Volume 1 Chapter 40 New Friends In A New Place
"Oh! We finally arrived! That over there is the Commercial City of Trasverum!"
After days of traveling through the forest, the carriage finally returned to the main road.
So far, there was no sign of Iria or the soldiers from Cretia.
I thought they might have already arrived ahead of us, but it seems that's not the case.
Fatina and Mel poke their heads out from the carriage.
In front of me, I see a clear blue sky and a vast ocean stretching endlessly. On the ground, I could see a white wall that had been built to surround a large city facing the sea.
"Wow! It's such a beautiful place! Is that the sea?"
Fatina's eyes sparkle as she gazes at the scenery.
She grew up near Voltana and had never been to a place farther away.
Trasverum is surrounded by long white walls that seem to go on forever. And at the end of the main road, I see a particularly magnificent gate.
"Mel-san, have you been here before?"
"No, this is my first time actually coming, although I've heard stories. This place is known for its bustling trade, with all sorts of rare goods being exchanged."
Like Fatina, Mel also looks around in different directions while surveying the area.
Since she mostly stays in the castle, she probably doesn't get out much.
"Wow, this city is huge! The wall seems to stretch on forever."
This city is even larger than the town of Voltana.
As expected for a city, the buildings seen from atop the wall all look magnificent.
"Oh, and there's a big harbor nearby because it's close to the sea. Merchants come here to buy seafood and then take it to other towns."
Come to think of it, I remember hearing similar stories at Voltana's market.
Soon, the carriage got close to the gate of Trasverum.
"Welcome to Trasverum!"
On the way, a soldier in armor standing in front of the gate greeted us with a smile.
"Hello. I'm bringing some adventurers along today."
"Oh, I see! Adventurers are always welcome. The adventurer's guild is lively these days, so if you show up, you'll be able to get a lot of information."
"Thank you"
When the conversation was over, the soldiers returned to their original positions.

They were more friendly than I expected, so the three of us relieved.

The carriage we were riding in started moving again and passed through the large gate.
Beyond that was the main street of Trasverum.
The main street was lined with white buildings, bustling with people.

"The atmosphere is completely different from Voltana!

We got off the carriage and moved towards the coachman.

The coachman looked at the bag for a while, as if contemplating, but eventually smiled at me and took the bag.

"Yes! Thank you so much as well!"
"Um... I'm really grateful for your help."

The carriage started moving again, heading deeper into the main street.
"Well then, thank you again for your continued support! Mel-san."
"Yes, thank you very much."
"We'll be living together for a while, so if there's anything inconvenient, please let me know anytime. I'll do what I can to help."
"T-thank you... but please don't worry about me."
"No, I can't just let it go like that. Besides, Mel's knowledge will surely come in handy from now on. We're also benefiting from it."
When I said that, Mel looked at me with a slightly surprised expression.
Perhaps, she might have thought of herself as nothing more than a burden until now.
