Volume 1 Chapter 3 Acquiring Abilities
I gaze at the translucent board in front of me.
At the end of the line extending from the central Death magic, another symbol is connected.
Curious, I tap the symbol with a magic circle drawn on it, just to the immediate left.
Then, an explanation appears, just like when using (Death).

It seems that I can enhance skills by consuming points.
My skills level up by defeating monsters, and I earn points through that.
And it seems that the earned points can be used to acquire abilities on this overview screen.
I redirect my attention back to the symbol in front of me.
For someone like me with low magic power at Level Cap 1, the consumption reduction ability is almost essential.
I press the "Yes" button right below the explanation.
It was then that light overflowed from the body, enveloping it in a warm sensation.
The symbols of the magic circle began to shine, and in exchange, the points in the upper right decreased from 20 to 17.

The success rate is probably the most important in Instant Death Magic.
It seems that this is also divided into several stages, just like the mana consumption, so I will acquire two stages of it.

After acquiring two abilities, the symbol glowed again.
So far, 12 points have been used. There are 8 points remaining.

The path of the 'Success Rate Increase' splits into two, and the branch leading to it had a coffin symbol.
'Coffin of the Dead: Allows you to store the body of a target killed with Instant Death Magic in another space. Consumption points: 3'
"A skill like this exists too?"
I immediately looked at the Killing Bear lying nearby.
The Killing Bear's body is quite large.
It would take time to bring it to the guild as it is, and it would attract attention.
To acquire this ability as well, I pressed "Yes."
Then the symbol glowed.

This time it was a ghost-like symbol.
'Soul Retrieval: Converts the ability of the defeated target by Instant Death Magic into one's own ability points. Consumption points: 5.'
This ability has a high cost, but its performance is exceptional.
It is unclear whether there is a limit to what can be absorbed, but as a Level 1, I am able to enhance my ability values.
Without hesitation, I consume the points to acquire it.
This exhausts all the points.
'All skill points have been consumed. Displaying the results.'
Numerical values are displayed along with a new message.

When it comes to the abilities I possess, they seem to be reasonably balanced.
However, in reality, I won't know how successful I have become with Instant Death Magic until I try it out.

I was so engrossed in looking at the board that I didn't notice, but the pain from being blown away by the Killing Bear has completely disappeared.
Perhaps when the level of my skills goes up, my stamina is fully restored.
