Volume 1 Chapter 43 The Merchant Guild And Teleportation Magic

Volume 1 Chapter 43 The Merchant Guild And Teleportation Magic

After we got information about Aquaflow Cavern at the guild, we decided to visit different shops to get the equipment and things we needed.

During the fight with Iria on our way to Trasverum, my broadsword got broken. So, I have to buy a new weapon.

I don't know how to use swords, and I mainly use Instant Death Magic in battles, so the weapon is just something extra.

It doesn't have to be expensive, but I wanted something that could protect me from Iria's attacks.

(By the way, it takes a whole day just to move. It's taking too long.)

While thinking about today's shopping, I remember the information I heard from the person at the front desk of the guild.

To go to Aquaflow Cavern, it takes about a day by carriage from Trasverum.

Emerald Green Dungeon was close to the town, but this one is too far to keep going there all the time.

Even though my abilities have improved and Mel has joined our group, it's not a good idea to think that we can clear the dungeon in one go.

The most troublesome thing is being caught by the Cretia soldiers led by Iria while we are moving.

We have to stay alert because we don't know how much of Trasverum is protected by the merchant guild.

"Ark-san, are you thinking about something?"

While I was walking and thinking with my hand on my chin, Mel came up to me and spoke.

"Well, I was thinking, isn't it too much to travel by carriage for a whole day every time we go to the dungeon?"

"Yeah, we were able to walk from Voltana to the Emerald Green Dungeon. A whole day seems a bit too long. Sitting for too long can make your butt hurt too."

 Fatina also agrees with me.

At this rate, it will take us two days just for the round trip. We'll have to carry more food because of that, and the hard carriage bed will make us tired.

 "Yes, that's true."

Mel began to think while crossing her arms, and she looked over as if she had just remembered something.

"Then, how about finding someone who can use [Teleportation Magic]?"

 "[Teleportation Magic]?"

"What kind of magic is that?"

The name of an unfamiliar magic came out of Mel's mouth, so Fatina and I asked back.

"[Teleportation Magic] is a magic that allows you to instantly move to a specified location. There are some restrictions on where you can move, such as being limited to places you have already been to. If you can use it, it will be very convenient. you know."

"I see...there is such a useful magic. If you can use it, you will be able to go anywhere quickly."

Fatina became curious when she heard about the existence of dream-like magic.

If I can use the [Teleportation Magic] Mel mentioned, going to and from the dungeon will be easier. It should be possible to significantly reduce the time it takes to travel.

Maybe, while exploring, we can go back to town for a bit and then continue from there the next day.

"Wow, that's really cool. Do you know where we can find a magician who can use [Teleportation Magic]?"

"Well, kind of. In my case, there was always a special magician at the court... Sorry for bringing it up."

Mel looked down, seeming sorry. Maybe she thought she got too excited.

"No, if Mel hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have even known they existed. So, it's actually helpful. This city is big, so let's search together."

 "Haha... Thank you."

When I said that, for some reason, she looked down.

After that, while shopping in the store, we decided to ask about people who have the skill of [Teleportation Magic] as a side conversation.

First, we went into the weapon shop on the main street to buy weapons.

 "Welcome"

When I opened the door and entered the store, a young woman with long, straight blonde hair that reached her waist greeted me from the counter. She had small animal ears on her head, smaller than Fatina's. She must be a cat person.

Since there was only one person here, she was probably the owner of this store.

Inside the store, there were various weapons such as swords, spears, and axes placed on the shelves and walls. There seemed to be some behind the counter as well.

"There are really so many different weapons here!"

 "That's amazing..."

Fatina and Mel were looking at the items placed inside the store.

"These are items made by skilled craftsmen that we ordered from various countries. Please take a look."

The female shop owner said with a smile.

Since I'm not knowledgeable about weapons and don't know if they're good or bad, it would be better to ask directly.

"Do you have any weapons that can be used safely even by those without the corresponding skills and are difficult to break even after receiving a powerful blow?"

I walked up to the counter and spoke to the woman who owned the shop.

"Um, if you don't have much skill, I think a short sword or a one-handed sword would be a good choice. Which one would you like?"

"I'd like a one-handed sword, please. If you have any popular ones, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know."

"Well... in that case, how about this longsword made of mithril?"

The shop owner brought out a silver shining sword wrapped in cloth and placed it on the counter.

Mithril is a mineral that is even better than steel or silver, and it holds magical power. It is effective against undead creatures like silver, and it is also stronger than steel.

The sword has a rough design, but the overall shape is beautifully crafted and looks nice.

