of Second Life. It's about the story of a former s*x worker who wants to avoid loneliness and find fulfillment in his second life. Experience his conflicts and resolutions as the protagonist progresses. Read it on here.
  6. Additionally, we have a worth-to-read project about someone who has returned from an isekai. The main character is a hero who has defeated the Demon Lord. However, for some reason, the human-demon war has resumed and will take place in the MC's original world. The MC, unaware of this, meets a Saint from that world and she asks him to join the war. But what does the MC say? He refuses. Is it because his pas love was rejected by the princess when they adventured together in the past, or is he simply fed up? Discover the answers by clicking here.

We hope you enjoy reading these works!