I don't know much about weapons, but they seemed to be well made.

"I'm asking for 50 gold coins for this. It's a bit expensive, but it's highly regarded by swordsmen. I guarantee the quality."

It is within the range of being able to buy it with 50 gold coins. I have decided to buy this item.

"Understood. I will take this sword."

 "Yes, thank you very much."

I take out the gold coins from the leather bag and place them on the counter.

The shop owner bows once and accepts the gold coins.

"I'll be a little bit of a nuisance."

"Oh, come on, this place is still as run-down as ever, huh? Eh?"

"The selection of goods is terrible!"

──At that moment, there was a sudden sound of the door being violently opened, followed by a loud voice echoing through the store.

When I turned around, three men with faint smiles on their faces had entered through the entrance of the store.

A young man with brown hair, who appeared to be in his early twenties, wearing fine clothes with gold embroidery. And standing in front of him were two men who looked to be in their thirties, with numerous scars on their faces.

One was wearing brown leather armor, and the other was wearing a full-body armor made of steel, which did not fit the scenery of Trasverum at all.

If that's the case, it could be either a soldier for hire or an adventurer.

 "You..."

The lady frowned when she saw the group of three that appeared.

"I came here to hear the answer to our previous talk, Toto-san."

"Hah, do we have to explain again? You need to change the trading to the Wiol merchant guild."

"There's no other choice for you!"

With a mean smile, the men walked closer to the counter. Toto must be the name of the owner of this shop.

"I think we already talked about this before. I can't do business with your merchant guild."

"Hey hey, you're acting all important, huh?"

"Hmm, Toto-san, you're still stubborn as ever..."

(I don't know how it happened, but they're exactly like the bad guys you see in pictures...)

I stepped in between them and the lady. Fatina and Mel also came over.

"Stop it. If you continue, I will be your opponent."

"Huh? Who do you think you are?"

"We are adventurers! We will not tolerate dishonest people like you!"

As Fatina stepped forward to protect the shop owner, the trio turned to face each other and began to laugh.

"Hahaha! It's pathetic that weaklings like you call yourselves adventurers. The guild has really fallen!"

"You're probably just E-rank! But even so, you're still adventurers!"

"Well, they may be young, but these beautiful women are too valuable to be adventurers, hehehe..."

The two men approached us and prepared their fists.

"I'm sorry, but we're adventurers too, and we're B-rank with a Level Cap of 50."

"You're just a foolish rookie! You're going to regret picking a fight with us!"

 The two men attacked me.

However, their movements felt unusually slow. It must be the difference in our stats.

I dodged the attacks of the men and swiftly struck the left one with my fist and the right one with a knee to the stomach.

 "Oof!"

 "Ouch!"

The men couldn't react at all and fell to the ground, clutching their bellies.

"What the!? W-what just happened? Hey!"

The remaining man, who looked like a merchant, didn't know what had happened and stared at me with a tense expression.

"Y-you guys! Do you understand? If you lay a hand on me, the Wiol Merchant Guild won't stay silent!"

The man pointed at me and shouted.

 I approached him.

 "Don't come any closer!"

Perhaps sensing danger, the man quickly opened the door and ran outside.

 "I almost forgot."

I threw the unconscious men towards the road, causing the man to retreat even further.

"D-damn it... Adventurers are so annoying! Remember this!"

The man ran away, leaving the two men behind.

We'll have to call the guards later to catch them.

 "Are you okay?"

 "Yes, thank you very much."

The woman said so and bowed deeply in thanks.

"But what exactly is going on with those people?"

"They are members of the Wiol Merchant Guild, a large and influential merchant guild in Trasverum."

I see, the man earlier mentioned the Wiol Merchant Guild.

"Yes... This shop has been doing business with the Clow Merchant Guild since my father's time, but recently, the Wiol Merchant Guild has been interfering in various places like this."

So, they're increasing the number of shops that trade in a rough manner. However, I didn't expect them to hire adventurers, even up to Rank B.

"Thank you very much. I don't know what to say as thanks, but if it's possible, could I lower the price of this sword as a token of gratitude?"

"No, I just helped on my own, so please don't worry about it."

 "But..."

"In that case, there's something I would like to ask. I'm looking for someone who can use [Teleportaion Magic], do you know anyone in this city?"

When I said that, the shop owner looked worried.

"Magicians who have the skill of '[Teleportaion Magic]' are very rare and highly valued, so they are usually hired by knight orders or big merchant guilds..."

So Mel knew, but it seems that regular adventurers like us didn't even know it existed. This is a problem.
